Fine teacher, but a little dry in the presentation. I wouldnt suggest having her at 8:00 in the morning, might be difficult staying awake.

I think the problem with Lindert is she knows too much chemistry and gets super stoked about it when she lectures in class. She gets so pumped her eyes literally get bigger it freaks you out. Not only that, but she tends to stare at the ceiling when she lectures too...another reason to prove that she knows too much chemistry because sometimes it looks like as if she is talking to herself instead of to the class. Dont take this person ever again. This was supposed to be an intro class, and it definitely wasnt. Her tests were ridiculously hard and the whole class failed the 2nd midterm. So once again, I will repeat, dont take this person ever again!

she is an awful teaher. the poor woman.. she is very nice and very very unclear about everything. chem isn't that bad but i found the book a better tool than her lectures. nice human being though

Lindert can be confusing, yes, but if you do not understand what she explains in lecture, go to her office hours. She is not the best lecture teacher, but she can be extremely helpful in a one-on-one situation. It is obvious that she genuinely cares about chemistry and she wants all her students to succeed, if they are willing to put in the time to study and really learn the material.

Do not take Lindert if you didnt take AP Chemistry. She does not explain well. You basiclly have to learn all the material on your own. So read the book and do the problems she assigns from the textbook. The second midterm was very difficult, the class average was a 59%. The final is also very difficult too. If you have no choice but to take this class, I suggest you to get a tutor or get into a workshop or study session. Taking this class definitely lowers your G.P.A. so try to avoid her!

Overall, I would have to say that Dr. Lindert was not a bad professor per-say, but she definitely has some pros as well as cons. Her office hours are fairly helpful, and I wish I had gone more. I had her in the afternoon though, and there were definitely a few times that I was put to sleep. In a few cases while we were taking notes in class, she would correct herself multiple times. Now don't get me wrong, it's fine to mess up, were all human. When you screw up seven times in the same lecture though, I lose track of what to write down. Sometimes she would bring in demonstrations to show how things worked, though, and those were pretty cool. From burning a gummy bear to blowing up a hydrogen balloon, I'd say there were some good examples in her class. Had her tests not been so difficult, I would have enjoyed the class more. They are VERY long and sometimes you wouldn't even be able to finish. Overall, I would say that Dr. Lindert was a decent professor. Not stellar, but not awful either.

Lindert's lectures are super boring. I hate power point lectures, and that's what you get all quarter. She is fair when it comes to preparing you for the midterms and final. Her practice midterms definitely help a lot, so PRACTICE them. I had to have a friend pretty much tutor me to get the grade I got, but I do know people who really liked her. It pretty much comes down to what sort of teaching method you prefer.

I really don't understand why Lindert has such low ratings. There is a basic formula for doing well in her lab and lecture. Do your work, take the quizzes, pay attention in class, get a good grade. You don't even really need to read the book to understand her lecture. I did have some experience in chemistry from high school, but was in no way solid on the understanding. If you go into her office hours and ask her simply how to do a question for a lab or a missed problem on a midterm, she will be passive aggressive and make you feel like a little kid, but who wouldn't? Show some effort, make a solid attempt at the problem, get your eraser ready to use and go into her office hours for help, not to be taught. No homework, or at least none that is collected. She has semi-weekly quizzes on blackboard that you have unlimited attempts at until the deadline (and most of the answers are on yahoo answers or somewhere on google). Two midterms and a final, the midterms are a bit long and you will definitely work up until the end of class, however she understands this. My first midterm was during a record heat in SLO, it was 103 outside and considerably hotter inside our 93 person lecture hall. She felt bad for us, and gave the whole class a few points just for having to put up with the heat. Her final was considerably easier, I got an A on the final despite earning a C and low B on both of the midterms. All in all, give her a chance, if you are willing to put in the slightest bit of effort into the class then you will be rewarded with an awesome understanding of chemistry and a generally pleasant time doing so.

