Professor Steiner is one of the best English teachers I've ever had. I loved going to her class. Her class always made me feel like I was in my pajamas drinking hot cocoa in front of a warm fire, while doing nothing other than reading a nice enjoyable book. I really felt that my writing improved as a result of her patience and kind direction. She was very fair and there were never any surprises. Grammar is not a huge part of the class...it's mostly reading short stories and essays and talking about them as a class. The only homework assigned is reading and working on the three out of class essays required. There are also three in class essays...But don't get scared, she grades a little easier on these. Another great part about the class is that there's NO FINAL!!! But you are required to submit your best in-class and best out-of-class essay to be graded by the department. So, if you have professor Stiener, sit back, relax, and really enjoy this professor and your class!!! (I liked it so much, I'm taking her again for English 145!)

Steiner was AWESOME!!! I highly recommend her. I have always hated english, but I actually really enjoyed this class. She was extremely nice a relatively easy grader. Sign up for any class if Steiner is teaching it.

Being that this was Prof Steiner's second year, she did quite well. This class is a very simple and organized english class that is very similar to one taken in high school. She provides the information we need to complete assignments and quizes us on the material assigned. The six essays are quite simple and she grades knowing each of us are different writers. I would recommend Steiner for an unstressful and organized English class.

What else can I say? This teacher rules. Workload is very reasonable. There are 3 inclass and 3 out of class essays and she grades them quite reasonably. (Considering I'm not a very good writer). Her class was very fun and interesting. Your writing skills will vastly improve after taking her class. Don't hesitate, take her class now!

Stiner was one of the nicest teachers I've had in my entire life. She was understanding of students and graded very fairly. She made a subject I have never liked very enjoyable and I looked forward to her class everyday. On top of all this, she kept an interesting class and we all were able to learn from her. It's a fairly easy class with only 6 essays (3 in and 3 out of class) and she wasn't a hard grader. She was willing to help you with your essays if you goto her office hours and was very positive with all of her comments. I would definately take a class from her again and if you can get her as a teacher take the class.

Lynn Stiener is a great teacher. she is very relaxed, calm and extremely fair. she gives a fair workload. she grades thouroughly, and she focuses a lot on correct grammar. if you go into her office hours and have her read through your essays, she'll point out everything she'd like you to work on and upon revision you'll have a much better chance of recieving a good score. she is probably the sweetest lady out there. she will listen, be patient, and really put in effort to help you learn and become a better writer. though she grades toughly, you always can get feedback from her before the final draft is due. workload is extremely reasonable and she is just a kind, easy to understand, compassionate woman. i urge anyone to take her class.

Professor Steiner is one of the nicest teachers I've ever had. Her grading system is simple. If you do what you are told and write essays according to the way she wants them done you will do just fine. She is completely open to talking after class and during office hours for any extra explaining. I highly recomment her, she is great.

EXCELLENT TEACHER. I'm an engineer and I just love how she "took her time" with all of us students. Although I have the most difficult time getting an A in her class, I know that she graded fairly and did her best. There were only 3 out-of-class and 3 in-class essays. If you're a SUPERB writer, this is an easy A. If English isn't your favorite but you need someone who can "help" you, she's definitely it! Steiner has a good heart, and teaches things step-by-step. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for ENGL 134.

Take this professor! She is the absoulte best and easiest teacher for english. I liked her so much i took her for both Eng 102 and Eng 134. She is easy but you learn a lot too. Plus, i had her class on Fridays from 4-5 and she said how aweful of a time that was so we only had to go one friday each month and we got to pick which friday we wanted. Take her for sure! Oh ya, and if you want a better grade on your essays go to her office hours and ask her to look over and correct your paper.

Well, the class is boring no matter what. It often reminded me of 6th grade english, learning about nouns and verbs. It is really easy though, so easy I wasn't motivated to try to get an A. She takes roll and deducts points for absences which is not cool. Also, she is a pretty hard grader. No matter how good your first paper is, she will grade it lower, then your next will get higher, then higher, etc. This is not good because she just does it to make it look like she is teaching you to become better, when in reality its just like elementary school english. 3 take home essays, 3 in class essays, pop quizzes (easy if you do the short readings) and a couple little assignments in between.

This teacher is very over-rated! I was stoked to take her class b/c of polyratings and i hated it! Class is so boring and pointless and her grading is so confusing and random. Don't listen to polyratings, you can for sure do better. DONT TAKE!

Professor Steiner is a relatively easy teacher. She taught the class different this quarter. She eliminated an extra paper, in class essays, and a final. She assigned reading almost everyday, but it was really easy, never too much, and she goes over it the next class. She assigns three papers over the course of the quarter that aren't too bad. The first paper she lets you revise as many times as you want and the last two you can revise once. She also gives a couple pop quizzes, but if you read they are really easy. Make sure you pay attention in class and go to her office hours if you need extra help on your papers and it'll be easy to pull off a good grade in the class. She also takes role during random classes and I think she marks off participation points if you aren't there.

Take her! She's one of the best English teachers I've ever had. I actually kind of like writing essays because of her. Class is fairly easy, but hard enough to keep you going to class. Only 4 papers. Uhh she's really nice...anyways, take her, at least for 134, it was a good class.

