There was a lot of reading for this class. The two tests and the final had multiple choice and then a couple mini-essays. The class was really interesting and worthwhile. The grade for the class is based on the tests only. The only homework is reading.

Hudson loves what she teaches and it shows. The class was probably one of the few classes that I could actually stay awake in. She knows so much information and she presents it to you in a way that anyone could understand it. The tests aren't hard if you study and do the reading. It is important to go to class. There is sort of a lot of reading, as there is with any history class, but the books were interesting and easy to understand. I really recomment Hudson. If you are trying to decide between 202 and 204, take 202 because you also get your USCP out of the way without taking another course like ethnic studies.

She was a great teacher. Her voice is loud and powerful. I'm a sleeper in most of my classes... once awhile i still lay my head down in her class, but usually i wake again when she gets to concepts where it's interesting. Because when she lectures, she ask questions that are mind-playing, then answers them. The books involve a history almanac type of boring stuff and other autobiographies which are interesting. I only skim through the almanac type of book because it's so boring. She wants you to compare recorded historical articles versus autobiographies about what they say. I say just skim through the articles, read the autobiographies and go have fun listening in class. Most of what you'll learn will be listening in class. By the time you come out of the course, you'll have FAR so much knowledge than before... but, i forgot a lot of juicy stuff already, hehe. Well, at least i felt smart for awhile.

One of the bests teachers i've had so far here at poly. I really enjoyed her class, even though most of the material I already knew from my high school American History class. But the way she has her lectures, she talks about alot of what really is interesting and matters about history.

I feel privilaged to be able to have had Dr. Hudson my first year. She's an exciting teacher, and humorous, thus making lectures interesting. There's no beating around the bush with her, it's straight to the point. But y ou HAVE TO pay attention and take good notes. She makes you feel important, even in a class of 100 students. I was amazed at the amount of attention she paid to myself and a couple of students in our hall. She knew ours names and always knew if we were in class - she's quick. Her tests are so easy that they're hard. Usually, 2 mini-essays (1 or 2 paragrahs each), multiple choice or you can opt for essay instead of mutiple choice. Don't think someone else's tests will help you, she likes to write tests, and I'm sure she'll write a bunch of them, different every time just for kicks.

Dr. Hudson is by FAR the best lecturer i have ever had. She is able to explain things so clearly and keep the class interesting. The midterms and final arent too bad just as long as you take decent notes. She is definitely a teacher that you should try to take. If i needed another class that she would be available as the teacher, i would definitely take her.

Dr. Hudson is a great professor, she knows all of her material very well. In the class you have to read 3 autobiographies, and articles and that is the homework. But then the thing about this class is, there is NO BOOK. The history book is her( you need to take good notes), and you have to pay attention in class and understand everything that she is saying - and if you don't then you are lets just say screwed. And you have to go to every class no matter what because each class is two hours long and she covers so much information in one class meeting. The tests are multiple choice, and short answer. But then this quarter she gave our class the option of essay on the second midterm and it helped some people. So there are 40 MC questions and mini essay which she called two paragraphs or one long one. In this class you really have to stay on the ball and keep up with the readings and do all of them because if you don't then you are lost in what she is talking about. Overall, this is a great class and a great teacher to take it with. If you have to choose between 202 or 204 take 202 if you have the option because you get the USCP out of the way.

Hudson was one of the best teachers I've ever had. She makes the information so interesting and real. For Hist 202, there's no textbook, just a bunch of really good books. The only drag is you have to go to class everyday if you don't want to miss out on the lecture (since you cant just study the book). But I went most of the time, read the books, and didn't ever study and I got a B+. And she lets you pick between essay and MC on tests. Hudson is AWESOME!!!

Awesome professor. Very friendly and approachable. I learned more from Dr. Hudson than I did all the other professors COMBINED. She's full of energy from the start to the beginning. I wish there were more time for our class so I could learn even more from her. There were 2 midterms, a term paper and a final. They were all from the readings and lectures, nothing unexpected. Oh yeah, she's pretty easy on the grading. Take her whenever you can, people. She's great! She learned all the names in her class by the first week or so to keep everyone involved, and I love that about her.

