Great guy and super easy class. I got a 96 on my final and everyone else I talked to did as well. He'll love you as long as you go to class but there are almost no assignments or tests besides one video project and the final.

Vernon is a nice guy with cool stories that inspire you but his class is a joke. If you don't go like I did, you won't get a good grade. He lost one of my assignments and refused to let me make it up or give me credit for it. If you are fine with waisting an hour of your life twice a week take this class.

Vernon is amazing. Great guy Great professor and a Great person. He cares about the students(ones that want to be AGC majors)If you blow off his class and want to switch he doesn't care as much. Had lunch with him a few times when he saw me at the Avenue. He also sent me an email when I missed class cause I was sick to make sure I was doing okay. He sends out weekly emails that are fun and inspiring. If you have the opportunity to take him do it. If you are blocked into him you're welcome.

Dr. Vernon is a cool guy. He definitely favors students that want to stay in AGC. Class is super easy, his grading is a little questionable. You have to get a 93% to get an A in the class, which is a little annoying because if you miss one assignment you're pretty much screwed and have a B in the course.

Possibly the most professional teacher at Cal Poly. Dr. Vernon takes Learn By Doing to another level and provides a very fair, informative, interesting, and USEFUL class. If you have the opportunity, take Dr. Vernon for Jour 205.

Frickin' love this man. He's a grandfatherly figure and you can tell he truly cares about you and wants you to do well in his class and beyond. I was lucky enough to have him twice during my freshman year (once for AGC 102, once for Jour 205) and I looked forward to going to his class every single day. The man knows everyone and you will for sure have connections in the agriculture industry by the end of his class.

If you want a passionate teacher, someone that will make you work hard, without you realizing it... YOU NEED TO TAKE VERNON. His 404 class seemed like it was going to be just another leadership training... But I took SO much useful information away from that class, and it was enjoyable to go to class because Vernon is always chipper and ready to teach. The only negative thing I have to say about Vernon is he docked me for a point on an assignment, but on the assignment before that, I made the EXACT same mistake and he didn't dock me... Needless to say, it totally messed up my grade because had I gotten the point that was mistakingly docked, I would have gotten a 100% in the class as opposed to the 99.4% that I ended up with, and we all know that a 99.4 doesn't round up!!! Nevertheless... Vernon is a GREAT TEACHER!!! WE NEED MORE TEACHERS LIKE HIM!!! Heck, if he taught ECON 201, I'd take it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again... THE END

Vernon is awesome. He is an awesome AGvocate for agriculture! The only issue is that Vernon sure does like to mumble about all his accomplishments and hard work. IF a teacher constantly patting themselves on their back doesn't bother you, then take him. Tests are easy, a few group projects. Should be an easy A.

This wasn't really a class. AGED 404 was more of a 10 week workshop where you got to do activities in developing yourself to be a leader. Vernon was great in getting the class involved and let's be honest - this guy can give a speech. For the course we mostly just listen to guess speakers, write them thank-you letters, then receive a bajillion handouts which he quizzes us on for the midterm. The midterm is easy. Just pay attention and study those handouts and you should do fine. Most of the material is easy, take-home messages that are common sense. In addition you have to do a Leadership in Action presenetation somewhere on campus. But overall, his assignments were often fun and fairly easy to finish. Altogether, Vernon was a great lecturer and I'd recommend him anytime.

You couldn't ask for a better human being to shed light on the subject matter of agriculture than Vernon. WIthout a doubt- the world would be a better place with more professors like Dr. Vernon. That's all.

I took Dr. Vernon for AGED 404 and I must say that he is a truly talented professor - one of the best at Cal Poly. His leadership class isn't overemphasized on tests and assignments, but rather focuses on "learn by doing" activities that contain subtle leadership innuendos. His teaching style is engaging and inspiring. I highly recommended this course, even if you're not in the AGED college (I wasn't).

Ok Dr. V is great, but after having him four times and most likely 2 more times in the future, I am a little sick of it. He is SO OVERKILL on the professionalism thing. If you want to do really unnecessary extra things, like write stupid thank you letters to teachers and other people who talk in the class and hear him lecture on how women should dress professionally, then he is the teacher for you. While I am complaining, his classes are very simple and easy, but do require a lot of work (especially AGC 301). He is a good, effective teacher, so do not be discouraged. Just felt like voicing my opinion.

This is my favorite class I have taken so far at Cal Poly and the most beneficial class I have taken, because of Dr. Vernon. Vernon teaches you what they don't teach you in school about life. Every day in class was different and interactive. Vernon is so passionate about this class and his students and told so many good life lesson stories that I will always remember. You learn a lot about yourself through this class and grow as a person through this class. Vernon made it so we were excited to come to class. If you stay on top of your work and show up, you'll do well. If you have the chance to take Vernon for any class, do it!
