I was hoping this class would be more interesting than it turned out to be. Paul is very knowledgable and loves his field, but the class was insanely dry and difficult to show up to. The tests are fairly simple if you follow the study guide, and I expect him to curve the grades quite a lot. Paul is a reasonable teacher and treats the class just like the introductory class that it is.

Best professor ever. Just fill out the study guide and the midterms and final will be so easy. Lectures are a bit dry, but to do well in the class all you need to do is go through the study guide and find the answers in the lecture slides.

First of all, I would plan on taking a light load of classes when you take 115. I was only taking 13 but it was by far the busiest quarter I\'ve had at CP. Throughout the quarter we all designed a small house, drawing the floor plans, site & roof plans, elevations, structural plans, foundation plans, electrical & mechanical plans. Most of these are drawn in autoCAD, except we originally hand-drafted the floor plans, elevations, and ten details.....which takes forever, especially if you haven\'t drafted before. You also create a 3D model of your house in a program called revit. Before you do each of these plans, he gives a lecture walking you through it, and you also have a binder with very good descriptions of what to do, but it is still very challenging and time consuming. The best thing to do is to bring whatever plans you\'re working on to his office hours, and he will tell you EXACTLY what you need to do and answer any of your questions. You will definitely succeed if you do that. He even says \"I want everyone to get A\'s,\" and you can tell he means it. Anyways, the house is only half the class. We also learn how to do a bunch of quantity take-offs, which involve calculating the quantity of something in a job such as the cubic yards of concrete, board feet of lumber for framing, or how many sheets of plywood for a floor.... you get the jist. These consist of reading plans and doing tons of tedious math. There are so many numbers to run through and so much counting that you will inevitably make mistakes, even though the math/equations themselves were very simple. After we finished QTO\'s, we went through a bunch of exercises about scheduling. In QTO/Scheduling we had a homework assignment (or 2) most nights that takes 1-2 hours. There is a wide range of difficulty in the homework assignments.....some a 5 year old could do and some were really confusing. There were 3 tests along the way regarding QTO/scheduling, and some other various things. The tests are medium difficulty. As terrible as this all might sound, I\'m pretty sure almost everyone in the class loves Paul Weber. He\'s really funny and he\'s extremely knowledgeable and helpful. You get to know him pretty well because you\'re in there for 16 hrs/wk. I could definitely say that I have never learned that much in a class before. Take his class and won\'t regret it. Paul is the man.

Paul\'s a great person, but a horrible teacher. He knows the material like the back of his hand but doesn\'t tell you what he\'s going to be grading you on. He doesn\'t grade fairly, if you make one tiny mistake at the beginning of the problem and it skews your future answers you don\'t get any partial credit. If you don\'t have the exact same answer as him he\'ll just mark it wrong, no partial credit. Whenever you ask him a question, half the time he\'ll just say \"It\'s in the packet\" but the packet isn\'t organized well so it\'s a pain in the ass to find anything in it. He over explains really simple things (area of a triangle), and then just skips over really detailed brand new construction management things and apparently thinks you just learn by osmosis. Fun person, bad teacher, I would not recommend him.

Paul is a cool teacher, but this class is a TON of work. Take a light load this quarter if you're taking this class. I made the mistake of taking this with BRAE and English 145. I barely slept... Paul's class is not terribly hard, but very time consuming. Every night you have an assignment that takes about an hour to do. Half of the quarter they are about takeoffs, and the other half is scheduling. There are four exams and several cad/revit drawings. On the drawings, make sure to take notes of everything he says to change when you have a chance to review the drawing with him. I easily could have gotten a B in this class, but bombed two drawings, and my grade took a nosedive. He is a tough grader, and does pick favorites in class, but as far as an intense 4 hour lab class goes, Paul is definitely the man to have for it. And once you get into the scheduling half of the quarter, you usually get out after about an hour and a half of class.

The material is fairly easy, but it is a lot of work. You go the full four hours about half the time, but he always gives you at least a 30 minute lunch break. Unlike Elbert, you won't do the homework in class, but Weber teaches Revit (as opposed to Elbert who teaches Archicad). He genuinely cares about his students and will stay on campus until late a night before a project is due, and always bakes cookies on exam days. His exams are just like the homework.

