I usually left Jenn's class thinking about what we had covered and applying the knowledge to other situations. Jenn likes to have question in her mind before she receives the answer, so she often will try to help you understand why you need to know something before she teaches what you need to know. The activity part of Jenn's class could use a little better organization. Jenn shows enthusiasm for the subject and explains it well.

First off, Jennifer is probably one of the nicest and easiest to talk to teacher's I've had at Cal Poly. While this is a definite plus to the class' atmosphere, it still doesn't negate the issues I found with the class. While her lectures are relatively informative and stay on topic, they're often difficult to translate to notes that are clear after the fact. This may be attributed to the nature of the class, but becomes an issue when studying later on nonetheless. Secondly, for almost every homework assignment, homework solutions, midterms, and the final she had to either make clarifications, minor corrections, and in a few cases correct very large issues with her math or process. It was her first time teaching the class so there's bound to be a few minor bumps along the way as she puts together a teaching plan, but to consistently have this many issues was on the extreme side. By the end of the quarter many of us would joke about how the homework solutions were probably wrong only to get an email several hours later that it had been reuploaded with the correct solutions. On the bright side, at least she's willing to correct the mistakes she makes and improve the class for the next time she teaches it. My main gripe is that for each new topic we covered, there was typically only one homework problem as we had no textbook. While to some this might be a blessing versus the standard repeating problems over and over again, I find it hard to correctly remember the procedure for different problem types on the final after only doing it once. Overall, it was a decent class and would recommend it to anyone taking Arce 226 in the future.
