Chandrika is an ever-changing sea. One day, she will love your project, and the next she will absolutely hate it. She is really difficult to please, will shut down ideas, and lose interest in your project if it isn't "amazing." She is blunt, harsh, and doesn't believe in the student's abilities to choose their own groups. Overall her class is just a real circus, and youve got to get through it by pleasing her. She's your client.

A lot of people suggest taking Chandrika because she has a reputation for being easy, but that is not true. Chandrika is very bipolar when it comes to her opinions on projects. One day it will be perfect, the next she will hate it, and it results in a very confused and underdeveloped design process. Her studio is always behind the other studios and when she realizes this she blames the students and fails to see it's actually her responsibility to push her students to the next level. She also picks favorites and least favorites in the class, and treats students accordingly. She can be inappropriately unprofessional when dealing with classroom/student issues, and will be straight up disrespectful and turn it around on the student as if it were their fault. I would never recommend Chandrika to anyone. Despite her "easy" reputation, I don't feel she is worth it for the amount I learned (or didn't learn) in the quarter.

Chandrika's studio was a good balance between design concepts and practical concepts. She always has advice on how to improve your design while also be practical about it. Occasionally (and sometimes randomly) she'll add more requirements than is initially given which may or may not frustrate you but they are manageable. Overall if you have the opportunity take her and you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Chandrika is a very helpful design teacher and wants you to succeed. She seems to know her stuff and presents it fairly well. She has you learn various stages of a design process which helps keep your project design cohesive. She also stresses design and ordering principles so that the geometry of your designs is never arbitrary. Cons: Sometimes you have to put in a lot of effort to actually get her to talk to you as she tends to become interested with a small group of students' projects and spend most of her time with them. Class was fairly easy for the first month and then was nonstop work for the rest of it. Overall I would definitely recommend taking her especially when considering most of the other 2nd year profs.

Chandrika has a very well planned out course for the lab portion of 307. The assignments were relevant and clearly explained and fun. It wasn't too much work and it was fairly easy but i feel like I learned a lot in this class. She is passionate about ECS and is very through with her explanation of the material. I highly recommend her for ECS if you can take her.

Chandrika's studio was... interesting. We basically started off the class by doing a "proportions" exercise in which we built a folly that demonstrated our knowledge of ECS while meeting her demand for the integration of such proportions... We then moved on to programming our hospital (based in Morro Bay >_>) and finally designing the thing. I'm not too sure how much I got out of this class. I remember being very excited in the beginning only to have her make a lecture to the class about the beauty of the rectangle... She double majored in construction management, so her knowledge of what actually works and knowledge of practical details is definitely a plus. She's also really passionate about sustainable architecture which I found fun... but I don't know. I guess I felt like the class didn't really push my creativity as much as I hoped it would. She does play favorites... but just make sure not to argue with her and you should be fine. (Pretend she is your client?) I'd definitely taker her over other professors. However, considering whats out there I don't think that is saying a lot.

Missed the first day, went to the second day. Went to the midterm. Went to the Final. Three days of class total. I got a B, easy. This kind of shit gives our school a bad name.
