When I took this class in high school I struggled to get a B-, but Laurene went through everything step by step that it is so hard to get confused in her class. If only she was teaching Math 117 this quarter, I would get her again, no matter how early or how late. She doesn't make you memorize all the theorems and formulas either. It is always great to hear her say "Look guys, this is why you came to class today!" and shows you a remarkable math phenomenon. Though she gives a lot of homework, she makes her quizzes and tests straight out of it. I definitely recommend anyone (especially those who have a hard time with math) to get her.

Laurene Lee was great! I learned a lot from both her 116 & 117 classes. Always there to help the students. Homework load was just the right amount, and it help tremediously when it came to the midterms and final.

She is a nice person, but should not be teaching. She gives way too much homework. She gives so much that one doesn't know what is important and what is not. She shows you the easiest problems on the board and leaves the hard ones for you on your homework. Take her if you want to do 5 hour assigments and not learn anything. The other people are just her cronies and kissasses.

this teacher shouldnt teach math at CAL Poly or in California for that matter. i thought i was goin to attend a smart chineese lady because her last name was Lee. what i got was a hitler that assigned about 6 hours of homework. her tests were all the even problems on ur homework so there is no sense in doing the odds. also u must go in to her office hours which she is rarely there to get the even answers. sure she will go over the easy example questions but when u start doin ur homework there are questions that even math maticians cant get right! dont take loreta lee!!!

The class has a lot of homework but if you have difficulties understanding math this helps you practice and overall better understand for the exams. She is very willing to help and will always accomodate to your misunderstandings. It is a difficult course but if you do take it there is always help at your disposal.

She is great! I hate math and have never got an A in my life until this course. She is excellent at helping students. All the test problems are from the homework, so if you do it you are good to go. I loved her so much i am taking her again for 117. gG into her office hours too, she really likes to know that she is helping you, and she will also help you at the end of the quarter with your grade if you go in. She loves to talk about her son, too.

Laurene is the best math teacher that I have ever had. I took this same math class in high school and I barely got a B in it. In Laurene's class, I got an A due to the fact that I paid attention and attended every day. Laurene is very helpfull and will always make time during her office hours to go over tests or homework with you. Her tests are exactly and I mean exactly like the homework with only a few numbers changed. I would reccomend her to anyone and they will not regret it. Do the homework and do extra problems in the book and you will most definitely get an A in the class. Laurene also likes to go off about random things in life like her son,and it makes the class more interesting. She will even arrange outside of the class study sessions for tests to guarentee a better grade.

Laurene is a grad student that teaches Math under the Staff headings, so this evaluation might not even get up on Polyratings. Hopefully she will because Laurene is AMAZING at teaching math! First of all, she absolutely LOVES math and it is quite amusing to hear her say things like "ok guys you are going to think this is SOO cool!" at 7am three days a week. She made going to such an early morning class, let alone math class, enjoyable! PLUS she is brillant and knows math inside and out. Try to get Laurene!! She is under the staff heading, but works with you to make sure you understand the material! Two midterms, 4 quizzes, good class!!

Math is not my subject... I'm totally petrified by it. Professor Lee made the coursework clear and manageable. She was hands down the best math instructor I've ever had. Her energy and enthusiasm kept me alert at 7am (when even coffee doesn't help). Tests and quizzes come straight from home work problems and Prf. Lee is willing to go over the homework and the concepts until you understand. She wants you to succeed, and if you show up and do the homework you will. I never even had to go to her office hours because she was so effective in class (though she was very flexible and open about outside class help). If I had taken the class for a grade I would have had at least a B. Take her if possible!

I LOVE LAURENE!!!! She is an amazing teacher! Probably the best I have ever had. She doesnt just assume that you know the material, and goes over everything soooo well! She is full of energy and enthusiasm, and for a 7:30 class she was great! If your smart you will take her, she works so well with you if you need anything!

Laurene is amazing. Like most of these comments say, it isn't a lot of work at all. Yes she gives homework and collects it, but its not hard to do. The tests are simple if you study a little. Go in early before the test and she will answer any last minute questions you have. She is the sweetest lady, I would deffinatly take her, you wont regret it!

She is a great teacher, but gives a lot of homework. If you dont do the hw you will not do well. IT IS A TON OF WORK. but worth it. you learn a lot in the class and she is really available for help. She wants you to do well, but you will only do well if you care about the class. Tests and quizzes are hw problems so do the homework and you will do well, that is all that it comes down to. But she is a good teacher, and will do a slight curve. take her if you are willing to work hard, it will pay off in the long run

Laurene was actually a very nice teacher and her class was not too bad. However, I would not recommend taking this class if math just isn't your thing. She gives a lot of homework which she always collects and her tests are pretty tough. She does not allow use of calculators or notes on the tests. I did all the homework and bareley got a C- in the class. Also her examples in class are always pretty easy but the homework and tests contain much harder problems. If you do take her class, use her office hour because she is happy to work problems with you, she even gave us her home phone number in case we had any questions. Basically, she's a pretty good teacher, but I've heard that there are much easier ones in the department.
