Not a difficult class- very straightforward and easy to follow. First lectures are the most interesting- becomes more boring as the quarter goes on but it's never deadly. If you go to class and pay attention, it should be an easy A.

Dr. Kadin is a wonderful teacher. The class is really helpful with basically all aspects of life. This class will help you in the future with your family, marriage, and kids. The lectures were very interesting to me, but I guess some others thought it was a little boring. I always enjoyed going to class because there was always something interesting to learn. Dr. Kadin shows a lot of movies and video clips to try and give us examples of what he is talking about. He likes to choose volunteers to help him with examples and real life family issues. The midterms are pretty straightforward(no tricky questions) and he had us do four response papers which were one page, double-spaced on what we have learned and enjoyed in the class. To me the class was fun and easy, but you do need to do the reading and go to class for his lectures. He tests a lot on what he says in class. Dr. Kadin is a very understanding teacher and will try and help you in any way he can. He also has a great sense of humor. You won't regret it if you take Dr. Kadin for Family Psychology.

Dr. Kadin is an awesome teacher. Definitely one of my favorite teachers at Poly. He's totally nice, very smart and knowledgable about family psychology, and he has a great sense of humor, which makes his lectures enjoyable. I always looked forward to his class. He broke up the lectures with videos of therapy sessions and movies that went along with a particular section of the class material. His tests are pretty easy and he grades fairly. We had to do a pretty involved project, but it was really just a lot of writing--nothing difficult. We also had to write a few one-page papers which were basically just feedback--what we liked about the class, what we found interesting, thoughts and personal experiences. It was a simple and actually pretty cool assignment. You should definitely take Dr. Kadin's class if you have the chance. He is awesome and I can't imagine anyone not enjoying his class. A+ for sure.

How do you know Dr. Kadin is great? Look at the last kid--he got an F and Kadin still has a 4.0 rating so the kid who failed must have given him all A's. This teacher really is awesome. He's super nice, enthusiastic, and knows his shit. He's fun to listen to in lecture so I never got bored in his class and always looked forward to it (which is not to say I always went, but I was sorry when I ditched class. Really!)You should totally take this guy if you can. He's great. And the class isn't too hard. Not super easy but basically if you pay attention and try to get a good grade, you will.

i took this class for a minor in psy and first off i recommend that anyone (even those not psy major or minor) should take this class. as for profesor kadin, he's pretty good. his sense of humor is a little different and he talks slow in class, but he makes the class easy. he gives study guides before every test which help so much. he doesn't do a whole lot of lecturing, but when he does he incorporates examples, and class comments to everything. you have A LOT of class discussion in this class which takes a little while to get used to but i learned so much from the examples that people gave and different stories from my classmates that helped me remember the material better. that was probably my favorite part of the class. he gives examples from his experiences in the field which are interesting and help alot too. if you take it with him it's not hard at all. he's not the best teacher i've had at cal poly, but he's a pretty good one.

It doesn't get any better than this!! I hate attending class but with Kadin I hated missing class. This guy is awesome and he definitely keeps you interested. There are 2 midterms ana a final, all multiple choice with a few short answer questions on the final. There is a really easy 4 page paper that is based on a questionnaire you fill out with your family. And 3 one-page "reaction" papers where you just wirte anything you want. I learned more form this guy than any other teacher. There is a lot of in class discussion, not just lecturing and he will clarify anything you ask him to. Keep up on the reading (there isn't that much). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

He is great. He is really interested in the topic. He has a lot of class participation. He always answers questions and is really clear when he is talking. His tests are pretty straight forward. You have to write three two page papers and one five page paper. He is a fair grader. Definately take him because he is interesting so it makes the class easy.

You'll learn alot about yourself, your family, and family psychology if you take psy 254 with Professor Kadin. The few papers he assigns are pretty easy to write (they're about you and your family) and he grades them fairly. He has a few cool demonstartions during the quarter and always asks at the begining of class if anyone has any questions. The class atmosphere is relaxed but still focused on the subject at hand. You watch clips from movies fairly frequently. Take Prof. Kadin he's a great guy and a great instructor.

