Dr. Lindert is a horrible teacher. Almost the entire class failed her 2nd midterm and she blamed it on us! She doesn\'t know how to clearly present the material and her tests are WAY too hard for an intro class! Please don\'t take her unless you want to ruin your chances of getting into graduate school. Most of the students didn\'t pass, even with a private tutor.

If you care about your G.P.A (and Im guessing you do if your taking this class) DO NOT TAKE GEN CHEM WITH HER! As mentioned in another review, she blamed a class average of 59% on the midterm ON HER STUDENTS! The majority of an entire class failing is indicative of the teaching methods, not the \"students lack of hard work\" as she heartlessly put it. I had a private tutor that taught other sections of 127 with different professors and she said our section was by far the hardest and had the most ridiculous expectations of all the 127 classes she has EVER tutored! My friends took Keeling (sp?) and Bush (sp?) and both passed with B\'s while I got a C- (even tho I was helping them with their homework and quizzes)...Anyways sorry for the long review, just trying to save you unnecessary agony that comes with taking her for Gen Chem.

Lindert is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. Only once during the entire quarter did she manage to get one of her own examples correct. And when a student had a question, and she failed to explain it she said, "don't worry you'll get it"... the average in our class for the first midterm was a 55%. There has been multiple occassions in class where students get so frustrated with her that they stop listening, and begin talking to eachother inorder to figure out what is going on. Sometimes she ignores this, other times it can take up to five minutes for her to regain the classes attention. I learned more from reading the theorems in the book than I did from her Lectures. She expects you to understand every conceptual detail that goes along with the equations she writes down without going over them. She should be audited. Kill yourself before you take this class.

From what I've heard she's not too bad for 313, but if you're in any of the 127-129 classes then take someone else. I had her for 128 and she is literally the most clueless, least helpful teacher I've ever had. She has no idea what's going on and constantly has to be corrected. I saw that some of the reviews said that she was really helpful in office hours, but that's not what I experienced. One of my friends went to her office hours to ask her a question about the homework that she hadn't explained in class, instead of helping, lindert told her that she should be able to figure it out on her own and to get out of the room because there were other people waiting. Definitely one of the worst teachers I've ever had.

I am a Chemistry major who took AP Chem and I honestly believe that is the only reason I did well in this class. Not only is Lindert extremely boring in lecture, but often it seems as though she has no idea what she is talking about. On our final students had to point out over five mistakes to her and she is clearly unorganized. On my first midterm she added up my points wrong, causing my score to drop two letter grades. I would not suggest taking her unless you already know the material and are simply taking this course as a required class.

Do not take this professor if you can avoid her. She is awful at explaining the material and her midterms are 10 times harder than the practice she offers. Also, before midterms she gives a practice study guide and answers half of the problems wrong herself. I would strongly recommend taking any other professor if you have the option, especially if this is a support or major course because you will end up having to teach yourself the material.

Professor Lindert doesn't seem that bad at first. However as the quarter goes on you will realize that her lectures do not tie together and she does not tell you have everything relates to each other. Her tests are extremly hard. In class you may think you understand the material but then her tests are a whole level above. She is very approachable in office hours and she is a very nice person, I will give her that.

Lindert is a really nice and caring teacher. Besides the fact that she sometimes looks at the ceiling when she talks, she presents all of the course material very clearly and in an interesting way. I stopped reading the book halfway through the course because her lecture notes were primarily where the test and quiz questions came from. I would recommend taking lindert for this course because she is a very good teacher.

I thought biochem was going to be extremely difficult, but with Dr. Lindert it wasn't bad at all. She gives you all you need to know in class with her notes...which are easy to undrstand. And if you don't understand, she'll break it down even further. She also gives you a weekly handout that has questions you should be able to answer for the test. This makes it really easy to study for the test. And the tests aren't bad at all. The first test was really easy, so i thought the second was going to be harder...but it wasn't! I still have to take another midterm and a final...but I'm not worried. She's an excellent teacher.

