She is a super sweet person who actually cares about students. The labs are hard at first but don't worry they get easier! The tests are pretty easy and there is no homework. Just lecture and lab quizzes

Amazing professor, really sweet and cares about her students. Gives detailed lectures and lots of practice/review problems to make sure you truly understand the material. Is really nice and answers every question a student asks thoroughly. If you make sure to review to material every week you should be fine, her exams and quizzes are sometimes difficult but never unfairly so. Really recommend her to anyone who needs to take a statistics course! Didn't like the subject too much but really enjoyed her class.

probably your best bet! great with helping you, wants you to ask questions and gives you plenty and plenty of resources outside of the book to use! she really wants you to pass. (however she does use coding)

Pileggi is beyond frustrating to be in class with. If you have any questions she will answer you in a way that makes you feel like an idiot for asking. she also doesn't know the answers to a ton of seemingly common questions which is not helpful. she implements rules that make it feel like you're back in high school. I cannot stand being in this tyrannical class.

Professor Pileggi is very sweet and caring. She knows her stuff pretty well although she doesn't always know the answer (which I think isn't unreasonable) to everything. I'll be honest, this class is pretty straight forward and simple if you have any sort of coding background or at least pick up computer languages easily. However, if you do not have that sort of experience, I wouldn't be surprised if this class is a serious struggle. She paired people with and without experience together which wasnt always easy for either person. Also homework 2x a week, labs 2x a week, quizzes 2x a week. You will not finish this work in class so plan on some time in the library. That being said, I found the class very enjoyable and relatively easy.

Prof.Pileggi is the most condescending professor that I have met at Cal Poly. Although her lectures are very clear and precise, and she does have a lot of office hours to accomodate for student schedules, going to them is an absolutely humiliating experience. Her tone is very standoffish and has made me regret asking her about any of the material in general. All in all, if you have a chance, try and get Prof.Hunter Glanz for this class, because, in the few times that he has subbed for this class, he seems like a WAY cooler professor and much more receptive to questions and comments about SAS in general.

Dr Pileggi is an extremely condescending teacher and makes it difficult to feel like a successful student in the class. Her office hours do not accommodate hardly ANY students, she refuses to answer any question by email and makes you post on the stupid forum, and is always extremely unclear with her expectations. As a Statistics Minor, I have had no experience coding so this class was definitely challenging for me, however should I have had Dr. Glanz as a teacher, Im sure I would have enjoyed the class much more. The homework can take an extremely long time, so plan on spending quite a bit of time on that, and forget about studying for the midterms. Its open note but she really knows how to fuck with you so you get a bad grade. And dont worry, she'll make you feel like total shit in class by observing the students that did well. She definitely has favorites in the class, and lets everyone know. I thought Dr Pileggi was the coolest woman at first, but after talking to her for a little bit, I soon realized just how demeaning, rude and standoffish she really is. She created a project for our class to help us learn and left it COMPLETELY open-ended and open for interpretation. Wondering why you got a 10/20? Well she'll point out in class that some student understood her expectations while everyone else must just be an idiot. Want to resubmit your assignment? Dont forget to read the fine print or else not matter how much work you do, she wont make an exceptions and make you feel like total shit. If you're not on top of your shit 24/7, she will probably be eating popcorn and watching you fail, thats how much she enjoys it. AVOID Dr Pileggi if you are a newbie to coding (or stats in general) as she WILL NOT cater to your ability.

Dr. Pileggi is a a great professor and clearly outlines what you need to know. I took her for both 417 and 330. You literally need to know her notes that she provides and you'll be chillin. There are no surprises and she really does her best to make the exams off the notes. She grades fairly for the most part except for her projects. As much as I like Dr. Pileggi, I have to admit that the grading for the projects are super specific and she isn't generous with points. You really have to understand what she wants on projects. That's the only thing to be wary of.

This is the first time Pileggi has ever taught this course and she did okay, but not great. There were quite a few times where students were confused and she didn't really know the answer so she often would take a day or two to come up with an answer which was frustrating. The way she taught the class was she would go through PowerPoint slides everyday and students would print the slides out and fill out information with her. In addition, we would have a Minitab/R lab once a week which was completely pointless because we don't have to do coding for the tests and they were just a waste of time. We had approx 1 homework and 1 lab due a week (lab completed in class), along with 2 midterms, a project, and a final. She grades pretty fairly but decided to change her grading protocols in the middle of the quarter without telling anybody which was unprofessional and broke the syllabus contract. All in all, she wasn't the best professor so if you can get one with better ratings that's probably your best bet, but she is okay and it's possible to do well in the class (but not without frustrations).
