He presents the material clearly and provides helpful in-class worksheets. You don't have to do the homework from the book but it helps. Your grade is made up of two midterms and a final. He replaces your lowest midterm grade with your final grade (only if it is higher than your midterm grades of course). The exams are sort of difficult and much more complex than the examples in class. I never figured out the most effective way to study for his exams. He also gives you points for participating in class through an online program, so you do have to show up to class.

Dude has practice test that are just like the exams. His in-class practice helps a lot too. Just perfect for a GE and highly recommend, but his classes fill up quick.

He is really straightforward and is able to be very clear about the way his tests go. It is a really hard class to get an A in, but if you do well on the bond project you get 10 extra credit points which is super helpful. It's a very interesting class and he clearly cares a lot. He's a funny man who travels a lot and likes to talk about how he gave up making large sums of money to live a modest life and teach college. He also gives you the previous midterms and final to study from which is nice but also not super helpful cause the real thing is almost always harder.

Professor Lindsay is a very knowledgable and interesting teacher. Listening to him talk about his past and how he could of made a ton of money but chose not to is fascinating. Saying that, if you are looking for an easy B or A, I really don't recommend him. His lectures do not help you for the difficulty of his exams. The only way I got a B in this class was because I used other teachers' practice midterms. You must read the textbook and understand everything, but even when you do, expect a lot of surprises on the test. He lets you drop your lowest midterm which is nice, but the final ends up being about 62.5% of your grade if you blow one of the two midterms. Cumulative final is stressful to study for but doable. Lastly, a bond project is what determines the rest of your grade. This is where Mr. Lindsay's biggest flaw of the class was. He throws in minimal knowledge about bonds during the last twenty minutes of class and then pretty much let us off to go invest in bonds. It seemed like most people were lost and weren't sure what to do, and he kept on claiming he gave us a list of approved bond we could invest in, which to this day I still don't know where that list is. A ton of students got disqualified for investing in the wrong thing and it took an effect on my grade. This class was doable and Professor Lindsay wasn't the worst, but I would take a different teacher if you want an organized class structure with a better grading distribution.

Professor Lindsay was awesome. He was a really nice guy and his lectures were always laid back and very low-pressure. His exams are exactly what he tells you, just study the practice midterms he provides and pay attention in class. He doesn't make the concepts complicated at all. Just go to class and study like any other class, easy B.

Professor Lindsay's class was not difficult. I have heard the other professors for macro are a lot harder. No homework, two midterms, a bond project, and a final. The bond project was very easy and he graded it very leniently. His tests were very straightforward, if you opened the book you were pretty much guaranteed a B+. Questions from the practice tests he gave us appeared on the exam, and many of his questions were directly based on lecture notes. I definitely recommend him for Econ 222 or any other Econ class. Very laid back professor, knows his class is a GE and treats it like one.

I loved this class, Bill is an awesome professor who somehow managed to make Economics interesting and really easy. His philosophy is that the textbook is there to help you understand him, not the other way around. Pay attention in class and take good notes and you wont even need to buy the textbook.

Professor Lindsay is kind of a spacey guy but very lovable. He keeps his lectures decently interesting with video clips and pictures from his travels around the world. Your grade is made up of a very easy bond trading project, 2 midterms, and a final. Very easy B, easy A if you go to class and do the minimal reading he assigns. Overall, Lindsay is a good one to take. He is a lot more mellow and fair than a lot of the Econ teachers at Poly, and you will learn what you need to know about macro.

Professor Lindsay is a very laid back and reasonable teacher. He shows an obvious passion for the field of economics, but this can lead to many in-class tangents that do not relate to any material you will be tested on. The tests are very straight forward and the bond project can mostly be seen as a grade boost. In-class notes can often be very sporadic and hard to study from, which led to me attending very few of his lectures. However, an A is still easily attainable. Just make sure to read the chapters he assigns thoroughly, and more importantly, make sure to do and understand all the questions on his posted practice exams. These practice exams will be very similar to the real ones. Overall, Prof. Lindsay is a very nice guy and an above average teacher. Take Prof. Lindsay

Lindsay was the easiest teacher I've ever had. Hs midterm questions were 80% taken from the practice tests he gives and the other 20% of the questions come straight from the back of the chapters in the book. I probably studied an hour for each midterm and got an A on each one. His final was much more difficult but it was still not that hard relative to other Cal Poly classes.

Lindsay had a very easy class, low workload, and fairly easy tests. I would walk into tests being unclear on what we were exactly going to be tested on, but I did well on all of them. If you do well on the final, it wipes out the grade of your lowest midterm and replaces it. Overall, very helpful teacher, not super clear on material, but an overall easy course.

This guy obviously digs economics, he is the most boring lecturer though. Kids fall asleep in his class all the time, a lot of people don't go or leave halfway through. It's literally almost impossible to sit through. There's two midterms and a final, he replaces your lowest midterm grade with your final grade if it's higher than the others. Office hours don't help, when you ask him questions he usually doesn't answer your questions at all. I would recommend going to the free tutoring.

Dr. Lindsay is the best professor I have ever had. He cares so much about teaching and helping students understands basic economics. He writes the notes up on the projector word for word and explains in great detail, very easy to understand. He will answer any questions you have before during or after class. I definitely wish i went into office hours more to just get to know him, he seemed like a really interesting guy outside of his teaching. Tests are completely fair and easy. Take this class please. You will love the zero homework and study load. It takes a few hours of real studying and you will get an A which is 90-100 (he doesn't give A-'s).

