Prof. Pouraghabagher is awesome! It was her first quarter teaching this quarter (Winter 2015), and she truly cares about her students beyond just their grades. As a successful businesswomen and accountant, she has so much knowledge of the real world and bases her class on that rather than just the textbook. She has tons of connections and is always willing to help her students out. She explains everything very well and as long as you do the homework, you can easily get an A or a B!

Professor Pouraghabagher has been my favorite teacher so far. I went dreading accounting and praying I would pass, and now I can honestly say that I'm considering it as a concentration. She's a real teacher that relates to her students. It was her first quarter and she's only going to improve. There are two tests, two pop quizzes, and homework for each chapter that as long as you attempt it and turn it in you will get fill credit for. Do it though, it really helps and you'll go over it in class the day its due. If you work hard and show up and actively participate, she may give you extra credit at the end of the quarter. She knows her stuff, she's been really successful and she loves cal poly (alum) and wants her students to do well. Work hard play hard!

i hate accounting. it's boring. but Pouraghabagher is a great lady. professional, impressive resume, very personable. accounting is not that hard to grasp, but i could not for the life of me ace any exams. perhaps it's the fact i dread the subject and in fact changing majors out of BUS (so this class does nothing for me). glad i had her.

I loved prof pouraghabagher! She was an incredible teacher. Accounting gives me nightmares and I was really nervous going into the class but she explained everything so well and I left the class with a great understanding of financial accounting. She genuinely cares about the success of her students and she has experience in the professional field so she teaches us only what we need to know not the additional stuff in the book that other professors even make you learn.

Dear Polyratings, I was nervous about taking accounting, but this professor has done an outstanding job of teaching this subject. Pouraghabagher presents material clearly and really makes an effort to make sure every student understands. Her midterms are not easy, and you definitely have to put in the hours to get a full understanding. However, it is very possible to get a good grade. She truly cares about her students and I would definitely recommend her. Overall, Pouraghabagher is an intelligent, funny, and great professor.

I took Pouraghabagher the first quarter she came back to Cal Poly (she graduated in the 90's) and she basically came straight from jumping off the corporate ladder. I believe she went with KPMG right after she graduated...one of the big four at least. Anyways, she has incredible real world experience and will sometimes tell stories of her career or even add in the occasional "You will never have to use this in the real world if you go in to accounting." She is always professional but still knows how to keep the classroom atmosphere from veering into the inattentive abyss that is accounting. Homework was probably one of the biggest challenges for me because of the sheer amount of time it took. Per homework (due every other day) I was spending about 5+ hours of work. Many times it wasn't extremely difficult but the problems were very long and repetitive and she assigned a good chunk. BUT this really turned around in the second half of the quarter when we gave her feedback. She shortened most of the homework and updated the syllabus. The good thing is that if you really try with the homework you'll understand the material. OH and it's credit/no credit and we went over it in class. We would spend at least 1 hour of the 2 hours class just going through the problems and making sure everyone got it (this was kind of annoying especially when you knew the material but it was helpful nonetheless). Tests were very clear. Our grade was mainly made up of homework, 3(?) pop quizzes, and then I believe 2 midterms and a final. Pop quizzes were not that difficult, just know your stuff. Tests were pretty straight forward but you have to study and know all the equations! It is one of those classes if you just put the effort in you can get an A without completely busting your butt. Also, at the end of the quarter she'll give you some extra credit if you participated and didn't just sit there like a dead cow. There was a seating chart and I'm pretty sure attendance was required. Overall, I would totally take her! I wish she taught higher level courses so I could take her again! She really does care what students think and she isn't afraid to tell you why she uses the methods she does. I'm so glad I got her, especially for my first accounting class.

Extremely successful woman, and knowledgeable about accounting. She's great because she wants her students to succeed, but doesn't just hand it to them. Does an excellent job of presenting the information and gives you all the materials you need to succeed. Although accounting can be considered a pretty "dry" subject, her passion for it definitely livens up the class. I highly recommend her. If your looking for a good grade its easily achievable as long as you put in a fair amount of work. Midterms and Final all scantron and nothing that isn't covered in lecture.

