Somehow, I ended up passing this class, despite the absolutely impossible midterm and Kendi's unorganized and unpredictable manor. This was by far the WORST class I have ever taken. She is a complete mess and nobody ever has a clue to what is going on. She is completely unprofessional and overly demanding. Travel and tourism is not rocket science, there is no reason for the class to be this difficult. If you have the ability to avoid this professor altogether, DO IT.

Beware of this course. It begins very easy and progressively seems more useless... Until your first exam and project. Her exam was described as easy, but spend a full week in advance preparing and studying (even the book's author was on the first test!) The first exam also had other obscure questions like who invented color (Sir Isaac Newton). So study everything from the obvious to the pointless. The first project was a 30+ hour affair. Everyone spent over $60 dollars on the project and were graded unfairly. I'd advice spending nothing and using scrapes and handwriting for the StoryBoard. You'll be graded almost the same as students who spend up to $80 dollars and not be as angry as I. The city assignment is a breeze, don't spend too much time on it! Make it look pretty. STUDY STUDY STUDY for the exams from her SLIDES. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! It's a waste of your money. I advice note cards and study partners!

I don't know why these ratings are so low because Kendi is an awesome instructor and an ever better mentor. Don't be one of those kids who sits in the back of the class and never says anything... Raise your hand, participate, and care about your education (because Kendi does too!). Introduce yourself and be professional; there are lots of important guest speakers from the field and possible job opportunities. Kendi knows a lot of people in the industry and will help you get a job, internship, or whatever you need to get your foot in the door. She can be a little disorganized at times, but she is willing to work with students and will go out of her way to help you if you ask. The Storyboard assignment is an awesome creative project, but don't wait until the last minute to start. Also, no need to spend a lot of money on it (be creative, thats the point). The City Project is less exciting, but you can make it very worthwhile by personally contacting city event planners and such. Keep all your project too - you may use them in the future. I've taken Kendi for 317, 420, and 320 and will be taking her again next quarter. Make friends with Kendi and I promise, your experience as a Rec student will be amazing.
