I appreciated having IME 223 with Jill. It was very easy to understand her during lecture (and all the PowerPoints were on PolyLearn). It was definitely a rewarding class and I was able to learn a lot. I liked that she had a lot of experience in industry so she was able to share with us her experiences. Because she was such a new teacher, I think she had a hard time recognizing when we were having difficulties in lab (mostly the tutorials). If you get the opportunity, take her!

She's a great professor. Each week we have at least one homework that due in the following class. They're manageable. Her midterm and final are decent. The majority of class complained about the midterm because the problem was a bit vague to model. So she decided to let us take a make-up exam. I'm not sure what's the class is actually about and it's not 100% stochastic O.R. The class is a mixture of decision analysis, goal programming, inventory controls, and a bit of introductory of stochastic processes (w/o mathematics background). I'd recommend her.

She's okay. She makes her slides directly off the textbook, so the slides are formal definitions of all the statistic terminology. Then she does some examples in the class (this is probably where you'll learn the most so don't skip class!). You get a couple pop-quizzes. Midterms are usually problems from the book. She's pretty good at answering questions, so utilize those office hours. There is homework every weekend. She's made a couple mistakes: deleted all of our homework on accident (gave us all full credit) and quizzed us on something she hasn't taught yet (also gave full credit), so there might be times of panic. She's young, so she gets you. Compared to a lot of the IME professors that teach 300 level and below classes, she's better than they are.

Jill is a great person. However, as a professor, it is a different story. Her slides DO convey the material well and the project seems easy enough, but the problem that she has is that she takes points away for seemingly unknown reasons (and A LOT of points at that). Our project was very organized and satisfied every criteria that was described, however, she still decided to take points away because of little details that she is completely anal about. Very disappointed in her because I thought she was a good professor when I took her for Ergo Lab. Would not take her again.

Honestly one of the worst IME professors. She gave impossible lab material and a project in which expectations were rather unclear.

Not a great experience with IME 424 ( healthcare ) but she tried really hard and hopefully will improve the class in the future. But I am unimpressed with how she communicated the project to us and was super confused all quarter on what the project actually is.