GREAT professor. She is extremely knowledgeable, fair and wants to help you learn. The class has 2 midterms, a final, 3 pop quizzes and a homework/participation grade. To some the material is fairly challenging but the class gives you plenty of time to learn the material and ask questions. She has so much real world experience and takes half a class to have a career discussion. The reading and homework can sometimes take a while, but it is manageable and appropriate for the class. She is an extremely talented professor and I would recommend for anyone to take this class.

I LOVE this professor! I took her fall quarter and am choosing a career in Accounting because of her class. She is an inspiration, explains the material so well, and takes the time to discuss career options with all her students. There is a decent amount of homework but if you do it you will do well in class. She always goes over the homework which is super helpful. A lot of students ask her for career advice after class and she's always willing to help. Overall highly recommend taking HER!!,

I absolutely loved Prouaghabagher. She's a teacher that really tries to help you understand the material and is a great first-time teacher for any newcomer. I wish I had attended office hours and tutoring after the 2nd midterm but I didn't realize it soon enough. She hasn't been teaching long (I think it was her 2nd quarter teaching when I had her) but you wouldn't even be able to tell. She's a "real" teacher and doesn't like to waste your, or her time. Pouraghabagher is one of the most knowledgeable, experienced, and relatable professors on campus. I took Financial Accounting fall quarter, and she made the transition into college very smooth. She knows her stuff because she's made a career for herself for 20 years. She's really easy to talk to, and she makes accounting less dry than it seems. If you put in some effort, it'll pay off. She enjoys teaching for the benefit of the student, and for that, she's been really influential for me.

I loved Pouraghabagher so much. Probably one of the best if not best teacher/professor I've ever heard had! She is extremely knowledgable and experienced in the accounting profession, so she teaches around that! Sometimes she can have trouble explaining things because she hasn't been teaching very long, but definitely go to her office hours and do your homework and you will be fine. The class itself is very straightforward. She structures the class with lecture one day and the next going over ALL the homework problems so that everyone understands it. I highly recommend her!

This professor is the bomb. She is highly professional and takes no bullshit in her class. She holds herself and everyone in the class to a high standard. Everyone who takes her class will be lucky to have her as their accounting professor. That being said, the course itself is hard. The first two weeks of class is BRUTAL. 5 hours of homework assigned Monday and due Wednesday. I actually cried doing one of the assignments. However, after the first two weeks is over, it's the workload definitely lightens up to only 2 hours-tops (of course she will never tell you this herself). Take her, you won't regret it.

If you are reading this take Pouraghabagher!!! SHE IS UNBELIEVABLY PERFECT. Sorry, I dont want her to not live up to the hype that is this rating (& all the other ratings below), but she will impact your life I have no doubt. Sisi is a total professional badass, she is an amazing professional that has had so much success in her career that when she gives you glimpses of it you will want to become her. I was super scared to take accounting but she did an amazing job teaching this class - I have never felt so much excitement in such a dry class. The material is not too challenging and she is great at teaching it - she is also amazing at explaining things in more depth if you dont understand them. I am uninterested in pursuing accounting as a career, & even if you know you arent going to concentrate in accounting take Sisi regardless if there is another class that is easier. This one is barely difficult at all and the life lessons, professionalism, etc that you will receive from this woman is beyond worth it. I really wish she knew how much she has impacted not only my life but so many others at OCOB. Everyone that I have ever talked to her about always start off by "I love her" and that is usually followed by "she inspired me to do (enter statement)". So if you are looking for an amazing teacher, experience, and all this sort of stuff take this class with Sisi! She will leave you saying "Oh now I remember why i chose Cal Poly" after every class.

Professor Pouraghabagher is by far one of the best instructors I have had in all my years of education. She clearly explains concepts and makes sure we understand them throughout the class, and then even goes over the homework to make sure we still understand. She wants to make sure we not only succeed in the class, but in our careers and that is why she constantly refers to which information in the textbook is actually relevant and which is simply a required part of the curriculum. She always reminds us to come into office hours for help or to just ask for career advice, considering she was a CEO by the time she was 27. I received a C in this class simply because I did not put in enough work; I definitely could have understood the topic better if I had gone into office hours, seen the tutor, or simply reviewed the course material more. It is a very difficult class, especially if accounting is not your thing, but the professor will in no way impede your success as some others do. I regret not putting more effort in now, as having Pouraghabagher as a revered mentor would definitely be beneficial in the future.

