Jud is a pretty entertaining professor but a seriously hard grader. He made transportation engineering very interesting. The class notes Jud provides are easy to study from- all the bolds- but study hard! B's are easy to get but A's take a miracle.

Eugene Jud is a good professor, only he is hard on you when it comes time to grading if you have not been active & enthusiastic throughout the quarter. Take a good attitude to the class and you will come out on top

Unless transportation enineering is your calling be prepared for a real headache. Prof Jud's class has a lot of tedious busy work that serves no real learning purpose. He also weighs class participation very heavily in your grade. He covers the subject very thoroughly but if you can score copies of old tests you are in. He does not change them very much. If you do take him you do not have to buy any of the books. This is pretty nice since there are 3 texts that are normally required.

Dr. Jud is an awesome teacher. He has a really clear and funny way of describing Transportation Engineering and is in fact a professional Tr. Engineer (he has a firm in Switzerland) so he knows what he's talking about. Not only that he actually practices what he preaches, (I see him riding his bike to school almost everyday) that's pretty refreshing for a professor. His quizes aren't very hard to study for: just study all the words in Capital letters and all the pictures that are in his Lecture notes.

The quizes covered a lot of information. Your highest grade is decided before the final because every point earned or missed is one percent of your grade in the class. The final is the only time you can use a sheet of notes. Jud is very knowledgable and a good lecturer.

Jud is an alright teacher, but he grades to hard. There is only 100 total points in the class, so if you mess up on more than one quiz you have no chance for a A. Watch out for his final, its worth 40 % of your grade and the questions he puts on it seem to have nothing to do with the class. I had one of the highest A's going into the final, but I got a B in the class. He made one question on the final worth 10 points (ie 10 % of your grade in the class). This question was this horrible photo copied picture which you were suppose to tell him 8 things that were wronge in the picture. The problem was the picture was so bad that you could not tell what was going wronge, thus I could not explain what was going on in the picture, thus I got a B in the class. Aviod this teacher, his fruity

He is an interesting man with more experience in his field than anyone. He knows everything there is to know about transportation. Keeps you interested by doing funny little things like walking on his hands which is cool because he is probably 60 years old. He also has a funny accent. It is difficult to get an A, but B's are not hard and he has completely sparked my interest in transportation. One of the best teachers I have ever taken. The lab is a lot of work but way worth it.

Nice guy, but a little hard of hearing. Here is some tips for his class. He gives you the lecture notes so there is really no need to go to class. There are participation points includeing homework checks and an attendance check. A lot of people go every day just to get these measly points. Just do the larger out of class projects! They will replace the in class points and you will still get 100% participation. The only time you really need to be in class is for the 3 quizes.

Professor Jud's class is'nt very interesting, especially at 8am. The notes are the entire class lectures written out, so just remember everything that says 'important', or is capatilized. However, Jud's grading system is weird. I did 54 points of his projects, and was only given credit for 30 points. You'd think he would give you extra credit for the effort, especially to compensate for the quizzes, each worth 10 percent of your class grade.

Prof Jud is a cute little man who tries very hard to involve the class in his lectures. He uses funny props and cutes stories, but the lectures are still so boring. All you need to do is get your minimum participation points (30, nothing over that counts)and attend class on quiz days. The lecture outline you buy is what he lectures on, and the quizzes never contained anything more than what was either in capital letters or diagrams which said "very important" by them. I barely studied and received an easy B, with a little bit of effort an A is definately attainable.

Okay, this is a stupid and easy class. Jud just grades too hard and expects us to be interested in traffic jams and crap. Being from europe, he thinks that cars are the devil, he needs to realize that he will never make California into Swizerland, and stop telling us to put in public transit and start telling us to widen roads. The "Participation Points" suck ass also. We are expected to acctually go to city hall meetings and shit just cause some guy is going to talk about busses. If you acctually like traffic and want to go out and do stupid shit for participation points, this is your guy. However, slip up on participation points, and sleep for the class everyday like me :) and you will get a D. Take an American.

Mr. Jud, not doctor, is about the most friendly professor that you are going to meet. He is a small professor from Zurich where he is the head of his own transportation firm. If that's not a resume then I don't know what is. He teaches the subject well. He may have some cornball examples that he uses, but they are all easily understandable. There is no textbook, all you have to buy are the notes that pre-makes. So you don't have to take notes just highlight. It's a really easy class and fun too.