Lindert is probably the most clueless person I've ever met. She has no idea how to teach and her students have to correct her on most of the material. Her class average was a 65% because she made tests way harder than what she taught and they usually had errors in them which didn't help. She grades how she feels, I was a full letter grade above average all quarter but then at the end of the class I had a C. She bumps up your score if she thinks you improved over the quarter so if you don't do better on your final than you did on your other tests you get screwed like I did. If you want a good GPA then find a different teacher.

Let me first off say this class was at 8am MWF so given i was a bit irritable at that hour, but still I HATED THIS LECTURE, she probably corrected herself or students corrected her, once every 5 minutes for 70 minutes!, 14 corrections per lecture and she found every one of them funny.....i was not amused. I found myslef throwing my pen down at least twice a lecture, not because the material was too hard for me to grasp, in fact i dont think there was one thing in the class that I have not covered in a previous class, but because she screws up so much you dont know what to write down. The average on her quizes were 65 and 57...... this is a survey class, obviously a newer professor who needs to work on her organization in lecture, in a 70 minute lecture you cannot make so many mistakes you WILL LOSE the interest of students FAST!, i lost all respect for her by the end of the quarter and recomend she practices her lectures before she comes to class. It seems like she is confused on whether shes teaching the survey class or the real thing, never knows what she wants you to know, the whole lecture seemed like a collection of fragmented facts, at the end of almost every fact would be her saying we will talk about this more later. I am a Bio major and this is not a difficult course for a bio major, but she made it unbearable, dont expect to fail this course but dont expect to enjoy it either, I would recomend taking another professor at least for a couple more years. fewwww im done ranting hopefully this helps

THIS IS THE WORST CLASS I HAVE EVER TAKEN! There is no way around this class if you have to take it, it is shitty, no matter who the teacher is im afraid. As far as Dr. L went, she was pretty bad, she went on an on about all this material that we were supposed to memorize but only tested us on very specific points regarding lecture, then she would make this one super specific question worth 25 points so if you got it wrong you were screwed. STUDY EVERYTHING. Every day of lecture was like a nightmare, she would use all 70 minutes to cram in everything she could regardless of if we understood it or not. I left class every day with a headache and felt like it would be a miracle if i actually passed, which suprisingly i did, but it took 11 weeks of constant studying to do so. If you thought for a second Ochem was bad, welcome to the exciting world of Biochem, it is about 10 times worse, and this teacher doesnt make it any easier.

Dr. Lindert is a nice person outside of the classroom. Inside the class room she seems like a nice person, she is always happy and cheerful during her lectures. Do not let that fool you, she was one of the worst prof I have had a cal poly. She crams in as much stuff as she can during the lecture that overwelms your brain. There is so much material, it is unbelievable. The way she structures it, you do not know how it fits together. She then tests you on the most insignificant points and makes it worth so many points. The midterm and the final were the hardest tests I have had to take. She adds stuff to the test she has never lecturedon. Also she tells you that you do not need to worry about things, but you really do. I would not recommend this teacher anyone.

Not to put down these other people but they must not have taken anyother real science clases in COSAM. There are science classes that are FAR worse than this class could ever be. I feel that Dr. Lindert taught the class up to the standards of all other sciences classes I have taken here. Science is supposed to be difficult, not easy. This class is a survey class, but survey of ochem was much harder. I feel the tests were straight forward if you went to class and did the practice problems from the book. I recomend her and I liked the class.

Let me first say that Biochem is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE EASY. So dont think this class is going to be a roll in the hay. BUT...Dr. Lindert is not at all as bad as these ratings make her. She SPOON FEEDS us weekly handouts with questions of everything we are supposed to know, and there are problems in the book to supplement the learning. The class and grading is straight forward: there are 4 quizzes (the lowest is dropped), 1 midterm, and the final. She also will curve at the END of the quarter. Overall, the quizzes make you stay ontop of the material, which makes the midterm and final less stressfull.
