Is it ok to have a crush on your teacher? He's a hottie.

I am normally informative on polyratings, but simply put, this guy is an asshole. I really do not know where to start with him. So far he has 4 good polyratings. I do not know how he got those. Just wait until december when my whole CE114 class gives him bad reviews. Basically he makes a 100 level class, intro to AutoCad, feel like its a 400 level class. You have to do so much work while the other sections are doing 1/4 the work and pulling A's. We are in the lab for the full 3 hours every class meeting. This guy does NOT answer your questions unless you are female. If you ask him a question, he responds with a question. Your lab write ups are so indepth its ridiculous. OUr labs average 6-7 pages, while the other sections do 1 1/2 pages. He does know his stuff, but he is just a prick. Everyone in my class wants to beat him with a club. Plus he looks like a wet cat.

This guy apparently didnt get the memo. Its CE-114 not CE-400. If you want to stay in the lab for all 3 hours, then take this teacher. If you want to have class a week later than the other class, then take him. If you want to take a final, then take him. If you want to risk getting a C in a class that is supposed to be an easy A or guaranteed B, then take this guy. If you want have pop quizzes, then take this guy. He does know the material, but refuses to answer your questions willingly. Its your choice. Disregard the good polyratings as well cuz they are not very accurate.

I was taking this class because I switched majors. Like the person below me said, "did he get the memo that this was CE 114 and not CE 400." The first couple of evaluations are probably by some giddy school girls that just like him because they think he is cute. I like what someone said below. "He looks like a wet cat" Hahahaha. This teacher is a complete ass. He takes this class like it was a graduate level class and forgets that most people in the class are either freshman or sophmore. He would continually ask questions about material that most students wouldn't have taken and then either gets mad or smirks becuase he know no one knows the answer. I got tired of his bull shit and just started answering his questions because I didn't want to give him the glory of thinking he was the all intelligent man. The class contained a lot of report writing. Way more than should have been for this kind of class. He doesn't pass the reports back until way late, but gets mad at you for mistakes that you made on reports that you turned in before you got the other ones back. Hmmm lets think about this, how are we supposed to fix mistakes on the ones being turned in before we have gotten the previous ones back. Apparently that didn't run through his head. He does know his structures but that is about it. He tried to argue some fluids thing with me but i had to let him know that he was wrong. (I used to be an AERO major. I think I know my fluids.) Oh yeah, DON'T SPELL HIS NAME WRONG!!! He doesn't like that one too much. Appartently he also likes to correct you a lot for spelling and grammer errors but if you look closely at his papers that he gives you they are also loaded with spelling and grammer errors. For instance he couldn't use the right form of TO and TOO or used MEAT instead of MEET. (Not a hard on to get there) He doesn't like to answer questions either, but rather answer your question with a question. Come on now, if we knew the answer would we have asked for help. Overall this teacher really sucks and needs a reality check back to earth or wait a one way ticket to the land of stuck up engineers who think the world is theirs and just know everything. If you have a chance avoid this guy. Oh yeah if you are a girl then he likes you a lot. They have no problem getting questions answered.

The class was a lot of work, but some people just complained too much. There were only 4 reports. He expects your reports to be pretty thorough, but he gives you a lot of feedback and the later ones are worth more. Quizzes are easy if you read and pay attention. I think the people complaining were the ones who kept asking the same questions that he answered 5 times already. Final was just easy points. He would answer questions all period long, and while he wouldn't give you the answer, he would lead you to it and keep explaining until you got it. He also gives a lot of extra credit at the end, that leaves you with a pretty good AutoCad reference. The only reason I got a B, was because I slacked. Keep up on the work and you have and A.

Good class, could use more AutoCAD, but I feel I learned the basics. A lot of the class was professional writting, which was difficult at times, but good to learn. Neal was good at always checking up on how we were coming along, and spent a lot of time helping out groups. The reports weren't too bad, because there were only 4 of them.

He goes over, in a lot of detail, the Autocad work. His demonstrations sometimes go too fast, but he will always stop to answer questions. During the busy part of the quarter he got rid of one of the lab write ups to make it easier. He relates a lot of the class to real world examples, and seems to have a decent amount of experience for a young teacher. Be careful on the Autocad word, he grades it with a fine toothed comb. A lot of people who had other professors for this lab told me they didn't learn any autocad, but I feel I covered a lot and could use it now. I would recommend him if you want to learn something in the class.

Joel is on a constant power trip. He knows his stuff but wants you to be ahead of the game. He has very hard time informing his students what is expected of them. He lets you hand in assignments then right before he returns them he tells you what he was really looking for. I took this class thinking that it was an introduction to autocad but it turned into report writting 101. Save some time and energy on busy work dont take Neal.

Mr. Neal is a great teacher. He worked with everyone to make sure they got it, no matter how long it took. He was helpful and energetic about the material. Seriously, ignore any negative comments and take this guy, he was one of the most consistently helpful teachers I've had.

CE 114 lecture is completely pointless but I loved the lab! You do a few AutoCAD projects in class and in groups. Everyone does their own drawings and Joel tells you everything you need to know to do the drawings. I had never used AutoCAD before this class but I love it! Joel is an excellent teacher and I would definately take him again for any class!

Overall, I thought Joel was a good professor. Yes, he does grade tough, but in the long run I have learned a lot about AutoCAD. He can lecture pretty quickly, but he was always willing to help me out when I had questions. I would recommend him.

Does a good job covering the material. He spent time in the areas where the class was struggling, and was helpful in answering questions. His quizes were hard sometimes, but he always provided a lot of feedback and went over them in class. I would recommend taking him if you get a chance.

The class was very helpful in filling in a lot of holes that were missed in the lecture. He always took time to answer questions and worked with people until everything was clear. He is a nice guy, and kept the class entertaining.

Mr. Neal is a grad student who knows his stuff. Seriously this guy is smart. Even though he can tell you every technical detail of the problem, he still is able to explain it in a way that I could understand. He gives weekly quizzes that help make sure you really know what
