Professor Zhang is the best professor i’ve ever had. She is so kind and so helpful. She has lots of office hours and she is always willing to help you through homework if you don’t understand her. By far, my favorite teacher at poly so far

Well, she is a new professor and it shows. The whole lab was lost when it comes to concepts (there really is no corresponding lecture to teach us them). She basically taught straight from our lab manual, which was cryptic to begin with. Getting a good grade is easy: do the short problem sets even if you have no idea what the answer is, and she gives full credit. Prepare to be lost in her lectures though!

Jane Zhang is such a nice teacher. With that said, she lacks basic teaching skills. She knows what she is talking about, but not what other students are talking about. Students will ask her questions, and she will not clearly answer them. She doesn't really explain the topics thouroghly enough, and her accent is a bit annoying....can't understand her sometimes. She needs to go back to teaching school, because being a nice teacher is not enough.

I'm not a fan of using polyratings as a soapbox to bash professors, but I was disappointed in Professor Zhang. She is a very nice person who was always available in office hours. Her lectures however were very poorly put together. She often made mistakes while copying her own notes which is frustrating in class. Usually students would catch her mistakes early, but sometimes we had to erase half of our notes because she wrote down the wrong thing and didn't realize it until her answers didn't match. Her examples in class usually didn't match homework problems and the tests she used were very different from the previous quarter, so those were only of limited help. Granted we shouldn't be handed a free grade, but a little correlation would help. I can't say too many negative things because I did pass the class, but I was worried all quarter that I wasn't going to. Just be confident that the class is curved heavily. The book for this class isn't very user friendly so I would recommend studying with a friend.

Zhang is a straight forward and quiet professor. I would recommend sitting near the front. Don't know why she has such low polyratings, she's a solid teacher.

Excellent professor and great class overall for computer vision fundamentals. Jane goes into depth to explain high-level concepts and algorithms in an easy to understand and practical way, rather than a top-level view, common for many other professors. Can choose to program in python or matlab for projects and labs. Not an overly difficult class, but still interesting and informative (no homework, just labs, 1 midterm, 1 final project). Would recommend this class for a tech elective.
