This guy babbles to himself while he "lectures" His grading style is totally unclear, and is probably the biggest geek in the Western Hemisphere. AVOID

Perhaps the nicest man on campus as long as you don't question him; questioning leads to a raving tyrant spouting unintelligable words about how he can screw you if he wants. Homework is a joke, tests are a joke. Who in there right mind passes out a part open and part closed book test at the same time. The only thing the class is good for is a study hall for other classes as long as you aren't distracted by the people next to you snoring. I seriously can't believe the department requires us to take this class let alone make it 4 units. Grit your teeth, take your punches, and don't open your mouth.

Don't get this class at 8 am, Dr. Lo will put you to sleep. The man is incredible boring and doesn't convey the material very well. Take someone else if they teach this class.

Dr. Lo probably knows something useful. Unfortunately, if he does, no one will ever learn it from him. Read your Water Resources Engineering book if you want to learn about Water Resources Engineering. Listen to Dr. Lo if you're having trouble sleeping. Do and redo your homework, come to class, and bring some good reading material.

As other people have said, Dr. Lo is an extremely boring professor. I tried my best to stay awake, but he didn't make it easy. He hands out all of his lecture notes so there is no need to even write down most of what he says in lecture. There are homework assignments every week, but if you don't do well you can just redo the homework and turn it in again and again until you get it right. His two exams are open book and cover things that are very basic and very obscure. If you understand the homework assignments, you will do fine on the test. Only a couple of the homework assignments are really time consuming. When going to class, I suggest you bring some snacks to munch on to help stay awake. Even though Dr. Lo is a nice guy, it is still a very dull class and I didn't learn much.

Dr. Lo is a boring guy. He tends to go over info VERY slowly, which isn't necessary since the material is pretty easy anyway. Still, attending class is beneficial since he has a few gems of relevant information hidden between repeating himself over and over again. He's a really nice guy, it's a really easy class, it's not torturous enough to bitch about all that much.

Profesor Lo is the worst profesor I've ever had in my 4 years here. Seriously. The man is literally INSANE. Something happened about 10 years ago with his wife, and he has gone insane. It's actually common knowledge in the CE department. Ask another CE profesor. But yes, not only is he EXTREMELY boring, but he's lectures are often filled with non-sensical garbage. You learn absolutely nothing. And did I mention, that he's insane? So yeah, DO NOT EVER take profesor Lo. Ever.

If you want an to get an A in a class take Lo. His homework is extreemly simple and he grades even easier. His tests are a joke. You have to work pretty hard to NOT get an A in this class. If you never go to class, turn in half the assignments, and show up for the midterm and final, you'll get a B. Lo is the worst and most boring teacher I have ever seen. Don't plan on learning anything. Isn't tenyear great.

Dr. Kurt Lo, known to many students as the "sleeping pill" may be the only known cure for insomnia. If you do manage to keep partially conscious, his completely neurotic behavior and crazy mumblings will make understanding the class completely impossible. Not necessary since opening the book once before taking his open book exam will give you what you need. I hate the tenure system!!!!!

Kurt Kurt Kurt is a really good guy guy guy. He is is is nice. I worked not hard at all in this class, and it sure was an easy A. Take him if you can can can. (But he repeats himself a little little little). Most boring, yet easiest class yet.

Two words: BORING, but easy. You do need to go to class, but not to understand the material--just to understand the assignments. He is really nice and helpdul during his office hours too.

Dr. Lo SUCKS!!!Went to class on average 1 out of 3 times (No Joke), midterm did great, HW is a joke, since you can redo that shit many times. This guys lectures are by far the WORST I've ever had at poly. Nothing is gained, I don't even know what I learned, take him if you want to learn nothing and get by with a very easy B...if i went to lass i couyld have pulled an A.

Dr Lo is an very good professor. His lectures enabled me to understand the material without requiring a textbook. This helped me pass the PE exam at first attempt. The little weenies who complain about his style and thereby can't handle his lectures should go home to mommy.

Avoid Lo at all cost, unless of course you are okay with getting an A without learning shit. He is the absolute worst lecture professor I have ever had. He is a prime example of the problem with the tenure system.

Unorganized lectures, unclear procedures... BUT... He's a very nice guy and he lets you make up homework and midterm problems that you messed up. Take Professor Lo if you NEED to, but I stongly suggest taking another water resources teacher to get a better grasp of the material.

Ok, the biggest advice i can give you is rely upon yourself. You will learn nothing from this guy... You can go to class, but try to follow his work, not his words (which is still a daunting task due to his utter lack of organization)... Overall its a relaxed class and the homework is really easy and he lets you re-do it if you do poorly, so I\'m not going to tell you to avoid him, because if you have to take the class and don\'t mind not learning much, hes fine. The guy knows a lot, but his tests are half mathematical problems, and half short answer questions from the book, but he didn\'t tell us anything about the book questions until a week before the test... Overall if you need the class, just sack up and take him, but if its not urgent try to get someone with a little more structure to the class.

Dr. Lo is certainly an expert in the field of water resources, but this class just felt like a watered down version of ME 341. I normally wouldn\'t complain about an easy A, a generous homework acceptance and redo policy, and little work outside of class, but now that we\'re done with support classes and GE\'s, I feel like I should have learned a lot more, especially since this stuff is going to show up on the PE. If the above is all you want to get out of water, by all means take this class but to me it felt like a waste. He is a nice guy though.

Lo killed any interest I had in water resources. He is boring and difficult to understand but he lets you make up work. If I were you, I would avoid Lo if possible.

It's true. It's not a circus going to class. But if you want to challenge yourself, understand his assignments in full detail. He hands out a modern sewer design CD/book and assignment in his 440 class; it helped me understand in greater detail the software (Hydraflow) I used at my internship. You get much more learning from him in his office hours if you asked good specific questions. It takes alot to tick him off, but if you do, you're basically blackballed for life. He'll remember your face, your name, your social security number.... Just don't do it.

Get over the hard to understand lectures and you will do fine. He is a lot better in his office hours.. ask specific questions and you will have no problem.... If you are a water resources engieering concentration.. by all means do you senior project with Lo... you wont have to do any work and you will get an A... well unless you actually want to learn something.. but what do you think this is.. a university?

I have taken 3 courses with Dr. Lo. 336 (lab), 535, and 533. I enjoyed all of them. Here is the thing with Dr.Lo. His classes are easy to float through if that is your goal. However, he is a very knowledgeable guy who loves water and cares about his students. If you REALLY pay attention to his lectures there is a lot of good information to be learned. You'll get a good grade regardless if you do the work, however, since your there i'd take more advantage of his knowledge. He is really flexible on homework assignments. generally they are easy. His tests are based off the homework.

I can see why they say grad classes are easier than undergrad classes. This class consisted of 1 final (based on homework), 1 group presentation, a few homework sets, a few essays on water management/planning. You\'ll feel like this is a 1 unit course. Soooooo simmmmpooooooooo!!!
