kevin was an awesome teacher. he went out of his way to make sure that the class understood the material. the class is not all that hard, i am terrible at math and i still did well (it was because of kevin's teaching ability that i did well). there were two midterms and a final, which were all easy. if you have trouble with the class, i suggest going to his office hours because he is more than willing to help. there is a decent amount of homework to do, but its collected once a week so there is time to procrastinate on it. i would definitely recomend kevin for math 118 because you will truly learn the material and understand how to apply it on a test.

I would highly recommend professor McCandless, if you don't mind that your teacher looks like a bird. If I would have been able to concentrate I would have passed, but Kevin's birdlike features distracted me throughout the quarter (which is strange based on his skinny chicken legs). This guy belongs in a natural geographic or nature book, but I think he knows a little about math too. Watch out for his sharp elbows. Take the McCandless!!!

First off, Mr. McCandless is a grad student and is in his fith year at Cal Poly. He has three midterms, one of which you can drop. There is daily homework and weekly quizzes. The quizzes are very easy and just check your understanding. His tests are fair and are representative of what we do in class and in the homework. His office hours are very helpful and everyone should definitely go to them because it will help your grade in the end. His class requires work, but not an unreasonable amount.

Course was pretty easy as long as you did homework and were willing to teach yourself a little bit at home. Homework was assigned every day, and due and corrected every Tuesday and Friday. Easy quiz every Friday, basically free points. You get to drop one of the 3 midterms or have your final worth 20% instead of 40%. Kevin teaches well and is willing to stop and explain things that students are having problems with. He is a grad student too so he understands what it's like to be a student and helps you out there. A really cool guy, would definately reccommend!

Kevin is an awesome teacher. He is really funny and makes it fun for you to learn math. I on my failed on my own account. If I would have done my homework, I could have passed that class with an A. I highly reccomend him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy is awesome! I almost waited to take 142 till he would have a chance to teach it. Not only is Kevin really chill, approachable, and social; he can actually TEACH. Why is it that it takes a Grad student to be able to convey information clearly??!?! Does an awesome job at answering students questions in class. More than willing to meet with you in or out of office hours. Goes at a pace slow enough for everybody to understand, and is always looking for ways to improve himself as a teacher. Do whatever you can to crash his class(es).

Kevin McCandless is relatively fair when it comes to grading and the load of homework that he assigns. His personality and his teaching style are a whole other story. He is one of the biggest dicks I have ever met. I would ask simple questions on things that I didn't understand and he would pretend as if I wasn't there. He is way too cocky for only being a grad student. What the hell am I paying all this money to go to school to learn from some second rate teacher.

Kevin is a really good teacher but I sometimes found it odd that he would allways talk about his girlfriend in class. I mean I am glad he is in a good relationship but I dont need to hear about it every day. Does anyone else think he looks like a bird?

Kevin is a big pimp daddy: coolest teacher i've had at poly it sucks he is only a grad student and is leaving. I didn't take precalc in hs and stepped right into 141 at poly. crap. Not advisable unless you have a teacher like kevin that will sit down with you and take the time to help you understand the material. I was basically in his office more than he was. He was extremely helpful and just a cool guy to talk to. Thanks Kevin

This teacher was ok, he wasnt the best but having high school calc helped me out alot. If u havent taken calc before dont take him cause u are going to be confused throughout the quarter. I ended up with a B+ in the class so that was sweet. This guy is grad student and he would do his best to answer any questions from the hwk, he would spend more time doing hwk problems on the board instead of teaching the new material. Pretty much, there were no quizzes, just two midterms worth 25% each and a final worth 35%. Hwk was due every tuesday and it was worth 15% of the grade. Just have a good time with calc 2, it wont be easy but it will sure be fun.

mccandless taught a good class. the only reason why i got a high c was becausee i don't do homework. heh. i did pretty well on the tests. but anyways! like the person before me, he DOES spend a lot of time on homework problems rather than presenting new material. you are going to be confused if you haven't taken calc before. the way he teaches is clear and succinct, you might need to go to office hours because sometimes he proves himself wrong in class and then we end up spending 30 minutes on one problem because he wants to figure it out for "math's sake." do the homework. he lets you drop one homework assignment, but that's it. there are no quizzes, just two middys and a final. sometimes he will stick examples from the book into the test, so be sure to study those too. then you will do just fine.

When Kevin McCandless is not working on Calc he can be found flying at high altitudes. He enjoys gliding through wide open mountain ranges. His diet consists of tiny grubs and birds smaller than the McCandless. Unlike any other bird the McCandless has an extremely long wing span. Birdwatchers beware: You can only see the McCandless during the day. He is very frightened of the dark.

Although he teaches well, it is hard to concentrate and see the board when he flaps his bony wings like every 30 seconds. Tests are fair, and make sure to do your hw or youll really "ruffle his feathers". Hard to concentrate sometimes because he constantly screams KAAAAAKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWKKKKKKKKKAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
