Heidi is hands down a GREAT professor! She understands that not everyone is into Theatre and knows that the class may be hard to understand at times because of the content. Overall she's super nice and creates a friendly class environment. I'd recommend people who aren't theatre majors to take her class. It's not an acting class, it's more of a theatre history class. There are four quizzes based on the plays we read and there are weekly reading assignments. The midterm is fairly straightforward and is based on the chapters from the textbook. You'll get a good grade if you read the material and take notes during her lectures! You are required to go see a play and write a paper on it. The final is not a multiple choice test like the midterm, but it's a presentation on the part of a theatrical production you chose to research. Overall she's awesome! Take her class!

Heidi is a really, really good professor and her class is super interesting. You learn about theater, but also about pop culture history, race and issues (both past and present). We read 4 plays (followed by 4 quizzes) but they were all different enough that you'll probably like at least one of them. There was a lot of work crammed into the last few weeks of class but if you stay on top of it it's definitely doable. Highly recommend this class and professor! She is interesting, funny, understanding of her students, and makes class fun even for students that aren't super into theater/don't have much experience with it.

Take Hiedi's class. She gets to know every one of her 50 something students, and once emailed me when she was concerned about me being quiet and detached once in class. Class is somewhat easy, she loves theatre, and you will learn alot. Take it.

Heidi is an incredible. One of the first instructors I had at Cal Poly, and she is truly amazing. Everything you could want in a professor---sweet, funny, knows what she's doing, and makes the topic interesting. I have no interest in theatre and never will, but I looked forward to attending her class. She's amazing!

I love this woman. She is so incredibly knowledgeable, and she really does care about every single person in her class. Even if you are not particularly fond of theater, take this class anyways. She makes every class engaging, even though it was a two hour lecture, and if you put in the work, you will do very well in her class. She's just wonderful, both as a person and as a teacher.

Heidi is the nicest professor at Cal Poly. She is passionate and caring and this class is an easy A. Its mostly just memorizing content that is common knowledge and a little bit of script analysis. If you're into theatre at all you will enjoy it. I am not but it was still an easy class and Heidi makes up for the boring content!

I loved this class! Heidi is a great professor and understands that not everyone in the class necessarily enjoys theatre, and makes her lectures appealing for everyone. Her tests are based on things covered in lecture as well as stuff from the book that she doesn't cover in lecture, so if you don't read the chapters you won't do well. Other than that, I highly suggest taking this class with this professor!

Heidi totally understands that not everyone is super interested in theatre, and she is okay with that! She does her best to show you that Theatre isn't just plays and really tries to show you how theatre plays into everyday life. She does assign 3 plays to read which seems like a lot, but they are easy to read and the quizzes for them are super easy. When she assigns the reading, do it! The reading is very important for the midterm and final. She also offers a lot of extra credit opportunities which is really nice. Overall she is a really fun and friendly professor.

Heidi's lectures are LONG. Every slide is nearly filled with paragraphs of info that is rarely ever used again. Midterm 1 was designed to trick you a lot, and most of the class failed it, but the final was easy