Good teacher. well a teacher who likes, well no LOVES his topic of traffic engineering but honestly, no one else does. Well if you do then cool you'll click w. this guy cuz he's a nice guy and he does everything he can to make you enjoy the wonders of traffic engineering but honestly, I never knew CE was this boring and because of it I'm going to change my major. Not to say that this'll happen to everone else, but jus the fact that it showed me what kinda life I could be leading. so i thank JUD because of him opening me up to what CE is really about. Good teacher, but it's not a lecture, it's a highliting class!!!

jud is a gooy little old man who has an annoying accent. the class is easy. no book-you buy lecture notes. 30% of your grade is participation of which you get to choose. choose the ones that are worth 10% each so you only have to do a couple of things to get your credit, also, you can get no more than 30, so dont bother doing anything extra. dont go to class except for the days of the quizzes. for the quizes, study only what is underlined or in bold. thats it. its really an easy class overall.

Professor Jud is a little guy from Switzerland who likes to hold morning classes. I admit transportation engineering is a little tedious at times, but I really liked this class most of the time. (This should be a city and regional planning course, not a civil engineering course.) This class is based more on participation than most classes I have taken, so make an effort to show up on time and at least act somewhat interested in the topic. The examples he uses can be odd at times and the things he passes around can distract from the lecture, but just follow along in the course notes and you shouldn't have any trouble on the tests. The quizzes are a little picky, so check the details (underlined and/or in bold in the class notes) before the test. The lowest grade of the three quizzes is dropped when he does final grading. The final was harder than I expected, so be sure to study for it. Jud is a nice guy who cares about his students, as long as they care about his class.

I took Dr. Jud for CE 221 and he was awesome. But be warned for 222 he is exceptionally harder than all the other teachers. He has group members right up professional reports that he mercilessly grades. He does make you work for your grade, but I admit, I learned a lot more than I ever would have from El-Ghandour or any other teacher. If you're willing to work hard and want to learn, take this class.

The wierd little switzerland who cares only about putting a light rail in any town possible, cars are the root of all evil, and needs to realize that NO ONE wants to ride the bus! Otherwise intersting class, easy grade with little work.

To say Jud is passionate about transportation is an understatement. He is so passionate that he tries to convince everyone else that his way is the true way. The sign of a true engineer. Sure, he grades hard, but the class is not difficult. CE 221 wasn't difficult either. He structures both classes the same way and there is no way you can't get 100% on participation points unless you dick around like the rest of the people who wrote reviews and didn't get an A. He's smart, but he has trouble articulating what he really wants to say. If you talk to him at office hours, you'll understand what he mean. Take Jud for whatever you can in Transportation, because the Car is not the only idea for tranportation out there.

Eugene is a funny guy to listen to. The class is kind of easy, low stress. Though, I've heard he can be harder in other classes. I had no problems with him though, and I would take him again.

This litle guy loves to talk, but does not listen. You raise your hand he helps you lower it. You dont do much, its an easy class, a few quizes on his opinion, and a trip to SB. Take this class if you want an A, but if you actually have an opinion- shut up and just listen. Oh and remember that no matter how lazy those CRP students are they are still better then you, just ask jud. trains good- cars bad

This class was really interesting. I had to fight hard, being that I am not a CE major to get in. The class is relatively easy and Jud is amazing. He really loves what he is teaching and wants you to learn as well. Just go into the class knowing that it in't typical- gasp, he asks you draw pictures of intersections and train stations during the feild trips. You have to take what you want out of the course- he knows his stuff and has a lot of references if you are truly interested in the subject. Take this class if you are willing to come into the class with a open mind, you might be surpised what you find.

FALL 2012 REVIEW. I was hesitant in taking this class while many of the other students were Graduate students. But oh well, glad I stuck with it...because it was a nice change of pace. People bag on this class and his teaching style in this class saying he "hands it over to students to teach each other" by giving a "Participation" heavy syllabus. But it was fine by me. It was easy to get the points, and the 'homework' and public transportation research was a nice change of pace. NOW THE HECTICness came from the PROJECT. It was nice to be a part of, but it really was not as organized as it could have been and it felt a little rushed and choked in terms of not having as much creativity and freedom as we thought we could have. Regardless, TESTS were easy, just memorize and read your notes of powerpoints and your fellow classmates' presentations. PROJECT takes time and its best to have GIS, CAD, Report Writers in your group. Jud is an extremely nice professor, and you can't have anything but respect for the man. I don't know if this was his last quarter, but he spoke of retirement. If it is...then hopefully 424 will take a page out of Jud's book, but also evolve into something greater with what he has started!
