I had the pleasure of having Jennifer as my Intro to Child Development professor. She is incredibly sweet and is truly there to help students and is extremely knowledgeable! I am looking forward to taking her for future courses.

Jennifer was has been the best profesor I have had at Cal Poly so far. Her lectures are amazing. They are not boring at all. She fills her lectures with very interesting facts and videos that really relate to the material. She knows her stuff really well too. Without her I would be lost as a child development major. We did do quite a bit of writing, but as long as you use material that you learned in the text or lecture you will do fine. She usually doesn't give a final, just a few quizzes throughout the quarter. And as long as you do your reading and take notes you should get an A. Take Jennifer if you get a chance.

Dr. Jipson did a really great job! she was very clear going over the material and made everything interesting. I usually find myself falling asleep easily but Jen always kept it interesting. Buy the book, if for no other reason than because its interesting, but its useful for the essays. She says it is a high writing intensity class but the papers took less than an hour each. Overall, great teacher!?

Jen is the cutest professor I've had at Cal Poly so far. She really knows what she is teaching and makes the material interesting, engaging, and fun. (It also helps that she has two adorable children around the age we study in this class, and brings them in to play with.) I highly recommend taking this class with her, or any class in general. I promise you will not regret it!

I think Professor Jipson is one of the best professors I've had so far at Cal Poly. She keeps her lectures interesting and presents the material clearly. Her grading system is fair; there are 5 quizzes and 1 observation paper. I would definitely recommend taking her/ this class!

Jipson failed to aknowledge students who were a little bit quieter in class and made me feel bad for not being as socially active in talking. She expects everyone to be as excited as she is and she is just a mean teacher. She knows her stuff, she is very smart, but she is intimidating and mean.

Hahaha what a clown underneath me! I was in the same class as them, trust me just a typical cal poly complainer. Cater to the quiter students? Come on its not high school, no ones gonna hold your hand. If you won't speak up then how is she supposed to know you're struggling? And if you were struggling then you don't deserve to be at poly anyways, the class is super straight forward all lectures online in powerpoints, 4 tests only best 3 grades. Only 4 people showed up to the final!! And I think by saying she picks on the quit students, that fool probably meant that she actually called on people that never spoke up. This was a summer school class so there were only 15 people in a large lecture room so of course shes gonna call on you. For real: super nice teacher, very straightforward, only teaches the neccesary material, and no clouding your head with crap that wont be on the test. If Jen Jipson is available for CD or PSYCH take her!

I absolutely without a doubt think that 304 is the best class I have ever taken at Cal Poly. Professor Jipson is also one of the best professors I have encountered at Poly. She really does care about the subject she teaches (and she has sooo much knowledge to share!) and she also really cares about her students. CD 350 with her is a bit of a snooze class but she definitely prepares you for what is going on and is always willing to clarify what you need to be doing. ( I knew we had to take notes on presentations for the final... she does tell you that!). If you have the chance to take a class with Jipson I suggest you take it!

LOVE Jen! Also took CD 350 with her and loved both courses. She's extremely knowledgeable and comes well-prepared for each class. If you ask her a question and she doesn't know the answer, she'll look it up and get back to it the next class. She is incredibly receptive to student's comments/concerns and is even sometimes willing to restructure due dates/assignments to cater to the class' needs. the 304 exams were more difficult than I had expected, but as long as you study well (do ALL the readings!) it's not TOO bad. She expects a lot of her students, but if you're interested in CD it pushes you to work harder & learn more.

Ms. Jipson is a GREAT professor. She is very keen to her student's needs and is very attuned to how to best present the material in a way that is both interesting and applicable. She's very transparent, values her students opinions and her expectations are very clear. She is a very FAIR teacher-her tests and assignments are designed in a way that is for students to be successful. She genuinely wants you to succeed and is more than willing to help you. She's extremely knowledgable and makes each lecture so interesting that you don't want to miss it. I'm a CD minor and always felt appreciated, respected and valued. Highly recommend her!

Loved this class! Originally was nervous because this class was not hte focus of my interest but she made it very interesting and I ended up getting an A. The tests were very doable and the study guides definitely reflected what was actually on the tests. Definitely recommend taking her for any class!

