He does not teach anything at all in class and basically you have to teach yourself everything. His homework isn't that bad and is worth most of the grade(30%), but it is nothing like the weekly quizzes AT ALL.

One of the most pompous, arrogant, bastards I have ever encountered. This man is the CFO? CEO? MVP? of the Cal Poly Foundation, his title changes everyday however he constantly reminds you how educated he is. Perhaps somebody with a PhD could do more than read pre made slides and argue with students over frivolous point deductions. In all honestly the class is not that difficult, however, he is a total ass and should be avoided. For example, he brought me down THREE letter grades on a project for an incredibly minor formatting error. This man is a textbook Narcissists.

Trexler is a really nice guy who clearly knows his accounting. Although he's worked for the school's finance/accounting department for years, I believe this was there first time he's taught at Poly. This being said, he reads through the powerpoint slides without much explanation. I didn't really learn much unless questions were asked. If you ask a specific questions, he'll explain very though roughly on the board, and it makes a lot of sense. With time, I think he'll definitely improve as far has his teaching technique goes. His class is made up of weekly quizzes that take around 30 minutes (and a lot of them have extra credit), weekly online homework, one very easy project, and a cumulative final. He lays everything out very clearly at the beginning of the quarter, and it is really not very hard to get an A or a B if you show up to class and do the homework. He's also very approachable in office hours and has good intentions for everyone to do well. Overall, I'd recommend.

He doesn't teach that much, but he was pretty easy as far as accounting professors go. Just do the homework and do well on the quizzes and you have an easy A. However, messing up on one quiz will definitely hurt your grade

Grant Trexler is not bad, but he's nothing special. I would only learn the material after I read over the chapter and completed the practice problems. I would however, dread walking to this class every morning only because he would never tell some of the students to raise their hand. They would constantly talk over the professor and try to teach the class and he never had the courage to put them in their place. They made the class so awful. However, it's not difficult to do well in the class. The only thing is that if you screw up on one quiz you can kiss your grade goodbye. I had a solid 90 the entire quarter and my grade dropped 4% from one awful quiz scores. With 9 quizzes, it is very unreasonable to not drop at least the lowest one. Just be willing to put in a lot of effort the ENTIRE QUARTER, and don't relax, because I did and It screwed me over. Accounting can be hard for some students because the concepts are new, but this class is pretty straightforward. Don't procrastinate on your homework or reading and you'll be fine. Trexler isn't too horrible, there are much worse BUS 214 professors.

He gives you everything you need to get an A in the class. Even down to answering questions right before the quiz and giving subtle hints to what will be on the quiz. I missed the last quiz but he still took the time during his office hours to give me a walk through of everything that happened in class.

Trexler is the man! As a person he is one of the most down to earth and funniest people to talk too. His teaching in class is more or less reading off a powerpoint but he does provide numerous examples in addition to the powerpoint on the board. Trexler wants you to succeed. Go to his office hours. He is very helpful there. His class consists of quizzes that are around 6% of your grade each. You have a project thats 5%. Homework is due weekly and all online. There are no midterms. The final is cumulative but he gives you a good study guide for it. Trexler also rounds grades to get a higher letter grade. For example he will raise you from an 88 to a 90 or a 78 to a 80. However, he will not raise you from a 90 to a 92 or a 85 to an 88. Basically he only rounds to change your letter grade. This class is easy if you put the work in. The people who are complaining are the ones who didn't put in effort. In conclusion Grant Trexler is the man!

Nicest guy, worst professor ever. Its basically him talking to himself while going through powerpoints that aren't even his. His weekly quizzes are hard as hell and he doesn't prepare you at all. Bus 214, I thought, was super hard. You need a good professor for this class, and he is NOT it.

Trexler is pretty rad guy but he's a terrible professor. His intentions are good but he just can't teach. He notices when his students are struggling and tries his best to help but it doesn't really help. He's a pretty chill guy though. There are no midterms but there's a quiz every week and the quizzes are hard as hell. He doesn't even drop the lowest quiz grade (which would've been very helpful). I mean, he does try really hard to help his students and he does everything he can. If you go to his office hours, he'll help you out as much as he can. But I mean I still can't figure out much and hs class is making me reevaluate my life choices. Oh! but he brings you snacks to class and always lets out the class early so that's pretty cool. Overall, I recommend his class because he's a cool guy, but try to get as much help as possible because you'll need it.