When this class first started I loved it and thought how easy it would be (especially since I got 100% on first midterm) but after the first midterm, I got so lost. His lectures are poor and you have to edit your notes as he's giving them because he will go back to things and go out of order. He's one of those professors who are really nice but not great lecturers. His tests and grading is very fair though. It's not bad if you do get him but I would suggest him not to be your first choice.

Honestly Lindsay is a good professor. He knows the material well and is pretty good at explaining all the concepts. I honestly just didn't pay attention in the class all that much. Word of advice, go to all the lectures and take good notes. If you do that and study the night before the midterms and final you will get a good grade.

This class is basically an easy A. His notes are very straight forward and and prepare you for the exams. He gives you previous exams as practice for the midterms and final, and many of the questions in these practice exams appear on the actual tests as well. He also gives a lot of extra credit through Top Hat, and a Bond Project which he grades very generously. He makes Econ interesting too and clearly has tons of experience with it and is a super interesting guy. Highly recommend Professor Lindsay!

I was worried about this class, but ended up getting a high A. Lectures are long and often hard to pay attention to, but Lindsay does his best and wants students to succeed. You get extra credit for attending class and he replaces your worst midterm if you do better on the final. Would definitely recommend.

Lindsay is a great professor. He really knows his stuff and tries his best to make a difficult class fun and easy. He gives no homework, and its soley based on multiple choice exams. Lindsay's a cool guy, really nice personality and very easygoing. He explains things fairly well, and he writes his notes on an ipad that are projected on the board. I think he could go into more detail on his notes--a lot of miscellaneous details he only says and doesn't write down on the board, but you can catch the most important details if you listen. Some of the material was review for me from last year and I was ok with, the rest was stuff I hadn't seen before and it was difficult for me because it was counter intuitive and it didn't come to me as easily; that's just me though, overall I think most people get a B in the class if they read the book and pay attention to lectures and notes. He also does Tophat questions for extra credit, which is really cool. Nice guy, very knowledgeable, he's a guy to go for.

Lindsay's lectures were very clear and interesting when I went, but I just wasn't able to get up early enough for class much of the time. The final is comprehensive and covers the entire quarter but most of the questions were on the material after the second test. Tests are all multiple choice, and Top Hat helps as well as previous exams that he posts. I had econ in high school, so the first half of the class was fairly easy but the material gets harder as the quarter goes on. If you skip class and learn the material from the book, it will take you much much longer, and some of the material he teaches is not in the book. He is not one to teach from the book at all, and doesn't use textbook power points. He doesn't like any of the textbooks and so he teaches it his own way which is probably much better.

This class is quite easy. I've never taken econ before and this class still felt like a breeze. Professor Lindsay is a quite talented instructor; even though I had this class twice a week at 8am, he always managed to break through my drowsiness so I still understood the concepts discussed. He assigned daily readings and homework, but never checked it. I never did any of it, because his lectures were so clear that I always felt thoroughly prepared without the textbook. There were two midterms and a final, but no other grades. Highly recommend.

After barely surviving a horrific ECON 221 prof, I had low expectations for ECON 222, but I was pleasantly surprised. Lindsay's class was extremely straightforward, and his exams were a breeze. We had two midterms and one final and extra credit. If you showed up to class and answered 90% of the tophat questions, he gave you 6 extra credit points! He also would replace a midterm grade with that of the final if you did better on the final than on a midterm. His lectures could be boring at time, but he broke down macro to be very comprehensive and digestible. He would often let class out early too which was a huge plus! Really nice guy. Made Econ a breeze, and I feel that I understand macro 1000 times more than I do micro. Totally recommend!!!

Lindsay gives you very helpful practice tests for each midterm and the final. The final is cumulative, but has a lot of questions from the practice tests. I took this class from 6-8 so it was very difficult to pay attention and learn, but Lindsay is super funny and makes econ interesting. However, learning from him only will not get you a good grade... you have to go to the tutoring or review TopHat. I rented the textbook and never opened it one time.

Professor Lindsay is very knowledgeable about the topics we learn and is super friendly but don't expect him to get to know you on a personal level. The class is very big and the topics are very fast paced so you move fast and don't have a lot of time to stop and get individualized help. The class uses TopHat for extra credit, which costs like $25 but is super easy to use and is super worth it. Also, the homework/reading assignments are optional so the textbook is not necessary.

TAKE LINDSAY. Optional Homework and reading (I never did any of it) and your grade is composed of two midterms and a final, equally weighted. This was my favorite class last quarter. I thought it was going to be miserable taking econ but it turned out to be just the opposite. There is a lot of material presented but its broken down and explained well. I didn't do the reading until the night before the tests but I still did fine. My favorite professor of my first quarter! Macroeconomics is not really a fun topic, but Lindsay uses a combination of his own great teaching skills, fun and stimulating tophat questions, and handouts to really make the class as not boring as it can be. He has a really reasonable grading policy and office hours really helps you. Still there are some trick questions on the tests and its important to really make sure you understand the material as best as you can so that you don't fall for any of them.

Professor Lindsay made econ an enjoyable class and even though the concepts are abstract and confusing at times, they are applicable to real life. I left the class knowing more about how the economy works than I did before. You can tell that he is very passionate about this subject and wants to share that with other students. Homework is optional and your grade will comprise entirely two midterms and a final, and there is opportunity for extra credit. Overall, I would recommend this class as long as you pay attention, go to class, and study.

Lots of group homework and presentations. A random group is selected on the morning when the homework is due to present their answers to the class. You don't know when you will have to present and your group could present every time if you are unlucky with the throw of the die which isn't fair. Lectures were well organized and easy to follow. Economic events are intertwined very well into lectures. Lindsay would be a really interesting person to get to know over a beer!
