This class was an emotional roller coaster. Some days were fine and lovely and others you came in and knew you were in for a world of hurt. Multiple times, I received emails after midnight saying that I needed to print out and email and have it annotated by the class the next day and that if I did not have it done then I would be dismissed from class. She gives no clear ideas on how to improve, just a grade on most papers and requires readings that she doesn't talk about sometimes. However, other times she will spend the whole two hours on a three page reading. The main point that I got from her class was that there is a right and a wrong way to analyze something and you are wrong if your way is not her way. She does not pick favorites, she picks least favorites and attempts to make an example out of them in front of the class. It was a rough experience.

I feel as though I got a lot out of this class although my grade didn't reflect the amount of time and effort I put into our papers so maybe I didn't get a lot out of it? Prof. Olson was biased towards students who talked (aka annoyed everyone) a lot in class. I liked how she taught the class. Three assignments worth 20% of our grades. You can revise one paper. Other smaller assignments were easy and worth 10 points or something like that. Take her class if you dare.

If you want to succeed in this class write papers on what you think she would find interesting. Not what you find interesting!! If she disagrees with your opinion or finds your topic boring, then she will you give you an average or below average grade. She grades on attendance. She also doesn't use rubrics for grading papers. Class was interesting enough not awful.
