Smith, Erling  

Dr. Smith is definitely a cool guy, and he is obviously a genius, but he was not prepared to teach this class. Nobody seemed to understand what he was doing during lectures, and I ended up teaching myself, or having friends teach me everything outside of class. He is a really easy grader which is nice for your grade, but I know I am screwed for the next structures class because our class was ill-prepared for the final (common final). We didn't even cover one of the problems that was on it during class. His labs were rarely well thought through as some took 30 min to and hour, and others took well over an extra hour or two of work outside of the 2 hour lab. He often runs late and seems out of control/overwhelmed a lot. He also seems rather arrogant on occasion. I don't recommend Dr. Smith, but this was his first time teaching this course (and his first time teaching in 10+ years) so maybe he'll be better prepared next time.
