She is a very nice lady, but that doesn't mean anything when you don't know whats going on in class. It was a 101 but assumed her students knew Spanish so she glossed over things, rarely explained herself and really didn't do alot of teaching.

I don't understand where the negative comments are coming from. Sure she doesn't have the most structured or organized lectures but she's extremely nice and always answers questions clearly. She also gives some smaller side lectures about Latin history/culture which are nice additions to a Spanish class. I always felt like her classes fly by as they are very interactive and involve a lot of talking with your classmates. Her tests are quite easy as well, and the homework is essentially free points every week, so there is no reason you shouldn't get an A if you show up. I highly recommend taking Rucci if you can.

Professor Rucci has little to no structure. Although her attitude is positive and she is understanding of student needs, she seems to cause more issues for her students than she solves. She takes for granted that everyone knows certain vocabulary, and because of this she skips over important information and conjugations. I would recommend taking any level of Spanish with a different instructor.

I have never felt so uncomfortable in a class before. I didn’t take Spanish in high school and she glossed over so many things so I was lost every single day. Then she would call on me and belittle me when I didn’t know the answer. However, I cram a couple days before the test and get an A with no problem. I dread going to this class and it adds so much unecessary stress to my day, she’s only nice to the people who’ve taken Spanish before and know all of the answers. If you are lost, she makes you feel like an idiot.

Professor Rucci is an incredible Spanish professor! I learned more in one quarter than I did in three years of high school Spanish. It had been nearly 4 years since I had last taken Spanish, and Professor Rucci helped ease me back into it. She speaks very simply in Spanish, which builds your listening skills, but then lectures in English whenever she's teaching a new topic. She grades very generously, and every day I was shocked that 50 minutes had passed and her class was over. Definitely take her!

Rucci is extremely unorganized and her doesn't even make her own tests. The group project with the AG policy class is very hecktick and they hardly give you any time to met with your group during class. shes fairly easy but alot of the assignments are bs and as long as you put a little thought and a side of bs its easy. If the other spanish 111 teacher is teaching I recommend taking them.

I recommend taking Rucci! Her class is really unorganized, so if youre OCD, don't take her. Also, If you have never taken spanish before, don't take her. she kind of assumes that everyone knows at least some basic spanish. there was quite a lot of homework for the class which I hated, but i recommened the class because she is really nice and tried to make class fun, and she is a fair grader.

Professora Rucci was a wonderful teacher! Spanish is my weakest subject and I have been incredibly anxious as I have worked through the 101 to 201 series. I expressed my anxieties to Professora Rucci on the first day of class and she was very kind to me. She didn't give up on me and always made sure to offer extra help when I needed it. Señora Rucci is SO PATIENT and accommodating. She seriously cares about her students. If you ever need extra explanation she seems happy to help. Her class is structured in a way where your strengths in Spanish can make up for your weaknesses in Spanish (many different types of assignments with grammar, writing, and one speaking project). If you are in the English/COMS/History major and need to finish your language support class I GLADLY endorse Señora Rucci.

I LOVE RUCCI. She is really nice and usually lets you turn in stuff late without taking away points (but don't take advantage of it). She cares a lot about the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries and wants to share the language with others. She always gave extra credit opportunities so hop on those! She also likes to throw shade at Trump and is an awesome feminist! TAKE RUCCI!

This course was very difficult to get through a quarter of. There were many days where we would just talk in Spanish the whole time and get called on for answers we barely knew how to respond to, although that helped to speak the other language better, I wish I knew the vocabulary she was talking about. There were only a couple days during the quarter that she actually taught the grammar for the chapter that we were on, the only reason I knew how to do it was because of high school. My teachers in high school taught me so much more than I learned from Professor Rucci. She also expects students to volunteer 10 hours outside of class and with working, going to other classes during the time slots you could sign up for, and lack of a car it was so hard. The place to volunteer was a 30-minute walk from campus and impossible to go between classes. If I didn't have to work and I had a car this would be no problem and I love working with kids, but this is very inconvenient for a lot of students who have to work! Besides that, she is a really nice person and it is nice that we do have days where we talk, but it is a class that I need to take for a Spanish minor and I feel as if my knowledge of Spanish has not gone up at all, I want to be able to actually know the language!

I signed up for this class because I needed it for my Spanish minor. Unfortunately, the class required a ridiculous amount of busy work that I had no time for. 10 hours of mandatory volunteer work at a bilingual school 30 minutes from campus? Nope, no time. She never explains anything until the day before it's due and suddenly you have a million bs assignments to get through in one night. I had to drop before I died. Like not only is there too much stupid work, but the class itself should be so easy. She talks so slowly I wanted to shoot myself like please hurry it up Nancy, we've only got 50 minutes. Overall, don't take her. I'm testing out of the course, but either way I was not down for the amount of bullshit homework she assigned.

I had an absolutely amazing experience with Rucci in SPAN 203. I took 202 with Sanchez last quarter and it was the epitome of an easy A. As a result, I entered Rucci's class with a rocky foundation for what I would be learning throughout the quarter. You can tell she really knows what she is talking about and is always willing to help out her students. Disclaimer about the class, it is a lot of work. The 202 class I took with Sanchez had virtually no homework and required no effort, so if the class you are taking before Rucci's is similar to this, be prepared to step it up when you get to her class. There are in class writing assignments, compositions, tests and a plethora of additional homework that make up her class. Maintaining a high B or an A takes a considerable amount of time and effort, so if you are already taking a heavy class load maybe consider taking a different teacher. However, if you are willing to put in the time, you will 100% see results. I have seen my Spanish improve more this quarter than in any other Spanish class I have taken. I feel totally ready to take the next Spanish class up with confidence that I will have a good foundation coming from her class. The book is the same as the book you use in 202 so you don't need to buy a new book which is nice. The only thing about Rucci that was a little annoying was that she is bad with technology. She doesn't know to use polylearn that well, a lot of assignments are in the wrong folders and she will tell you that certain things are on polylearn but sometimes they aren't. In addition, she is a little unclear sometimes as to what she expects on compositions and other assignments. To combat this, I encourage you to ASK QUESTIONS! She will totally explain it if you ask questions to clarify, but if you don't you may find some of the assignments to be a little confusing. Overall, would totally recommend Rucci if you genuinely want to improve your Spanish and are up for a little bit of a challenge!
