I had Iannce for lab and Friedman for lecture. I am not a stupid person, but I did terribly in this class because Iannce never went over what he needed to go over. He grades hard on homework and is totally boring in class. Don't take him if you can avoid it.

Iannce's an interesting guy. Mostly he's strict. Leave an extra 10 minutes early for class, he took to locking the door when the room clolk read 9 after...regradless of its accuracy. Technical drawing's not fun. Lab assignments are worth 20 points and they're graded such that losing more than 20 points for one assignment would be possible. He always helped me out if I got stuck, showed me a couple tricks to save time and maintain accuracy in my work. If you work hard and try, he notices and will be a lot nicer to you.

Hmmmm, what to say about Iannce. First off, he tells us the first day of class that he doesn't teach, we teach ourselves. He referrs to himself as a "learning facilitator," which is actually a generous title for what he really is. The first half of the class is easy, but things get harder, and he assigns homework problems that he didn't explain in class. If by chance he did go over them, it was a poor analysis and no one understood anyway. Whenever I asked him a question, he made me feel like a complete idiot. My reccomendation is to find a group of people to study with. The class is very interesting, just bear with the teacher. I actually learned a lot (by reading the book and working with peers). "Learning facilitator???" Thanks for nothing ya Jerk.

This guy redifines the meaning of the word "jackass." He doesn't teach at all. If you value getting a good education, don't take him. I hope you're reading this Iancce, cause you suck.

well Iannce seems to enjoy taking as many points off assignments as possible. Like mentioned early negative scores are possible. I had more homework in this 2 unit class than any of my 4 unit classes did. He does not seem to be into teaching this class. One of my favorite days of the quarter was when the power went out during his class and we got to leave. Well anyway prepare to have a fun class with Iannce, I sure did!

Iannce is hard. There is no way around that, but you will learn more from him than anyone else because instead of just answering a question, he will walk the student through how to get the answer. This is not the teacher for people who just want to memorize and move on. He will make you learn and understand. BEWARE! Keep up the good work Iannce!

Yes the previous reviewer who mentioned the "learning facilitator" story is absolutely correct. He seems to misunderstand that his job is actually to present the material and "teach", as strange as it may seem. He enjoys making people uncomfortable, and thinks that by humiliating students they will want to try harder. He makes an uninteresting subject even worse, and although it is a relatively straight-foward class, the workload is tremendous for 2 lousy units. The best thing is to just play by his needlessly strict rules, and hope you get someone else for the lab section.

Even though he's retiring I still feel the public should have a right to know what crimes against humanity have occured here on our very own campus. The subject matter is lame enough with out the condescending commentary from the peanut gallary, a.a prick, aka Iannce. He doesn't teach anything, yet expects miracles. Unless you're God's gift to drafting, don't expect an A. The homework load was more than that of 4 unit classes I took and it's only a 2 unit class. Thank God for the quarter system because a semester could result in suicidal tendencies...

Profesor Iannce is one of those teachers that if you ask him a question, he will answer you with another question. ME 151 is mainly a freshman class (besides transfer students) and the Lab and Lecture problems and homework he assgins involve the knowledge of advanced physics and calculus. I had a really hard time following along. I kept trying to ask the transfer studnets around me for help since they had somewhat of an idea on what was going on since they had taken some hard classes already. I understand why he would give us problems like that but not for a class like that. ME 151 is a drafting class, not any kind of other class. He would only go over the drawings in class (which was only samewhat clear the whole time) and NEVER explained anything on how to the harder problems!! Plus the final had questions that had nothing to do with the class in a lot of cases. He put stuff on it that he only say once in class and never really emhasized! It shouldn't be a guessing game on what would be on the final....