Paul was by far my favorite professor this quarter. The class, while being 4 hours a day and 4 days a week, was actually very enjoyable. It was a lot of very tangible material that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. Paul is by far the best teacher for this class, and he knows the material like the back of his hand. The tests and work are definitely hard and require significant effort, but he sets you up well to learn the material. If you can, take him. He's an awesome guy, a superb teacher, and a great baker (he brings you DELICIOUS cookies and milk on midterm and final days).

As hard of a class as this is, it is IMPOSSIBLE not to love paul as a teacher. My only tip..don't procrastinate - if you wait until 10 minutes before class to print up your plans and the plotter is down you will receive a lower score for it being late, but that's fair, you were supposed to do the work the night before, not the day of...if it was down the night before and you let him know early you wont receive a late score.

Paul is hands down the best teacher at Cal Poly! He is super dedicated and is in his office from early in the morning to late at night. You can call him on his cell phone if you have any questions about the course, but he also leaves his phone open to you if you have any problems you want to talk about. Paul loves his students more than you can imagine, he is literally the coolest teacher I have ever had. One thing I recommend is just getting to know him. He has a lot of life wisdom and construction knowledge to share. Everyone who took Paul said they were very glad they did, and everyone who took the easy way out and skipped Paul's class regrets it. In 4 words I can sum it up... PAUL IS THE MAN!

CM 115 is an extremely time-consuming, material-heavy class. Doesn't seem so at first, but the pressure ratchets up halfway through the quarter. Paul is a very informative, smart guy who knows his stuff. He is also EXTREMELY helpful, so never be afraid to ask him for anything if you want help or advice or anything on this class or honestly anything related to construction. However, he does grade pretty pickily on hand-drafts and AutoCAD plans. He grades exams pretty strictly too. This can get annoying or difficult when there are a lot of assignments to complete, so just be prepared for that. Also be prepared for him to drone on and on about stuff he clearly loves to talk about but can get boring really quickly. However, he is definitely one of the best professors out there when it comes to student-professor relationships, and he really makes us feel important and valuable in his class. Overall, I loved the professor and would take him again if I had the chance, but the class itself was kind of a drag/drain on my quarter.

Please, please take Professor Weber. He is the kindest man I have ever met while also being the most knowledgable professor I have met. He has tons of real-world experience in architecture and construction management, while also genuinely caring about your well-being as a student and as a human being. Paul made class really fun and he's very aware of how much work it is. Even through this, I learned such an incredible amount of material in such a short amount of time while still having lots of fun. I cannot recommend Paul highly enough! ** You will most likely get a B with Paul, but you will walk away knowing the material.

Paul Weber is a GREAT GUY. His class is a lot of work but it isn't REALLY that hard at the end of the day. Stay on top of your work and you'll get through with an A or a B. Paul is amazing if you get to know him and will help you if you ask. He cares deeply about his students and wants you to succeed. 5 stars.

PAUL IS THE MAN! First, of all this class is very time consuming. You are in class for 16 hours a week and you end up staying after to work on homework or projects, but without a doubt it is where you will learn the most in your CM/ARCE career at Cal Poly! Paul is so knowledgable. He is an architect and has done a lot of residential work. He uses his real-life experiences to teach you in class. He is really funny, nice and just a genuine guy. On the first day of class he gave us his private number and told us, we can call him regarding class questions from 9AM-9PM but can call him 24-7 regarding anything else in life... so yeah he's cool! A few evaluations below pretty much explained the class so I will not go much into that, I will just tell you why you should take Paul. You are in CM or ARCE because you are passionate about this! You want to learn and grow and Paul will definitely get you there! Just being in class with him for 4 hours 4 days a week will help you retain a lot of his knowledge! TAKE PAUL!!!!

Weber is awesome. The course itself is time consuming but there is no way to avoid that...esp the first two weeks when everything is done by hand. However, Weber makes sure that you understand the material by the time you leave the course and somehow makes it more enjoyabke with all his "jive" and dead cat in gutters talk. He also brings cookies...how can you hate a man with cookies? The class has 3 tests that he clarifies the information you need to know. Projects are usually 100 pts and so are tests and you have a total of like 1700 points that your grade is based on. You can also turn assignments in late but your grade is lowered. A lot of times if the class had a good reason to postpone a due date, he would. And you get work days where you dont have to come to class. Overall, the structure of the class makes all that wor as enjoyable as it can get. Definately take him if you can.