OK.i dont know where to begin. first of all, a little background so you know im not just ripping on a teacher. Im a kinesiology major and i absolutely love chemistry. this is my 5th chemistry class ive taken at poly and i might actually switch over to chem as a major. with that said.. i hated going to this class for the sole reason of lindert. she made this class so unenjoyable for me. she is by far the worst professor i have ever had and ill tell you why: 1. she stares at the ceiling when she talks to her class which is very distracting 2. she can't lecture to save her life. i'm sure dr. lindert is a very smart person but i think she should stick to her experimental work with enzymes and not try to teach 3. her lectures are sooo disorganized. she will talk about several different things in one lecture and it's so hard to tie them together to see a bigger picture 4. she provides weekly handouts with questions to answer to study for the test, which is good, but at least like 5 quesions on there she expects us to answer when we have NEVER gone over it. and when you go to her office hours to ask her if we need to know it, she's like ya.. and she will explain it really quick and you've never heard it before in lecture. 5. she is very very confusing in lecture. she doesnt explain things clearly and she herself often has a hard time trying to figure some concepts out. sometimes she will confuse herself and start writing something down and so her class will start writing the notes down as well and she will have to stop and be like, "oh wait, im sorry, thats wrong" and she will erase what she wrote and write something completely new. if she is confused, how do you think the students feel 6. she will elaborate on some unimportant story during class (like how she almost died) that has no relevance to the course and then because she wasted so much time in class, she will try to cram a ton of information in during the last 3 mintues of class. not kidding you, last like 3 minutes. she'll talk faster and try to squeeze all this info in and expect you to know what she's talking about and then she will barely recover what she told you the next class period. i mean, ya u can go into her office hours and ask her, but office hours are supposed to be for mastering a concept, or clarifying something that is confusing, not to learn new information apart from the class!! 7. her office hours are helpful but at the same time it is always sooo crowded in her office that it is hard to get any help at all because she doesnt teach it right the first time in class!! 8. she often ends class around 2 minutes after class is supposed to end on the hour. in this time, she is trying to fit all this important info into her lecture so you cant pack up and leave or else you will miss what she is trying to teach. plus, people who have to catch the bus or have another class across campus right after are at a disadvantage. very rarely did i have a good day in that class with that woman. i mean there are bad teachers and i believe her to be one of them so if you can, i would advise you not to take this class with dr. lindert. granted a few people think differently than i do, but most of the class shares at least part of my view. good luck! (sorry if this sounds like im totally baggin on her but i have a lot of built up frustration and anger from her teaching that i thought i would share with her future students so they can at least be warned)

Lindert is not that bad at all, she's completely average. Don't be scared by these postings. I thought gen chem was WAY worse than this class. Some topics were actually cool to learn about. If you gotta take her, than do it, and don't pay attention what people are saying. If you try you will pass, no doubt.

Dr. Lindert is a really good teacher that cares about her students. She is always willing to help clarify and explain things in office hours, and it is your lose if you do not take advantage of her office hours. You have to dedicate alot of time to studying the material if science is not your strong point, but at the end of the quarter you will feel like you learned alot. The tests care somewhat easy if you studied. The few essay questions are half of the grade, so if you do not know those answers you will automatically not do so well on the tests. The other half of the test is scanatron questions. This is a class that you need to study for on a continual basis throughout the quarter. There are 3 midterms and a final and lab is worth alot. I would recommend her to my friends and tell them to go to office hours.

I heard terrible things about Lindert when I began this class. She is a very nice lady but is quite unhelpful in office hours. You need to read the book and study with a friend. If you know all the answers to all the questions on her handouts you will be able to pass (which is what I did) but you need to know more than I did obviously to get an A. I thought the lab was super hard, I wish I had taken 313 instead of 371 but I thought I was going to take Metabolism. Anyway, make sure you study and find someone to study with. Lab is really hard and it's unclear on how to get a good grade on them, maybe it's because I haven't done labs in a long time, but yeah, they take forever. You'll probably spend like 10 hours on your lab out of class each week and then another number of hours studying for lecture, there were 3 tests and a cummulative final that was part scantron and not that bad. She also has you do a Find Your Own Protein exercise which was dumb and easy and then another kinetics or protein exercise. Also: amino acids are your friends.

Dr. Lindert was a nice person on very rare occasions. I'm pretty sure there's a good side to her, but then several times she would say something so outlandishly unfair or rude that my friend and I would stare at each other in shock... at which point she usually moderated what she'd just said by saying something a little bit better. Usually her attitude toward her students was very condescending and the way she said things seemed to say 1) you should know this already, 2) you are going to mess this up, and 3)don't get on my bad side. One person I talked to says it's because she pms's really bad, but if she's like that every day, I don't think that's pmsing. Her class isn't that bad, but her attitude, and her voice, drove me crazy the whole time. At the beginning of the quarter you have to pass a buffer quiz or you fail the whole class. It's not that bad, but if you fail the first one then you have to do your next attempts while doing labs at the same time which makes things hectic and much harder than they should be. At the end of the quarter she made us do a protein imaging lab online, which was a pain because the program you are supposed to use doesn't work that well. These may be required no matter what teacher you have though, so just avoid her if you can.
