Lectures are fairly useless, everything you have to know is from the slides which he posts online. Tests are pretty unfair, he expects you to memorize the smallest details from 300+ slides per midterm. I wish he actually taught something or made the class interesting enough to want to learn about packaging. Fairly useless class, just pure memorization.

Professor Singh did nothing but follow powerpoint slides EVERYDAY. There'd rarely be any discussion at all and I found the class to be lacking in stimulation. He'd pack in all these powerpoint slides during each lecture that you were expected to print out on your own (about 12 pages a lecture) and simply follow along. From the start of the class he told us that he'd be taking attendance but that'd happen rarely. Overall, the class is pretty easy.. all you gotta do is do well on the multiple choice midterms, final, and group project (which is all pretty much cake) and you're fine.

Be careful if you're taking this class. You learn everything there is to know about packaging, but you're not tested on it. By this, I mean you can have the lecture concepts down, but if you're not memorizing the little percentages and insignificant numbers on the slides, don't expect to get a good grade on the midterms or test. The tests are very unfair in difficulty, but the class itself is decently interesting. Singh is a great guy, and what we learned can be applied in the real world, but don't expect a good grade unless you have a sponge for a mind.

Dr Singh is a very good teacher, and is really chill. He does lecture straight off the slides and tests right off the slides. But the lectures can be very interesting, and he presents the material clearly and engages in discussions with the class. He is very well connected but doesn\'t brag about it. If you\'re considering this class for a GE, then take it. You\'ll learn a lot.

Jay is a very unique teacher. He moves pretty quickly and is very straighforward, but he is always available and ready to help students in office hours. His dedication and love for the program is undeniable, which is always a plus in a teacher. My interest for Packaging was definitey stimulated by his teaching. The tests are not too hard...and you can find all the information you need to study on his power points. There is also a lab with this course, which is fun and easy. Wish I would have studied harder for Test #2, but overall was a really good class!

Professor Singh is extremely passionate about IT and since this class was an introduction class, he really seemed to enjoy educating those who were not of the IT majors. His class was fair - tests were based off of lecture slides. But beware, you should definitely attend class because his tests asks a few questions about things he showed us or taught us in class. He was a very attentive teacher and was extremely helpful during office hours. Take him- you learn a lot of interesting things about the IT industry and work on a really cool final project!

Jay was a nice guy and presented the material clearly. He was helpful during office hours and never seemed like he was bothered by students. With that being said, I cared little about packaging before the class, and still dont care about packaging after the class. The tests are a compilation of random facts from the 250+ slides you must memorize for each exam. Good professor, class, especially exams, was organized poorly.

Jay Singh is a straight up OG thugging homie, the way he walks into the first day of class sets the standard of how open and intelligent he is in packaging. If you are an IT student BIG SINGH is the man! Just memorize everything on his powerpoints and then when he gives you an A in the class he'll give you a $100,000 starting salary. Man, Jay Singh will let you know who runs the Packaging World but just make sure you got a dope package design and your set for life. But real talk tho just memorize everything on the slides and ace the FINAL. And always ask Jay why he likes CARDBOARD!

Jay know's what he's talking about but is a terrible professor to be honest. He puts the slides up on the screen and talks the whole time...but you don't even need to go to class because the midterms are exactly what's on the slides. And when I say exactly, I mean it. The thing that made me the most angry was that his tests asked questions that were so specific on the slides (and small facts that really don't contribute to you learning anything...basically just making you memorize unimportant facts) that it didn't even matter if you actually knew the material, it was more if you were good at memorizing facts. Even worse, the lab instructors didn't care about anything. My lab instructor literally told my group "honestly i don't even care, i'm doing this because it'd be good to put on my resume and it pays pretty well."

It feels like a huge waste of money to attend a lecture that doesn't teach you anything. Half the students never showed up to class, because the power point slides already cover everything necessary. If the professor simply parrots information from the power point slides, then how does that benefit the students? The exams are also absurd. I can guarantee that ITP majors would receive dismal grades on these exams without preparation. Typical exam questions are on insignificant statistics. It's like having a history professor test you on every specific date of the events he covered in class. Knowing such info doesn't benefit anyone. Cal Poly classes should be more focused on critical thinking, not simply regurgitating information that the professor spews at you.

Nice guy who seems to really care about his students. He does lecture very well, and breaks down the material to a very easy to understand level. He also keeps the workload very manageable, which was awesome. His tests are a bit detailed and tedious, but very doable. Just make flash cards from his ppts and memorize facts. The only thing I disliked about the course, was that his lab did not sync up with the lectures. We were doing labs on paperboard, plastics, and glass, before we learned about it in class. His lab instructor (Sarah Baker?) is also a bit of an unfairly harsh grader. She does not make her expectations for the lab reports very clear, and took a while to hand them back, so by the time we realized we had done something incorrectly on the first lab, we had handed in three other lab reports with the same mistake.

Although Jay is extremely smart and helpful, his tests are near impossible to ace due to the fact that he asks extremely detailed questions about items that are not important. Good class but the tests could be better suited towards relevant class material

Although Jay\'s tests are fairly difficult, he is an excellent teacher. He knows everything about the subject, presents the material in a way relating to real world applications, and is very helpful if you talk to him during office hours. Jay is a great teacher overall.

Dr. Singh is a great packaging professor that really knows what he is talking about. He requires no textbooks for his classes and his midterms are all from his powerpoint slides. This class was a little tough since it did require memorizing formulas but as long as you know them and know how to use them you should be fine. He\'s very helpful so if you have any questions make sure to ask him! Class consists of 2 midterms, a final, and a final project. Do your work and you should be fine.

Jay is the bomb. Best teacher I've ever had at Poly and his class alone has gotten me a job. Nobody in the collegiate education system could teach packaging courses better than this man. Take his class and learn a ton.

Jay is an incredible professor. He challenges his students to make sure they put out an effort to learn and understand, but is still fair with his grading process. He writes difficult tests, but also fully covers everything in class so while the tests are hard, they are fair. He is a brilliant man, obviously an expert in his field, and the way he lectures communicates that very well. You know he knows exactly what he is talking about through his real world examples, guest speakers he brings into class, and opportunities he provides students in the packaging department.

you can tell that he knows a lot about this topic, but thats where it stops. youre able to tell he knows alot because of how he presents his material but he doesnt teach his material - especially whats actually going to be on the test. he focuses all of lecture on facts, barely goes over (runs over) the math/problem solving, and this is whats going to be on the test. he goes over the equations once and that it, that too really fast. hes just a nice guy to hang out with, thats why his ratings are good but, as a teacher, he doesnt convey the material well

Man, Jay really let me know this quarter. His final was very notrocious, class is very different from IT 330 very math and physics based.
