I learned more about PHYS from Dr. Wilson in lab than I ever did from my lecture instructor. Get him to talk to you about how paying $60 for textbooks was SO expensive back in his day, he is a very interesting guy!

Well, to start with, Dr. Wilson is an excellent guy, and in every other respect aside from teaching I found him a pleasure to interact with. That said, I had trouble with this class. The way he lectures and explains material did not work for me. The derrivations of the formulas for the class were lost in world of partial derrivatives, with mathematical errors I was never able to sort out. Along with that it was too boring for me, and I would fall asleep. The solution I found was to buy another Physics book and learn from both of them, and then stop going to class. Aside from that he was very fair and consistant with grading, and an otherwise good professor. If you don't need to understand where things come from, you should be fine, if not, you can still pass the class. But if you get the chance, take Mullhall, he's worth waiting a quarter or two.

It's not a difficult class, but Prof Wilson's lectures are boring. Quizes are easy and midterms are fair. Final was tough. Wilson is OK for this class. Great guy - very approachable. Not hard to get an 'A' or 'B' if you put in a reasonable effort.

Professor Wilson is awesome for lab. He spends about 40 minutes going over lecture material before you start the lab, but he is EXTREMELY helpful during lab. I recommend Wilson to everybody. He loves teaching and is very helpful in lab.

Dr. Wilson did an excellent job in portraying the concepts of PHYS 132 in a different manner than that which we learned in lecture. His interesting way of looking at things helped some people to further their understanding in Physics. For the most part, I already understood the concepts and regarded the first hour of class relatively useless, but there's no denying it helped some. As for lab, Dr. Wilson did a good job walking you through the lab, but if you ask him a question, he'll answer it in the most cryptic way possible. Definitely a nice guy, and he teaches in an interesting way. I would probably recommend him to my peers if they asked.

This guy is a really good teacher and know his stuff. He is always smiling when you walk in and his demonstrations are very helpful. His tests are not that hard, very manageable. There's homework once a week and he does not give the answers until it is collected. I enjoyed having him this quarter.

Very enthusiastic about teaching and wants all the students to completely understand the harder material before moving on. Sometimes the stuff can get really confusing, but he'll gladly go over points with you right after class if you've still got questions.

Wilson would normally teach for an hour before we started the lab each week. He explained things better than most of the professors and went at a pace you could follow. You should only take him if you wan't to learn the material and not if you just want to pass the class. He was always in a good mood too.

Wilson is a lot better than i thought going into the class. i had my doubts b/c i've had part-time retired professors before and they didn't care about the class or the students. he really wanted the class to understand, tests were 4 problems worth 10 pts each and so if you screwed up on one... i'm sure you get the picture. keep up w/ the homework and you'll do fine. and don't expect him to be available more than once a week for office hours

okay to start off i'm usually a B average student, ~and this is my first D ever in my life... but i have to say that wilson is not a bad teacher.. he really tries to help the students.. i probably got a bad grade b/c of my work load during that quarter... i would say.. if you want someone easy don't take this guy.. but if you want to learn and put some effort into it with someone that is really happy to help you.. then take this guy... he is really nice.. and i really think he tries his best to make the students understand him.. and this class isn't easy. he lets you use a cal on test but no cheat sheet.. well he gives you an equations sheet.. but that doesn't really help. my best advise.. DO THE HOMEWORK and understand it b/c he always puts at least one hw-like problem on his test.. and it's usually a hard one.. but if you understood in hw you whould breeze thur that question.. oh yeah he usually has 4 questions on test... two relatively easy ones, one really hard one, and one hw-like *hard* problem.

I had Dr. Wilson for lab, and he did all right. The only problem I had with him is that he would talk and talk for an hour or more before letting us do the lab. Also, he asks for a completed lab report by the time you leave, so you have to take down your measurements neatly the first time, while writing a conclusion and stuff. This is kinda bad, because we usually found ourselves with one partner writing while the other sat around.

I only had Wilson for lab, so he might be a great lecturer, but for lab he is not that great. He talks and blabs on forever before you begin the experiment and the class take's at least 2 hrs, when it could easily be over with in 30 mins. He was a nice guy, but I just couldn't stand how he took absolutly forever to explain the labs.

I had Professor Wilson for lab, and like everyone else who rated this guy, the bottom line is that he LECTURES FOREVER in lab. Yes the labs are meant to last 3 hours and you sometimes get out early, but I quote Wilson to say on the first day "These labs are scheduled for 3 hours but sometimes don't take that long, but don't worry, I'll keep you here the ENTIRE 3 hours." True to his word, the earliest I think we got out was 1/2 an hour, with the other labs lasting 3 hours or more. However Wilson helps you out a lot on the labs and is very good at explaining stuff in a way you can understand, and a nice/friendly guy. I'd recommend taking Wilson, but prepare to stay for 3 hours in his labs.

This guy could help with homework problems and he walked through the lab and theory behind it beforehand. He's smart and seemed very experienced with the subjects we dealt with in the class. The labs were fun and straight forward and he outlined what he expected on the lab reports well. He assisted when necessary. He was always grinning and kind of reminded me of Mr. Rogers in how he looks, acts and talks. I think he genuinely likes to watch his students explore and fascinate over electricity. He didn't grade very lightly on the lab reports though if I remember right. Nothing you'd get an S- over, but you had to take the class seriously.

Dr. Wilson is a good teacher, but you still have to do the homework and really put effort into this class to pass. I struggled in this class because i didn't do any reading or homework until the weekend before finals. Dr. Wilson will really help you a lot if you keep up on the work and ask questions. Because he's retired he only teaches one lecture and lab a quarter and has only 2 office hours so you should take advantage of every moment he's on campus.

Wilson is a great lab teacher, always very helpful in lab, and really nice. He reminds me of my grandpa haha. There's not much to say about a lab teacher, but Wilson is good.
