Wow what a professor!!! He really cares about his students he goes all out and does what ever it takes for you to understand the material. He puts all his lecture notes into a note book so you can just fill in as he goes along making learning the material very easy. He gives several tests during the quarter with the option to drop one. And the final is just another test so you can not take the final if you choose that one to drop. Definitley take him if you can for any class he teaches.

Jeff is a really nice guy. His tests are hard because they come straight out of the book. A good thing is that he has all of his homework solutions on his website. He also has a lecture book for his class that has all the homework problems and examples that we go over in class.

Jeff is the best teacher I've ever had at Poly. I was so scared about taking statics because I've always heard horror stories about the class. Jeff presented the material in a way EVERYONE can understand. He also has all his lecture notes in this book that you buy from El Corral so it's really easy to follow him during the lecture. I will try to take Jeff for as many classes as I can!!!

I really liked his teaching style. He uses his laptop and Adobe Illustrator to write on the projector, it saves time setting up the problem and is a lot easier to follow and see. Also he offers lecture notes you can buy which help a lot. Tests were not bad, I expected to do better, but common final didnt turn out how I thought, not sure how though. My roommate and I had almost the exact same answers and methods at getting them and he got an A and I got a C. Jones is a good teacher.

My advice for you if you take Jeff: DO THE HW YOURSELF... THEN, and only then, look at the solutions for help. It's the only way to go because... in a test situation you'll be screwed. The math involved in statics is so easy, but it's all about setting up the forces and different little tricks (especially moments, which he loves). If you just practiced setting up FBD's on the hw's, and then just copying the math solutions, you'd be very well off. There's only 2 midterms, so dont scwew up on the first one (which now that I look back was ridiculously easy) like I did (since I copied all the hw in the first half and didn't study). Get a GOOD foundation in the first half's material, and the rest is easy. Oh ya, go to all the classes because he's a jerk and give's random pop quizzes (even though the first 1 or 2 he actually TOLD us when they were). The final was easy. Don't bother reading, unless you miss a class (which then you could look at his online lectures), or if you want to be solid do it anyways. HW is due all the time. And.. that's about it.
