Ansgar is one of the best teacher's I've had at Cal Poly. He grades fair, he's helpful and explains the information quite clearly. His class has two schemes for figuring out your final grade. It's either your quizzes and midterms are worth 35% and the final is worth 55% or vise versa, it's which ever gives you the better outcome. The homework

Ansgar is one of the smartest teachers I've had at Poly, hands down. However, his ability to convey this information is poor at best. When utilizing his office hours, his most popular response was, "What don't you get, its so simple?" Well, its not so simple because I don't understand the questions. I do not recommend Ansgar unless you can teach yourself materials well on your own.

I think Ansgar is a great teacher, he knows structures really well and is helpful with students questions. The only thing i didnt like about this class was that he required us to buy his work book instead of the regular text (which id already had from a previous CE cource). But other than that he is a great teacher.

great professor, explains material clearly; makes it easy to remember. gives enough homework to be able to practice and understand the material. always willing to clarify questions and more than available to help outside of class if needed. i highly recommend taking him, whether arce is your major or not.

So aside from clogs, yes clogs(the shoes), some sweatervests that chandler would wear on friends and the interesting polish accent, Ansgar is a great teacher. Although his class is tough and I got a C in the course, Ansgar did take the time to help me through the class, because i wasn't really getting the subject matter. And an 85 % is an A for his class, so that's always a bonus right?

Ansgar is an excellent structures teacher. He is very understanding of student difficulties and weighs grades in your favor. The way he explains concepts is extremely thorough, and he is truly interested in making the topics understandable and clear to students. His tests are challenging but fair because he does a good job of preparing students to succeed.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. BETWEEN HIS TWO SECTIONS FOR MY QUARTER 46/58 OF HIS STUDENTS HAVE A D OR LOWER. I KID YOU NOT. I'll start off the review with saying that Ansgar is a nice man, but a shit teacher. During lecture he will spend the whole time on one concept, focusing most of his time on the simple aspects and no time on the hard parts. You will come out of lecture thinking you know how to do the homework he assigns, but boy oh boy you will be sadly mistaken. Don't even try to start the homework until the day before its due because he won't teach you what you need to know for it until the last lecture before it is due and you will find yourself frustrated. You may be able to skate by on homework, but where he really fucks you over on are the midterms. The problems from the homework are simple and straightforward, most of them coming from the book and maybe one that he will write. You will most likely struggle on his problems, which is what the tests are made of, so good fucking luck. He will give you way too many problems for the amount of time you have for the midterms and will make them 100000000000000x harder than any homework problem. I hope for all of your sake that there are other teachers to take this course with because my quarter got fucked with Ansgar being the only teacher for ARCE 212.

Ansgar is a great teacher. He is very accessible in office hours and goes above and beyond to drive home the concepts of the course (in this case mechanics). He is also a very fair grader, his tests are difficult but pretty straight forward, and he curved the overall grades at the end of the quarter. Take him if you have the chance, you won't regret it.

Ansgar is an awesome professor given that fact that 302 is one of the hardest conceptual ARCE courses. There is a lot of material to cover and a lot of mistakes to be made. Again, this course in general is a difficult course!!! I failed the first time, but worked my ass of and got a B, also given the fact that I had the lowest score on the Midterm in the class. He is good in class but there is a lot to cover and it will most likely be the first time seeing the material, so it will be confusing. Ansgar is much better in his office; so just try the concept and then go see him. He grades fairly and emphasizes the basics: KNOW YOUR STATICS!!!! If you don't, you will suffer indefinitely. Do the homework, it will definitely help on the quizes. Do well on the Midterm so you don't have to make up for a lot on the final. He will figure out the best scheme for you to evaluate your grade-there are four grading schemes. Also if you take this class with ARCE 371, you are in for a lot of work...so good luck if you are. IF YOU PUT YOUR FULL EFFORT INTO THIS CLASS, YOU WILL SUCCEED. I recommend Ansgar to anyone; take him if you have a chance.

Ansgar is probably one of the finest professors the ARCE department has on staff. Objective and fair, he presents the material in a manner that the students can grasp, which in the case of 302 is quite a feat. Even though I thought Ansgar presented great lectures, making use of his flexible office hours for a little clarification was definitely needed for my success. He penned his own textbook, which follows the lectures precisely, but I found some sections to not be straightforward. These were quickly cleared with a little extra explanation in his office. He seems to sincerely care about the success of his students. Three steps to passing Ansgar's ARCE 302 class: 1. do the homework, it really does prepare you for the exams, 2. study the few problems in the textbook that he doesn't assign - they may look familiar on the exams! and 3. make SURE you have mastered Statics prior to taking the class... he is annoyed by those who have not retained these foundational concepts.

Ansgar was the man! I understood everything clearly in his ARCE 302 Class! There was a bit of work though, but it all paid off.

I have nothing to say about Ansgar but I love this man. He is so absolutely amazing. If you go to office hours, it will pay off. If you ask a question, it will pay off. He might seem like he's getting frustrated with you, but he LOVES enthusiasm in trying to comprehend. Besides, he's a MATLAB GENIUS!!! Take advantage of his intelligence, people. He's amazing.

Ansgar is so well versed in MATLAB its crazy. Sometimes it seems like he may have even invented the thing. Because of his extensive knowledge of the program, he is more than able to teach this matrix analysis class using MATLAB clearly. Watch out though, he does tend to go a little fast in the lab (353), but he will immediately slow his pace if you ask. His problems are straightforward and his program assignments, although challenging, are relevant. Grading was concentrated mostly on the multiple take-home projects during the quarter (no midterm, no final) and the in-class quizzes (open note). Be prepared for PLENTY of quizzes - they were given usually twice a week! No required textbook, but Ansgar's handouts are easily sufficient. A student's success in this course really does depend on his programming competency, you may want to brush up on your CSC 234, it will help you understand MATLAB logic. Bottom line - a fairly difficult class taught by a very knowledgeable, excellent professor.

I learned that if I were to take up hunting, I should shoot deer, not bears, because a bear will hunt me back if I successfully wound it. Fascinating! I didnt know that the key to production and operations management was so brutally simple!

Ansgar is perfect for this course: it is very analytical and mathematical -- just like he. Ansgar is always so helpful, and pretty much straight-forward throughout the quarter. A combo final / take-home final made it nice, too. If you actually do the matlab programs (not copy) you will learn enough to do very well in here. Probably my favorite ARCE teacher.