Iannce didn't really seem motivated in his lectures at all. He often made students feel like complete idiots just for a giddy thrill. He also seems to get a rise out of students who think he is an asshole. If you take ME 151 with no prior drafting skills, this course will be TOUGH. I didn't take drafting in HS and I struggled through this one. The first two weeks of the course are really easy. But after the add/drop period, things get insanely difficult. Watch out for lab 3 and make sure that you finish all your labs. A study group is the best alternative to Iannce's crappy teaching style. Find preople who know the stuff and learn from them. Another thing I hated about this instructor is that he stood dead on in front of the overhead. No one could see a damn thing he was presenting during lab or lecture. I hated every minute with this guy and I felt like he was trying to weed kids out of the program. If you decided to take him, it will be ten weeks of hell. I also agree with the "learning facilitator" rating that was submitted earlier. What a freakin' jerk.

This guy epitimizes the word "asshole." This "asshole" could care less about how well you do in the class and doesn't teach shit. The first day of class you will probably hear from him, "I am not hear to teach you. You will teach yourselves throughout this class. I am here rather to facilitate your learning." What a load of crap. This guy should be fired and put in jail for taking our money. Do not get this instructor at all costs. You will have a hell of a time doing homework since he doesn't teach you anything. Oh yeah, he's the hardest grader I've ever had. Have fun. Oh yeah, I hope you read this Iannce.

Whatever you do...do not take this teacher! He is not there to teach you anything. I think he likes his students to struggle so he can feel smarter than them. I had taken drafting classes in high school and that is probably the only reason I passed the class. The final is also kind of tricky because he didn't give any quizzes or previous tests to prepare you. Just pray and hope that luck is with you if you get stuck in his class.

Thank god he's gone, but if he ever comes back, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TAKE HIM FOR A CLASS!!! He was a terrible professor who emphasized making his class as boring as possible. By far the worst ME professor on the campus, he made me think twice about the major I selected. Take someone else...McFarland is awesome if he's teaching this class.

this professor should not even be allowed to teach here. everyday during class he would wish for the chalk dust to poison him so he could retire, he never taught anything out of the book or related to the class. his first lab he rushed trough the introduction losing all students so basically you could not do the lab since you did not even know the assignment. ohh and dont be late to class he locks the doors so you can come in when you are late. basically he thinks you are in highschool again he is a bitch.DO NOT TAKE HIM AND TO THE DEPARTMENT HEADS FIRE HIM PLEASE

At the beginning of the he'll probably assign you to a study group, you'd be wise to use it. Homework is collected but it's necessary to do the work in order to grasp the concepts anyway, so you should do it. Weekly 1-question quizes, real simple, just review the notes from the previous lecture. Makes errors often while doing problems on the board. He does make jokes often at the expense of students, but it's not too bad - I've been on the recieving end, too. Tests are straight forward, no trick problems. Personally, I think he's easier to get along with than the other reviewers and I'd be willing to take him again without hesitation.

DO NOT TAKE IANNCE! He doesn't like to answer questions, and unlike professors who give partial credit for doing something right, he took away points from me on both exams because I didn't do the problem "HIS WAY" even though I followed the proper steps and got the right answers. I think he was just sore cause I didn't do the homework and I could still do well on his tests. Take a different professor or wait another quarter or two until you can get a class from another professor. Don't take the chance on a bad class with Iannce.

Iannce is one of the most condescending professors I have ever had. He is totally rude, and was about as unhelpful as he could be in office hours. He seemed uninspired, and didn't really put much effort into his lectures. Avoid if at all possible.

Iannce was quick to belittle people in order to get a laugh. He was intimidating in office hours as well. On the occassion that I would ask questions, he would make me feel totally stupid. On top of this, he really couldn't teach worth a damn. Watch him, he will make numerous mistakes when lecturing. If you really want to learn in an encouraging environment, you shouldn't take him.

Iannce can be a decent teacher. Don't get intimidated by him, he may give you a really hard time when you ask questions, but if you're persistent he will help you. He's a tuff guy to deal with in general, and if you're not up for a challenge don't take him. There's a lot of better teachers out there that are more willing to help out.
