Professor Rees is an extremely friendly professor who seems to actually care about whether you learn the material or not. The classes were only 50 minutes long, but they felt very short because he made the class enjoyable. Definitely recommend this professor. He also makes jokes which are funny. Idk man. Just a solid professor.

definelty recommend Rees. he is extremely friendly and he makes soil science EXTREMELY straight forward and pretty simple. I think most people got an A or B in the class but I got extremely lazy and did bad on all of the tests. the whole class is basically memorization and definelty does take some effort. however, he gives you a study guide and if you memorize every answer on it you're pretty much guaranteed to get an A. he is very very nice and will do anything to help you out. I also did bad on the 5 point quizzes which dropped my grade too. he is definelty a good teacher even though I struggled in the class

Just a note that this review is for ERSC 223, polyratings for some reason doesn't have ERSC in their system which is retarded. Anyways, Rees at first seemed like a really shy guy and as a result was tough to learn from but as the quarter progressed, he turned out to be a really cool professor and taught the subject really well. He had his awkward moments in class, but otherwise, he taught subjects in a very straightforward manner, answered questions really well, and added some funny commentary to lecture material. The class at first was overwhelming (the class got something like a 65-70 average on the first midterm) but as the quarter went on, things became easier and more manageable. He covers a lot of topics throughout the quarter, so you need to stay on top of your shit but it's nothing too complex, just understanding processed and memorizing minerals (which you definitely shouldn't cram for.... it adds up). Overall nothing negative about him and the class at all. An overview of the structure of the class... two midterms (short answer, matching, fill in the blank....not too bad really), a final, one homework assignment (it's literally a one sided worksheet which is really easy and you get plenty of time), and he gives out some quizzes which if you keep on top of lecture material he gives you really basic stuff that should make it passable. Also in the lab you have three quizzes, first one (with minerals) is really tough but he is extremely lenient with the grading on this one, and there are two more throughout the quarter. Overall, highly recommend!

Dr. Rees is one of my favorite professors that I have ever had. He is extremely approachable and very helpful with homework questions. I also was shocked at how quickly he was able to grade our work and hand it back to us. Also, he has a pretty good sense of humor. Definitely try and take any class that he offers and you will certainly learn a lot. Can't say enough good things about this professor.

I've had Dr. Rees for 3 classes now and I can honestly say he is one of the best professors I've ever had. He presents the material very clearly and is very helpful when people are struggling. He often is quite funny too which is a great bonus. Can't recommend this professor enough.

Rees is great at explaining the concepts in an understandable way. He makes sly jokes every once in a while that go largely underappreciated by the majority of students, but help retain attention nonetheless. The tests are always fair and grading is consistent throughout the course. Would definitely recommend Rees for all classes, not just this one.