Hudson really was NOT that great of a professor. She talks waaaaay to fast and is very arrogant. She assigns a SHITLOAD of reading. I do have to say that the subject matter of this class is very interesting and I learned a lot, but for god's sake, lady, this was a GE, not a major class. She is an EXTREMELY hard and picky grader and her midterms are not designed to fit into just a 2 hour period. If you don't analyze the readings in the way she wants to hear it then don't bother analyzing them at all. I went to her office hours and she seemed like she was more willing to help out there, but not much more. I would really suggest trying not to take her, unless you would like to work your ass off, but if you end up with her it's bearable.

Histroy is not the most interesting topic for an Econ major, but Hudson made it an enjoyable experience. the lectures are long but she keeps you awake with her enthusiasm.

Dr. Hudson was rad. I highly reccommend taking her. She allows students to present their ideas in class unimpeded and makes everyone feel that their perspectives are equally as important as her own. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!

Excellent professor, and so lively, that her abundance of energy seems to feeds off onto the student. Two shorts papers, and final paper about 10 pages. No sweat take her if you can

Whoa, I hope you like to read because you do a shit load of it. You read six books. There is two short essays, and one large essay. The class is slightly difficult, but Dr. Hudson makes you feel comfortable and makes the subject seem easy to graps. Take Hudson if you can, the class s easier than I have made it out to be, quite simply I'm just a lazy shit.

The lovely Professor Hudson is a radical sensation of full historical knowledge and every day practicality. She recognizes the existance of being a student and in that she humorously rattles of small statements to lighten the mood during her lecture. As well, she is brilliant in her subject and when aloud to begin her philosophical rants on any historical individual or topic, succesfully wows her class and brings light to a dark subject. I hope she'll return on occasion for me to take another wonderful historical course from this real, edgy, and friendly person.

Dr. Hudson is the best teacher ever! She seems to know everything (give her a topic and she can rattle off books and authors off the top of her head)! I learned so much from Dr. Hudson, I had her for two classes and am currently taking another from her this quarter. If you need help she is always available for help. I totally recommend taking any course with Dr. Hudson!!

Wow what can i say, hudson's class had fallen short of my hopes. She's not chill and she assigns alot of reading (which will be the least of your problems). Most of the class period you will watch the clock slowly tick, hopefully she wont see you watching the clock or she'll miser your grade. Not fun and too much rubbish about femism, she seriously spends most of the last half of the quarter trying to tie the feminist mvt. with the black power mvt. Good luck, i can see sometimes it makes sense but we have not gone over real subjects of African American history cuase she loves to talk and hear about the ladies.

Prof. Hudson was one of the best professors I've had at Cal Poly. In fact, I enjoyed Hist. 332 so much I immediately enrolled for Hist. 333. Her enthusiasm for the subject (I swear she has three triple espressos before each class)is contagious and thus discussions are lively. I'm not a history major but I always felt that my contributions and questions were welcome. She does spend a lot of time on women's role in the Civil Rights Movement, but I never felt it was to the neglect of other relevant topics. Any class she teaches is well worth it.

Dr. Hudson is one of the most intelligent and interesting people I've ever met. She is very enthusiastic about History and can make any topic interesting....take it from somebody who HATES the subject. Oh yeah, and she's funny too!

This course was absolutely amazing. Hudson's enthusiasm about and knowledge of the material was astounding. I felt comfortable talking to her not only about the subject matter, but also any other issues I needed help with. She can spark interest in even the most uninvolved student. She definitely has a strength in teaching women's studies.

One of the best professors I have had thus far!! She is a dynamic lecturer and knows her stuff. She keeps her students involved and you actually want to go to class. As for the tests they are challenging, but you walk away from the class with a lot of knowledge.. She always had time to help me out durning her office hour.
