Take this professor if you can. This class was super easy and he's actually a pretty interesting guy. The lectures are kind of dry but I feel like somehow I still learned a bit about airplanes and such.

Easy af. Take it you wont regret it. Bruce Wright is awesome he knows his shit and he literally just wants you to do well because he realizes how stressful every other class is. One midterm, one final and you get to use your study guide that has all the answers on it. Make sure you actually go to class though because he gives pop quizzes now and they end up being 50% of your grade (essentially gives them for attendance you can use your notes though so still super easy). Take the class, it is an easy A and honestly you will be surprised how much you learn.

This guy is a tool but he's pretty funny and the class is super laid back. He's full of himself and thinks he's dope because he's apparently related to the Wright brothers and he created some bs aircraft. He actually might be a kike (jewish), but I'll take my A for my GPA boost. Thanks brother.

It was an easy A (I'll prolly get 100% in the class) as he let us use notes, laptops, etc in all quizzes/ tests. However, this quarter he said a lot of people did poorly even with the ability to use notes so he may be changing that for future quarters. If so, this class could be difficult since there's not enough time to write down what's in the powerpoint and what he's saying. good luck!

Great class. He is related to the Wright Brothers and has worked on some huge projects in the aerospace industry. He tells the class the first day he knows this is an easy class and that's why everyone takes it. He gives 11 quizzes (drops the lowest one) that are open note. They come straight from the powerpoint so no reason not to get 100% on them. The midterm is 20 questions with an essay portion worth 5 points. The 20 questions come from the study guide he gives you that you can bring to class. And the essay can be on literally anything plane related. You can write about your first flight and get full credit. The final is 25 questions and comes from another set of 100 practice questions that you can again bring to the exam. Overall a super easy class but also really interesting. Take some time to actually pay attention a bit because he has a lot of interesting commentary to share after being in the industry for so long.

Super easy class. Pay attention to things that he emphasizes verbally but aren't written on powerpoints as you might find it on the quiz. The only reason to take notes is if he lets you use them on in class quizzes. Otherwise don't bother. He gives you the study guides for the midterm and final way before the exams so you can google the answers

I'm currently enrolled in the class right now. He changed the format in his class a little bit from the previous ratings. His class is based off of 10 pop quizzes each worth 5 points. He does not drop any of the quizzes. Quizzes are open note and he lets you use your laptops. They are based on things you learned that day in lecture. Quizzes are easy if you pay attention and take notes on the videos he shows (which is like every class). He has one midterm which is worth 25 points. 20 points from Multiple Choice and True or False questions. He does give you a study guide BUT THE MIDTERM IS NOW CLOSED NOTES. He did this starting this quarter because people were still bombing the midterm even though it was open note! Then there is the final which is 25 points all multiple choice, no essay. Basically, just go to every class, don't miss any pop quizzes and you're golden. Take him if you can! I heard this is his last year teaching!!!

First day of class he says this is supposed to be an easy A. All you have to do is go to class. That's it. Quizzes are open note and I worked with my neighbor. He gives you the test questions ahead of time so you can figure them out throughout the quarter. Take Bruce! You won't regret it!

THIS IS THE EASIEST CLASS AT CAL POLY. Bruce Wright is an awesome teacher as well as person. I recommend this class to anyone and everyone. You learn a lot from the class too. I'm glad I got into the class and got to take it.

UPDATE - STARTING FALL 2017 Bruce requires you to buy his textbooks, as of FALL 17 he has written 2 volumes that cost $150 and soon he will be releasing a third volume (you will need all 3) He DOES NOT provide study guides for midterms and final anymore, this is different than in the past. However, he is allowing us to use our notes and textbook for the quizzes and midterms, but with that being said he is forcing students to buy his $150 books because he is asking questions that you would only get correct if you have the textbook (there is reading assignments due before class) Oh yeah and he changed all the quizzes so you won't be able to use quizzes that buddies gave you from previous quarters! It might still be an easy A, but there is more work associated with the course, homework reading assignments, and expensive textbooks.