Trexler is a great guy who clearly cares about his students. He has years of experience in accounting and definitely knows his stuff. Unfortunately, he is a bad lecturer. The entire lecture is just him reading off a powerpoint, which is pulled straight from the book. He pretty much tells you exactly what is on the quiz, so there is really no excuse for getting a bad grade. I believe he is new to teaching so hopefully he will improve with time. Overall, great guy, bad teacher.

Trexler is an incredibly friendly professor. He is very experienced in Accounting and is in fact working in his field alongside being a professor. His grading system is rigid, but not unfair. Weekly quizzes instead of midterms, which I found made it easier to learn and retain the information taught. He was able to very clearly answer any questions I had for him, and was just as clear in explaining the topic being covered. He really cares about student success! He even learned and memorized the names of every person in the class. His office hours are very flexible as long as you contact him beforehand. He is always willing to go over material in-class or no, even if it's right before a quiz. Almost everything needed to know about accounting is included in the textbook, so I didn't personally have a problem with him essentially using powerpoint slides taken from the book to teach. In fact at times I found it very helpful since he would often clarify what the book taught, or show easier ways of doing a task than shown in the book. He is very fast-paced however, so you do have to pay attention for the lesson to make sense. Overall, Professor Trexler is a great teacher for this class, and one of my favorite professors so far! I would highly recommend taking his class if you can.

Ugh. I spent 10 hours every weekend studying this one freaking class - taking notes on the book (weighs like 10lbs), doing the online Connect homework for 4-5 hours every week (doing practice problems too), and spending 1 hour in his office hours every week before the weekly quiz and still got a C. At one point I had an A, but then I ended with a C because of his final & because he started getting lazy in lecture. He passed out PowerPoint notes but they didn't help at all - he sped through them like crazy so I couldn't even keep up. He barely faced the class because he would simply show off his knowledge by completing the problems on the board so darn fast... he would skip over important little steps and just write the end result assuming we knew stuff. He bragged about his career journey and accomplishments. However, when I was in office hours every week (lol) he would answer every question I had. You better be good with numbers and learn quickly to do well in this class..

Yo first off Professor Trexler is one of the nicest teachers at Cal Poly. His class is very easy to pass as long as you ask him questions and pay attention. He is very approachable and really cares that his students preform well; he also made an effort to know each one of our names which is unheard of for a teacher who's teaching a class of 60+ students. Yes it is very hard to read it his handwriting and he goes at an extremely fast pace, but if you follow along in class and with the homework online, which you get 3 tries to complete and is a pretty much free 15% of your grade, then you should have no problem receiving at least a b in the class. Also there is a good 4-5% of extra credit on his quizzes..... its finance lol its not that hard as long as you just do the work.

LISTEN UP. V IMPORTANT REVIEW. First off, no, he is not great at presenting the material. He goes through slides that are difficult to follow and I learn pretty much nothing. I actually told him they aren't very helpful so he's incorporating more class problems. HOWEVER, the weekly quizes in place of midterms are VERY helpful. He gives extra credit questions on each quiz and I've gotten good grades on every one. The homework is online, which I love. You go through and the problems not only have videos of how to do the problem, but also the ability to check your answer to see if you got it wrong before you submit. The homework is due the day of the quiz and prepares me for them. I never read out of the book and I'm doing above average. He's also just a very nice, understanding guy and willing to help when you have questions. I recommend his class.

I gave a decent review before but because of recent events I've decided to do an additional one. I mentioned you learn jack shit in his class, but that it's okay because his weekly quizes in place of midterms are appreciated. Well here's my problem. Because his two hour lecture is honestly a COMPLETE waste of my time since I have to read the entire chapter myself to understand the material anyways, I skipped the other week. Well, he decided to give an additional pop quiz worth ten points solely because a good amount of students weren't there. You'd think he would take that as a hint that our time is better spent OUTSIDE his classroom where we can actually make progress in learning the material, rather than zoning out to him quickly lecture from slides that aren't his and are too general to teach anything.