This wasn't a bad class at all, and coming from someone who generally hates taking english classes that means something. She made the class enjoyable. There are four essays,a few homework assingnments, and some nightly reading, and sometimes not oven that. This class was in no way ovrkill and I would recommend her to anyone.

She is an alright professor. I did not enjoy the class that much. She has pop quizzes at random times so be prepared. She made you do some ridiculous things but it wasn't that bad. One time I forgot to bring in some homework and she said she couldn't except it so bring your stuff to class. The class only has 4 essays and no final. Overall she is an average teacher.

Professor Steiner is an ok teacher. Her class is really boring and every day I felt like it was pointless to go to class. However, she does take attendance and will drop your grade if you miss more than three classes. She gives 4 essays over the quarter, as well as pop quizzes when you least expect them. I found that it was very helpful to go see her a day or two before an essay was due and have her look over my essay. This was I could see what she thought of the essay before I turned it. In all, she's an average teacher and nothing special about her.

she is a very nice woman, but she is very very boring. When discussing an essay or something she will try and squeeze every ounce of information out. It gets annoying after a while. Sometimes it felt like there was no reason to go to class, it felt pointless. She is a typical english teacher grader, but if you go to the writing lab you will get a better grade. Overall, she is one of the better english teachers (its slim pickings) here at CP, so count your blessings that you got her.

Miss Steiner has been my favorite teacher at Poly so far! She is such a nice lady and she truly does want to help you succeed as a writer!! She rarely gives A's on papers, but she will help you if you need help! She does give pop quizzes, so be prepared! I really enjoyed this class!!! TAKE HER!

I decided I wanted to take Lynn's class after reading some pretty good polyratings recommending her. It turned out to be a bad idea. The workload was pretty much what I had expected, but she wasn't clear at all in terms of telling us what she wanted on our essays... which were the vast majority of our grades. I wouldn't say she's a harsh grader; she just doesn't seem to know what she's doing. We spent a few weeks writing our profile essays, and when she handed mine back she told me that she wanted me to turn in for the 09 fresh voices handbook (she told me it was "nearly perfect"). And she gave me an 83 out of 100. When I called her out on it, asking her why I didn't deserve an A-, at least, she couldn't give me a straight answer. She flipped through it and said "Well, there were a few errors here and there". Then, on our next essay, I didn't spend nearly as much time brainstorming or revising... and I basically just bullshitted my entire argument... and she gave me a 92. And while I probably shouldn't be complaining about getting a good score on a bad paper, I hated the fact that my grade was entirely subjected to some lousy english teacher who clearly didn't put time or effort into evaluating her students' work.

She is really, just a bad teacher. I know a lot of people on Polyratings like her because she's "nice", which I can't argue with. But god she's bad. Didn't help me at all when I went to her office hours. Gave me average grades on good papers. And didn't really seem to know much at all about our course.

Prof. Lynn was a very nice person, but just your average teacher. She takes attendance for her class, and if you don\'t go your grade drops. She occasionally gives pop quizzes over, what I thought was pointless material covered in Curious Writing. There was always a writing assignment to worry about, and if you aren\'t a good writer, you\'ll most likely get average grades on your sequences even with the help of resources like the Writing Lab and peer review days.

The class is generally boring. It took me a long time to rewrite essays over and over, and even though by the end I was ending up with As on essays I got a B in the class. Her grading was really subjective. If you end up in this class and want a good grade, my suggestion is to be really original with your ideas. Basically copy what she brings up in class by using those ideas in your own way

Mrs. Steiner is an awesome teacher and great person. She offers tons of help to anyone who wants it. She did a great job building the material up and teaching us the research process. I would recomend her to anyone who wants to learn how to write effectively. Classes weren't to difficult, mostly group work with a lot of free in class work. She does grade hard on essays, but you can do re-writes and inclass points make up for it. I had a great time in this class. J. F. was real funny

Professor Steiner made English a lot of fun for me and I don't like English. This is a writing course so there were 5 essays. She grades tough but very fair, the key is to go to her office and make sure you know exactly what is to be on the essays. I suggest her class to everyone.

I would take this teacher if I were you! I had her from 6-8pm, but we always got out at least 40 minutes early every time. We had three essays and one research paper(which was our final). She was very helpful during office hours. She is very soft spoken and makes everyone feel comfortable. Take her...it is worth your time.

Professor Steiner was great. I am an alright writer, and found it to be somewhat of an easy class. There are no in-class essays, just several small ones and the final research paper which is about 8-10 pages long. She gives you a little bit of flexibility with the topic (you get to pick one of several options). She's VERY helpful during office hours, and will go over your paper with you and tell you exactly what to fix. I would definitely recommend taking her!

She\'s really like the nicest lady you\'ll meet. The class is kind of pointless, but its relatively easy to do well. Papers are small (1-4 pages) except for the research final, and she grades fairly. Sure its tedious, but I\'ve heard some horror stories of 145 teachers, and Steiner really cares about the students and won\'t take too much of your time up.