Jennifer Jipson was a lot of fun and a great addition to the Psych/CD department at Poly. Instead of the standard 3-exam/1-paper format of most 300-level PSY/CD courses, she decided to evaluate us based on our writing ability and whether or not we could demonstrate an understanding of the material covered in class. For EVERY class meeting, we had to come prepared with 4 typed responses to discussion questions from the textbook. It was tough to keep up considering we met twice a week, but it defintely forced us to stay on top of things since she wouldn't accept them late. She was extremely fair and reinforced clear expectations from day one. If you end up unhappy with your grade, you won't have any question about why. Her grading criteria is straightforward and spelled out in every assignment. As long as you make an effort to show you actually read the material, you'll get credit. The HUGE benefit was that we had NO midterms or finals. Just a group presentation and two short papers in addition to the daily responses. Overall, Dr. Jipson was extremely friendly and eager to connect with the students. I highly recommend her if you're confident you can keep up with the writing.

Jennifer is a very nice person and I loved her as a teacher. She really likes doing her job and is willing to help a student in any way. The tests were fair if you studied and went to class.

Jenn is a really good teacher and this was my second time taking her. The information she presents in the class is very interesting but it is mostly ALL powerpoint lecture. We did take a trip to the children\'s museum and arboritum which was fun because we finally got out of the class. About two times a week a short opinion paper is due on blackboard. There is one fairly large research paper and a presentation, but the bright side is, NO MIDTERMS! The final was really easy, just analyzing movie clips like Forest Gump and the Simpsons and saying how they relate to what we learned in class. I really enjoy Jenn but i found in both of her classes there is quite a bit of small essays.

Jennifer Jipson is a horrible professor because she lets her personal opinions get in the way of fair grading. Just because you disagree with her personal opinions does not give her the grounds to take it out on your grade. Forget her!

Jennifer is one of the best professor's I have had at Poly. She presents the material in a clear, interesting way. We got to take field trips to the arboretum and the Children's Museum downtown, which was a nice break from lecture. On all of the assignments, she lets you correct any mistakes you made and turn it back in for full credit. She also is very helpful with the big papers and is available for help. I'd say take the class it was interesting and fun!

ehhh.... not my favorite person at cal poly. There is no way to avoid her if you are in CD, but I wouldn't recommend taking her if you don't have to. Her lectures are pretty laid back, mostly discussion based, but she assigns a lot of papers and group projects. The papers really aren't bad, but come on, who really likes group projects? She has an interesting approach to teaching, but I think she is more focused on her personal life (her research) than her students. I was able to skate by doing bare minimum and still received A's and B's in every class I took with her.

This Professor, hands down, is the worst individual I have ever been taught by. Albeit she is very knowledgeable on her subject; and the class is very easy to breeze through; she is overly personally opinionated. There was a constant thick sense of being judged by her in her classroom. She made it extremely uncomfortable to go to class if you didn't agree with something she had to say. I highly DO NOT recommend.

I gave her a chance but this class was just, horrible...if you aren't a cd major then she will look down on you. I heard she was good at teaching cd 304 but this class I really really hated it. Everyone else dreaded this class. She gives pointless assignments, lectures are not helpful, theres no book which I kind of wish there was, the whole quarter is based on this Disco paper which you use for your other group presentation. She doesn't tell you until after an assignment is turned that she decided you can rewrite it. Theres also another paper due on an in class video that takes all period so don't miss that. The final is a film fest, the videos are a summary of the Disco groups, then you just write in class what you learned from the presentation. She didn't tell us until half way through the presentations that we should be taking notes since thats going to be our final. She doesn't post anything on polylearn or on the board in class, so you are always lost. I never hated a class so much. It frustrated me because if she was clear then I could be doing a lot better than I was, that went for a lot of people. take it with somebody else if you can.

I was in the same class as the person below me, and I am not sure why they hated the class so much. I loved going to class, because I knew I wouldn't just be sitting there for two hours listening to lecture. The grade was based on a few big projects and papers, which scared me at first, but it wasn't so bad. I am not a fan of group projects at all, but this class forced me out of my comfort zone. I ended up learning a lot and truly enjoyed my time in class. As long as you put in the effort, ask for help, and look over the rubrics for the papers you will be fine.

I absolutely appreciated all of the insight and support she gave me throughout my senior project. I believe it is because of her guidance that I never felt stressed or overwhelmed. I appreciate how she sat down during with me during our first meeting and laid out exactly what should be done each week. This really helped me organize my materials and focus. I think most importantly, she were very easy to contact and responded to any questions that I had, no matter what time it was, in what seemed like a matter of seconds! Jen is extremely committed to the CD/PSY program. All of her dedication and passion shows through when she teaches each of her students and inspires them to learn more.
