Take Kendra! I had her for Developmental Psych at 8am on Mondays, but she made me so excited to wake up and go to class. She kept lecture interesting and encouraged discussion, so you got viewpoints from your peers instead of just listening to her talk. She is a therapist at her own private practice and specializes in families, so she uses examples from her own patients (and her own kids) to explain the concepts. The class has 4 midterms, an essay, and a final, but are totally do-able and not as overwhelming as they may seem (the final is just questions taken straight from the midterms). While her lectures are from the textbook, she adds in other material you need to know, and she also tests on stuff from the book not covered in class. So, take notes in class and also read the book. Overall, the material is interesting and applicable to your own life, and she presents it super clearly. She's helpful and likeable, and really wants everyone to do well.

Kendra is an excellent professor! Not only did she do a great job explaining the material through engaging lectures, but she truly cared about her students. Her use of examples from her practice and family made the class interesting and helped demonstrate different concepts or ideas. Her tests were very fair and covered material from lectures and the reading. The free response portions were sometimes graded inconsistently, but she was always willing to clarify in office hours. If you have the chance, definitely take this class with Kendra!

DUDE TAKE KENDRA WILLIAMS FOR LITERALLY ANY CLASS YOU CAN. She seriously rocks. Super engaged, really cares about her students. The tests are a bit more difficult than average Child Development classes, but don't let that discourage you. She also offers an optional final that will make up your lowest test exam, so if you do poorly on the first one, don't fret. Seriously awesome though. Highly recommend.

Professor Williams provides a clear and organized lecture styled college course. I would recommend anyone of her classes to a fellow student, advising that if you complete all assignments and pay attention during lectures you will do well in her class.

She's a cool professor but this class is alot more work than one would expect. There's a book report, social media fast and group project on top of three midterms. Her tests aren't super well written and are also slightly more difficult than expected. But overall she's an engaging lecturer and makes the course interesting.

LISTEN UP KIDDOS THIS IS THE ONLY POLYRATING IVE EVER MADE SO U KNOW IT'S GUN B GUD!!! Among the best professors in Cal Poly. Addresses beyonds just course content through course content. Impressive teaching style. Not a dull moment in class and an incredibly fair individual. I wish Kendra taught all my classes. She's lit. To prepare for this course, Listen to the lecture. Seriously. Pay attention. Put away your fkn phone. Don't do the readings. (Not necessary.) Study the quizlets. (That's all you need.) Do the writing assignments. (Put some effort in it, they're a reflection of your individuality.) Kendra, please continue to make students lives better through your quality way of teaching. Thanks for personalizing your course as an opportunity for an unmatched academic experience. ~one of your OG crippled students

Professor Williams is a very funny, down-to-earth person and generally enjoyable to have. She encourages discussion during class, which is great, and the assignments she has you do are pretty easy. This class would be an easy A if she knew how to write tests... the two midterms had grammar and spelling errors galore, as did some of her presentation slides (think using "their" instead of "they're"), to the point where the test questions were difficult to understand. Some questions appeared to have multiple right answers or were just plain confusing, and all of this definitely affects your performance. Such an approach just feels disrespectful to students, and we collectively felt like she was unprepared for class. The "final" (noncumulative third midterm) had almost NO typos and was much clearer, so if she'd just spend more time writing her exams, her students' lives would be much easier. Overall, certainly not the most organized/prepared professor and can be rude for no reason, but a good person and worth taking.

Kendra is an awesome professor - she's kind, intelligent, very understanding, and approachable. This class was pretty easy to get an A in because she grades really nicely, as long as you show effort in the projects or the written parts on the test, you can definitely pass. Occasionally the material can be kinda boring, but Kendra does her best to make it interesting. Good class for a PSY elective. - textbooks: the tests do have some textbook questions, but I do not think that it is worth reading the book really in depth. if anything, get the digital version so it's cheaper. The book she used for my class called "Brainstorm," I literally only opened like twice. Not really super necessary to read because she'll go over the main points in class, but make sure you sure you know those! because she does put questions on the test about it - participation: attend class on the days she talks about Brainstorm because she takes attendance on those days - tests: I thought the tests were strangely worded sometimes and a little tricky, but I never got less than a B on them with about 3 hours of studying. The written portion definitely saved me from getting a lower grade. - projects: a group project and a smart phone tracking project, both were fairly easy and I would not stress about these

Professor Williams is, in her words, just beginning teaching. That really doesn't matter, as she is awesome! The quarter is just beginning and I'm already so excited for the rest of the course. She really pushes you out of your comfort zone, explains material fantastically, ad infinitum. You're allowed to address her as Kendra, but I've never been comfy calling profs by their first names. I hope she stays on as a regular for CP's psych dept. Robin Lewis is a great prof, too. I was trying to get into her class, but got Williams. I dont regret it.

i have had Kendra for other classes and couldn't wait to take this class from her too. she has a very personal way of teaching. most other psychology professors i have had give off the impression that they are so much better than you because they have their PHD or having been teaching for x many years, but Kendra is so humble and really connects with you. she doesn't try to sugar coat things and i love that. i wish i could be more like her. if you can take any class from her do it, you won't regret it

Let me just tell you that I took Kendra for like three classes. I was so happy that I was able to get her for abnormal psych and later on helping. She was so boss and made everything easy to learn. If you didn't get a B or higher, than no one can help you. But seriously, she was amazing and she made everything easy to learn and she is so on hands. She puts her heart and soul into her classes. She was definitely one of my favorite two professors and TAKE HER WHEN EVER YOU CAN.

Take Kendra for any class that she teaches. She is an amzing instructer and when I took her for Helping Relationship, she had us engage and she let us do a practice session with her and really made us put effort into it. Overall BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER TAKEN. Bam. I got a B+, but her tests are all notes and some reading. Super easy tests.

This was her first time teaching Intro to Counseling and it showed. She clearly knew what she was talking about but the presentation was scattered. Overall really good at this section and hopefully will be better next year. There were 3 cultural excursion which made you go out of your comfort zone and go to multicultural events which was pretty awesome. The tests were multiple choice with picking 2 of the 5 short answer options. There was also a interview a professional in a field you are interested in pursuing which was pretty useful and helpful. She does not grade hard if you do the assignments you will get credit. The tests were an in process thing but she should be on top of it next time.

I thoroughly enjoyed taking this class with Kendra. She is an extremely nice professor and she does a great job of explaining the material in an engaging and understandable way. I never had to take notes for the class, I just sat back and listened. It was so interesting and she did a really great job making it even more interesting. She is a very fair grader and does her best to help you be successful in her class. Highly recommend her. Wish more Poly profs were like her.
