Holzer, Erin  

Although Ms. Holzer first comes off as a sweet, timid teacher who truly cares in her students, you will soon learn that this class is even worse than highschool. She treats us like we are still in highschool, and then poorly teaches us a subject and expects us to prepare flawless college work with little regards to revising it first. People in the class feel as though the entire class itself is a joke. She is currently a student herself, so she has the benefit of the doubt because she is still learning how to be a teacher, but her attitude towards being a teacher can be perceived as immature and lack of common knowledge. I would NOT recommend taking Holzer until she gets her act together.

Prof Holzer wasn't easy, like I expected out of a freshman GE class, and I didn't get an A in her class. But she was 100% fair with the grading, was 100% open about why and how she evaluates what we write, and was the most accessible prof I've had so far. She was ALWAYS willing to help in anything in the course, whether it be talking about papers or other stuff. I've talked to a lot of friends who had wishy-washy freshman english profs who didn't even care about the class because it was a freshman class, and even if they got better grades than me, I got a better experience because Prof Holzer did care. So if you want a prof who won't help with your writing (mine was horrible at the beginning, and I'm happy with my B) but who will give you an easy grade, don't take her. If you want to be actually taught something, I highly recommend her.