This professor is absolutely incredible! She explains everything clearly and really does care about her students. She's a super successful woman and you're lucky if you get to hear about her professional life, she's rather humble for how accomplished she is. The class consists of one day of lecturing then one day of going over homework. The homework is difficult and tedious but it truly did make me understand the material so much more. Honestly, I probably could've gotten an A if I had gone to office hours or reached out to others in the class for help. Also, there are three pop quizzes throughout the quarter and I wasn't prepared for them all too well but they didn't end up counting for too big of a proportion of my grade anyway. Overall, I highly recommend taking her, she might even bring your class pizza during the final if you're lucky :)

Sisi is goals! She is an amazing professor and person! I enjoyed going to her class everyday. She is very straightforward, to the point, and knowledgable. She does use a socratic method of teaching, and calls out on students to answer questions. Nonetheless, it is done with the intent to treat us as if were in the business world where we have to be prepared to answer questions on-the-spot at meetings. She provides you with the necessary resources and tools to succeed in the class. With all that being said, take Sisi if you have the opportunity!

Pouraghabagher is such an accounting BOSS LADY she can be so intimidating but in the best way possible. I love her professionalism with students but also she is SO realistic about life after college. She often would tell us stories from her career and throughout the quarter she would talk about her current company she was consulting for which was so helpful for tying the dry information with the more interesting real world applications. She often would tell us as we would learn new material that real accountants don't compute the debits and credits so if you're scared or thinking about concentrating in accounting and you don't do so hot in this class don't be scared. Everyone always says how this class is so hard but if you just do exactly what she tells you (I personally think it is a very manageable course load) you will do well! I had just switched to business and this was the first business class I officially took as a business major and she confirmed I made the right choice and now I'm probably going to concentrate in accounting. ALSO she would literally grade midterms and quizzes within 2 hours after we took them and post the grades on polylearn which really made me love her because I've never had a professor post grades so fast.

Professor Pourabaghber (whatever) has been my favorite professor here at cal poly. She presents information clearly and was able to answer every students questions. She also talks about life outside of college (namely a career in accounting). She is highly qualified (She sits on the board of a company) and will be a good connection to have later in life. POSITIVES: Professor Pouraghabagher knows the Financial Accounting material in and out, is gracious and patient with students, and offers much professional insight into the world of business throughout the course of the year. NEGATIVES: The class moves at a fast pace which some students may find overwhelming at times, although as stated previously, Professor Pouraghabagher is patient and will always take time to answer questions and try to make sure that the class understands the material. HOW TO GET THE A: Overall the class is not challenging. The material can only get so complicated, and the variety of test questions is limited. That said, there is a lot of information to go over, and the class goes at a fast pace so if you fall behind or do not establish the fundamentals in chapters one through five, you will have some late nights studying to make up for the lost time. Read the chapters thoroughly twice over, once before the class session, and once before the test, and complete all the homework questions carefully. Furthermore, practice all the multiple choice questions in the textbook for each chapter along with several new book problems a few days before each test, and I guarantee you will earn a high A.

Really great professor and great course, but she can definitely be intimidating at first. You have to be at all the classes and do all the homework completely, but if you stay on top of it and understand the content in class then you are setup really well for the midterms and final and you should be able to get a good grade. Classes generally alternate between lectures and going through homework from the previous lecture's content. She goes through the whole class and everybody has to explain the answer to a problem each--this is scary at first but it's not that big of a deal if you get it wrong, she'll go through it and make sure you understand how to do it correctly. Overall a great class.

Pouraghabagher is a very knowledgeable person and a great fit as a professor of financial accounting. That being said this class is one that takes a lot of time outside of the class to really do well. The class has four pop quizzes that are usually done on very unexpected days, however, the quizzes are not too hard as long as you are there. The class has two midterms and a final which all have a high weighting on your grade. The first and second midterms were challenging and you have to carefully read the question as some of them are there to trick you. I personally thought the final was difficult (100MC) since she tests on so much material.
