Adrienne's lectures were both interesting and clear. Her tests weren't extremely difficult, but were dominated by long answer and short answer questions. I didn't find her the most approachable, but then again I wasn't the most involved in the class. For most, this class will be an easy A, and quite a breeze.

Greve clearly has a passion for environmental planning and it shows through in her lectures. While the material might not interest all students she works to engage the class and it comes through. The class moves quickly and has a lot of readings (although you need not do them to get an A in the class... skimming is your best friend...) but it is made up for in the last few weeks of the quarter when Greve lets her students pick subjects and makes the last few lectures based upon those choices. As to grading, the class is based mostly on 5 assignments (45%, 4 that are 10% and one worth 15%) that are essay oriented, a midterm and final (40%, 20% each), and a participation section (5%). You will do fine on the assignments as long as you cite at least 1-2 sources each and answer the questions in relative detail. The exams are somewhat tricky as they are mostly short and long answer questions, but are lecture driven and you should be able to get an A or B if you show up to class, pay attention, and review her powerpoints before. Participation is mostly a matter of showing up to class, although she reserves the right to give out "pop quizzes" if she feels like the class has not been showing up or paying attention, but those are rare and nothing to worry about. If you find yourself struggling, I know several students who went into office hours to discuss assignment scores and ended up getting a grade boost after discussing it with her and there is a bit of extra credit offered on the last assignment. Overall I loved taking Greve and would take her again!

Professor Greve has a ton of experience with environmental and climate planning (I took both CRP 336 and CRP 440, Env. Planning and Climate Action Planning with her). Her technical knowledge is quite evident, and she is a rather effective teacher. She is clearly a staunch liberal, which comes out in her lectures, but as a liberal it didn't bother me too much. She has a habit of repeating herself and going on semi-related tangents, which are informative but take a *lot* of time when there is so much to cover. She is quite nice and reasonable, fair grader, gives you a lot of room to work on your grades with different assignments and tests. She takes a fair bit of time to grade, but otherwise I very much enjoyed both classes with her and I like her a lot overall as a professor. If you are engaged and want to learn, she will notice and appreciate it.

Adrienne really knows her stuff. She is so smart, but extremely humble about it. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the classes I have taken of hers.

Received an A-. One of the smartest professors I have ever met and has many life stories to back up her experience. I wish she was nominated to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, she is that good! This class is amazing 4 field trips to locations: 1 in Avila Beach, and 3 in San Luis Obispo. A hard CEQA Exam in the middle of the that gets curved towards the end of the quarter, however, study like your life depend on it. You must understand GIS to take this course the more fluent you are in GIS the faster you can complete your lab work. Try to work ahead of class and check what is going to be done that day so you familiarize yourself, so rather than new topic it is just a review. P.S. On all four field trips I rode my bike, but in total got like a good 30 miles of cycling just for this class!

Positives: 1. Knowledgeable in scientific/technical aspects of planning 2. Strong technical writer Negatives: 1. Adrienne may or may not realize how much her tone comes off to the class as ranting/aggressive and how much class time she takes doing so, which can be particularly frustrating. 2. Adrienne can also be particularly microagressive and unapproachable on a personal level. In a passive aggressive and sometimes directly aggressive ways, she makes it clear whom she thinks is "a problem", and puts these students in a box and allows her prejudice to take over regardless of circumstance or other evidence that would prove that a student is actually not as bad as she thinks (or bad at all). She has also makes microaggressive cultural comments which she herself may not even realize. This side Adrienne demonstrates is quite ironic because she has lectured the class multiple times on how to be a positive classmate and establish good group dynamics, however she herself does fully hold herself to what she preaches. The hypocrisy can be quite disappointing and unproductive to learn/work, especially because the student/professor power dynamics does not allow students to address issues like these. If you are quiet or keep to yourself, you will probably have no problems with her. However, if you have a different opinion or challenge (even if positive) the system in any way, you may see some of this side.

I needed this class to fulfill my majors technical elective credits. I was not at all interested in what we talked about at all. However, Adrienne did her best to make the class not as boring as possible. We had a guest speaker almost every week and multiple field trips throughout the quarter to keep the class not boring. There were no tests which made sitting in the back and barely listening awesome. I highly recommend this teacher, she made the class as interesting as possible and easy to pass if your willing to put in a little work.