Kadin was an awesome teacher! I learned so much and highly recommend this class for anyone of any major since all of us come from families and most of us will eventually have families of our own. Everything you learn is relevant to everyday life and interactions with some of the most important people in your life. It helps you get to know your family as well as yourself better than you ever thought possible. As for the tests just make sure you take good notes and study them.

Kadin is an awesome instructor. The material presented in this class is relevant and applicable to almost everyone's lives. You have 2 midterms and a final, which is cummulative. There are 3 reaction papers. These are "I" statement papers. You discuss in them how you've been affected by the material or what you thought about it. They are easy and are graded with checks. The highest score is a check ++. At the end these 3 papers are converted to 50 pts of your grade. You also have a 5 page paper to write regarding you family and are given evaluation material to do this. The tests are all multiple choice, except the final which has a writing component. I highly recomend this instructor and course.

Kadin is an awesome professor. He is really passionate about what he teaches and cares a lot about his students. He tries to involve a lot of discussion which is really interesting. 3 exams, 4 short papers and a final paper. His exams are mostly from his notes, so if you pay attention in class, you'll do fine.

If you want to learn new information I wouldn't recommend this class. Kadin is a great guy and incredibly nice, but he spends so much time making sure everyone knows what he's talking about that the lectures take too long. I found myself wishing for more detailed information rather than examples of general concepts.

Not the most enjoyable class but it was non-stressful. I would reccomend him for that reason. He gets kind of side tracked when people ask too many questions but he's just trying to be nice. A couple of papers but they are based on you so its easy to write and he grades very fairly.

Kadin is awesome. Very intertaining class... You learn a ton about how families operate and actually look forward to going to class. A few small papers to do, 3 mids and a final, which are fairly straight forward. I'd definately take this class again.

Professor Kadin was a wonderful teacher and I am so glad that I took him. I would definetly tell anyone to hold out for him, since he only teaches one quarter per year. He gives two midterms worth 100 points each which are straight out of the test and lectures, and the harder you study the better you do. The final is a written essay in which you have to thoroughly explain 8 concepts from the class. If you know your shit it's easy to get the full 100 points. His classes were always interesting and engaging, and he brought in guest lecturers and movies to make it interesting. I found myself actually looking forward to the class, as weird as that sounds. It was an awesome class and he was a great teacher. Take Kadin if you can!

Kadin is a shrink, that is obviously what he is most concerned with being, and what he is best at. I cant speak for how much he may know about any other topics, but he really doesnt know much at all about developmental psychology. The class was an easy A. We wrote 4 papers but they were all easy to bullshit, and the multiple choice tests were a little difficult, but if you do the reading you will be fine. I learned a lot about therapy, and all of Kadins favorite books on family therapy, but what I learned about the topic of developmental psych I learned from the textbook. I would wait it out for a better prof if I had to do it over again.

PSY 256 was definitely an easy A but I learned absolutely NOTHING (although at the end of course completion, I probably still know more about developmental psych than Kadin ever will). I cannot believe they are actually letting him have his own class. He tries to sound really smart about all the elements of developmental psych but you can totally tell he is bull shitting the whole time. Weekly, while dictating notes, he would give us incorrect information and someone in the class would have to correct him. (Like, one time he said that it's important to know the difference between the independent and dependent variables in a psychological study and then gave the definitions for the opposite ones.) He just basically has know idea how to teach. Half way through our quarter he randomly decided that he would let us turn in one page papers about anything related to the course material for five points. We could turn an unlimited amount which I think is how I got an A. His tests are total bullshit and I am willing to bet money that if he tried to take one he would fail it. The only way to do well on the test is to try and follow his half assed (and irrelevant) lectures and then teach yourself from the uberboring book. If you want to understand anything about this subject I would go to great lengths to take another prof.

He was a good prof. The class was easy. You get to watch a video where a kid beats up some other kid. What more could you ask for? Easy essays? Yeah sure, those are there, too. The man is obviously a shrink and not a professor. I've never been to a shrink, but he has the classic shrink-voice from all the movies. Very soothing

I learned that if I were to take up hunting, I should shoot deer, not bears, because a bear will hunt me back if I successfully wound it. Fascinating! I didnt know that the key to production and operations management was so brutally simple!
