Don't take Patton for Therm I if you have to take Thermo II. You'll have an okay quarter with Patton, but you won't be able to keep up in Thermo II. Patton covers like half the material the other profs cover, and the material that he does cover is not covered well.

He is not that bad, but he is not the best either. He at least is really fair and his tests are not hard.

Patton clearly knows fluids. His method of presenting fluids did not fit with my learning style however. Patton focused a lot on theoretical stuff. A lot of the time there would just be integrals on the board that nobody understood because relating it to the physical world was difficult and also his handwriting is terrible. He is a strange dude. I like him, but he is very weird. I hated when he would tell everyone his sob stories about health problems or financial problems because it was awkward. If I didn't need fluids 2, I would take him.A

His instructing wasn't horrible, but he is much more concerned with whether you laugh at his stupid jokes than understand what to do for the lab. I would avoid his classes in the future.

Patton is amazing. He tells you exactly what you need to know. You may not get as in depth as another professor, but you will learn the basics and come out with a baseline understanding of the material. He is a very friendly guy and makes class very entertaining. Fun environment to be in and not as stressful as other ME upper division classes. Knows your name and will address you as so throughout the quarter. As Patton says, "The Life of R...."

What the guy/gal below said. Amen. I too took this class and have long since graduated from Poly, but I was cruising Poly Ratings for a kick and thought that I should pipe in and let you know how much of a joke this prof is.