Students have characterized this class as an "easy A" because the quizzes and tests are open book. This class IS an easy A if you don't ever miss a class. Please be warned, however, that if you get sick and miss even one pop quiz, you will need to do the extra credit to keep an A, which will require you to travel to the Paso Robles Estrella Warbirds airplane museum or an airshow and pay an admission fee (use your Cal Poly student ID for a discount). If you miss two quizzes, the best you can hope for is an A-, even if you don't miss any points on any other quizzes, the midterm or the final. It doesn't matter why you are absent, you cannot make up quizzes. My biggest complaint about this class is the new textbook requirement. I had heard that Mr. Wright would not be teaching this year and was retiring. Apparently, he decided to stick around to get his self-publishing company off the ground. He has been teaching this class for many years with no textbooks, but has now written a set of textbooks which he basically sells out of the trunk of his car for $150 for a two-volume set. Winter quarter 2018 students will be excited to learn he has added a third volume, so you are probably looking at $225. These are required and you will be strong-armed into buying your own individual set and not sharing with other students. He will e-mail you and call you out repeatedly in class until you do. He is not shy about letting you know that these books are his retirement plan. He will intentionally build quizzes around the book to prove to you that you need them. Beware: Although the books are advertised as having been "peer reviewed," they are self-published, contain mostly curated catalogs of various aircraft, and are missing important material. For example, the fourth and most important flight of the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk on December 17, 1903, which happens to be the very first manned, sustained flight in the world, is missing from the textbook. Because they aren't sold in the bookstore, I don't believe you can sell them back. (He says they'd be too expensive for students if they were sold through the bookstore. My guess is what he means is they'd be too expensive for students because he's not willing to cut into his profit margin.) Don't get me wrong - this man knows his stuff and I do NOT begrudge him writing a textbook, but I don't think he should be allowed to require students to buy self-published books and to be so in-your-face about letting students know they are being exploited for his personal profit. I'm giving mine away to pay it forward. I'd recommend others do the same, or sell them on Craigslist. He also uses slides which he makes available to the students in .pdf form. I printed the slides out four slides to a page, double sided, and wrote my notes on these, which made the midterm super easy and will make the final super easy as well. I didn't really need to take notes - to his credit, the answers to any questions are either in the textbooks or on the slides. You will NOT be able to memorize the information in the books - it is too much and too detailed, too many airplanes with too-similar names to memorize and differentiate them for a test. Familiarize yourself with the table of contents and you don't really need to read, just skim so you can find the answers quickly for the tests. There are 10 quizzes worth 5 points each, generally one a week, but during at least one week he will surprise you with two quizzes. He does not drop your lowest quiz score, which I think would be a very fair condition considering there is no ability to make up a class/quiz no matter what. The midterm is worth 25 points - 20 points multiple choice and 5 points for a 300-word essay about any experience you had related to airplanes, which is generally a guaranteed 5 points. The final is 25 points, multiple choice, and is not cumulative, it covers only the material after the midterm. The answers to all the questions are in the textbooks or the slides, however the questions seek very specific, detailed information and can be hard to find even if you've done the reading. It's like looking for a needle in a haystack, but is an effective way of convincing you that you NEED THOSE TEXTBOOKS. This all adds up to 100 points. You need 96 points for an A, 92 points for an A-, less than 92 points is a B or lower, so as you can see, if you miss even one 5-point quiz, you are already down to an A- and will be struggling to keep that A-. So, although I'm an honors student, I didn't find it such an easy A. I missed one class/quiz and it required extra outside work on my part to do the extra credit. I guess it depends on what factors you think make a class easy. Yes, the tests and quizzes are easy, but if you value your GPA, pray you have perfect health and don't need to miss even one class for any reason. All that having been said, I loved the Estrella Warbirds Museum and highly recommend you go sometime. Lectures were interesting about half the time, but about half the time they consist of descriptions of airplane after airplane after airplane. I enjoyed the history of flight and the history of the development of the aircraft, and near the end, I enjoyed the information about the space program, but I didn't enjoy so much the technical, detailed stuff that made up much of the middle lectures. I think many would enjoy that, though. Mr. Wright has been giving these same lectures for many years, so he basically reads from the .pdf slides for the full two hours, although he does insert some good videos into the mix. He also pauses to tell personal stories about his successes or to share his political views on military spending. I've heard many enjoy these stories. I didn't so much, but can understand that others who weren't so jaded about the textbook situation might.

Professor Wright is an ideal professor. The recent purchasing of books isn’t great, but the class is still awesome. Also, he is extremely lenient when it comes to excusing quizzes, so if it’s a valid excuse and you let him know it is excused. 10 pop quizzes all EXTREMELY easy 1 midterm with an essay and a final. You can put very minimal effort, learn a ton from an industry professional, and get an A.

Very easy class. Never studied for it; exams essentially tested if I could look up the answers in the book/notes quickly enough (which you certainly can a majority of the time). Interesting material for sure. Would recommend.

Easy class. You're told to buy his book, but I read only like 3 chapters. His book is essentially the same thing as his lecture notes. Never studied, however, pay attention in class since that's where his quizzes come from (50% of your grade). Tests are similar to his previous model, just look up quizlet.

Easy class, and also a complete waste of time. The material is presented in the least interesting way possible, and the class is pure recall. Show up and get your easy A, just know that you won't enjoy it. God I hated this class.

This class was my favorite so far at Cal Poly. The quizzes are a breeze. If you can't find the answers in your notes/his slides, they'll be on Quizlet. The midterm is take home, and the incredibly short "essay" is basically completion credit. The final exam is open note and only took me 20 minutes. Dr. Wright is an awesome guy. His life stories are crazy, and the stuff he talks about is actually very interesting if you like aeronautics at all. The only thing is that you do pretty much have to come to every class because the quizzes are on random class days. But I liked going to class, so I didn't mind.

Bruce is the man. Little full of himself but has a bunch of great stories and knows a lot about aerospace.
