I had Prof. Lancaster (you can call her Megan) freshmen fall quarter. I loved her, she was so nice and funny. One time, our class was being immature and passing notes around and she didn't even care and ended up laughing about it. Another time, she asked us for the class section number (which was 69) and she laughed when someone told her it was 69 hahaha. Work load is not much at all. Your grade is based off a percentage of 400 points: 3 4-6 page papers (1 is the final) which are each 100 points (and revisable, except for the final) and 4 1-2 page papers. The topics are really easy to write about. No tests. Those are the only graded assignments. You don't really have to do the reading because all you do is discuss it. No quizzes/tests. I definitely recommend Lancaster; she is very approachable and conversational and friendly. The grading is pretty not harsh at all; as long as you meet the requirements, you're fine. The only reason I got a B was because I used only 2 sources when we were supposed to use 4 so I got a 65% on that paper. TAKE LANCASTER THOUGH SHE IS AWESOME

Megan was seriously the coolest teacher. She's really young and awesome! The class itself is pretty darn easy. A few large papers, but you can revise all of them AS MANY TIMES AS YOU WANT (1 per week). That being said, you really shouldn't not get an A in this class (I was dumb, it was my first quarter and I was distracted). Lots of group work in class, but really no homework (aside from reading, which you don't have to really do because there are no reading quizzes or anything). She's totally knowledgeable, approachable, and sweet. TAKE LANCASTER! You will not regret it.

My first impression of Megan was easy going and overall a nice lady. I visited her at office hours when I had difficulty revising an essay. It took me hours to revise it and turns out she didn't add any points because I didn't highlight my changes. Sorry... I didn't know if I wrote the entire thing over I would have to highlight the entire essay. She's a strict grader just make sure you do everything she says when revising a paper. I probably could've gotten a B in her class if she had accepted my revision but other than that the class was pretty easy. Megan is definitely a good teacher just make sure you do as she says and show up to class because it was actually pretty enjoyable.

Out of all the English teachers that I've ever had, Lancaster is by far my favorite. She's super nice, funny, and relatable. She has a really sarcastic and not in-your-face type of humor that I really appreciated and she always used it to make class interesting. In addition to her great personality, she also ran class in a good way. Attendance was pretty much mandatory (you were allowed to miss 2 classes and after that, you would lose 1/3 of a letter grade for each subsequent absence), but class would usually fly by quickly. Most of class time is spent doing group work - literally almost every single class you will do an exercise in an assigned group that practices the general concept she is teaching for the day. The daily classwork isn't worth any points though, but are generally considered as participation. The only "homework" that there ever is is just reading, but it isn't really necessary to do all the time since we just talk about it in class the next day. All the points from the class come from 4 papers, 1 bibliography, 1 short presentation, and the final presentation. The first two papers are worth 25 pts. each and the second 2 are worth 200 pts. each, but all papers but the last are revisable for a completely new grade! I never went to her office hours, but I did feel like her comments on my original papers helped me write better revisions. Overall, Lancaster has a fantastic personality in that she is super nice, understanding, funny, and interesting, but she is also a very fair grader (I felt I deserved all the grades I received). I would definitely recommend Lancaster!

Megan is a really good English Professor. She has a nice personality and during class time, nothing is really "graded" but rather just serves as attendance. Class time is spent on group work or discussions. The previous review really nailed everything I wanted to say, but I do differ on one point, grading. She is a bit of a tough grader in on the essays, but I guess it kind of is a pay off for having no homework besides the papers. Note, a previous reviewer says you can revise your papers as often as you want, that is completely false, you can only revise once. Take the class and turn in your essays with that in mind.

She is awesome because she explains what she wants in assignments really well and then grades based on the criteria she gives you in class. She almost always lets you out early and replies to e-mails quickly and answers your questions well.

Megan is a great teacher. She is super nice and makes the class interesting (which was great for me because I had her at 7:00am). She is very helpful in office hours and like previous reviews have stated, responds to emails quickly. She is a fair grader and in general is a fun person to have a conversation with. Now guys listen up. She is the hottest teacher I have had at Cal Poly. Trust me. She is a total babe. Strongly recommend that you take her.

Megan is such a cool teacher. He classes are really easy and entertaining. You think the class will be an easy A until you get your first essay back and realize that she is a very hard grader. She does allow you to revise essays which is very helpful.

Very straight forward professor! Much less work then most of the other 149 professors from what I have heard. She definitely is a tough grader on essays, though. Even if it's a morning class, take her. The morning class will be well worth the countless hours saved from extraneous assignments in other 149 classes.

What the guy/gal below said. Amen. I too took this class and have long since graduated from Poly, but I was cruising Poly Ratings for a kick and thought that I should pipe in and let you know how much of a joke this prof is.
