she gives a handout every lecture but has no real useful info on the for exams. she doesn't give any of the answers to the practice problems, so you have to go to her office hours everytime you want to know how to do a problem. Wastes the classes time by lecturing on things that aren't on the test. like everyone else mentioned, she has no sense of humor and usually answers every question with a sarcastic comment. i would avoid...

First year teaching 110, she doesn't realize its a 100 level class and whoever takes it doesn't enjoy chemistry like her. Labs were tedious and kinda boring. Full of sarcastic answers to questions. Doesn't give you answers to worksheets which is no help for studying for the midterms, class average on midterms are at about 67%. Gets pissed when she asks a question in class and knowone knows the answer, makes the whole class sit there till someone tells her a wrong answer, then she'll tell you whats wrong with their answer, and not really explain what the right answer actually is. If you are just taking chem to get the GE done don't take her..

Never take her. She is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She thinks she is better than everyone else. I never saw her smile once in three months. She is condescending and embarrasses her students for not understanding the material and answering questions wrong. She should not be teaching a level 100 Chem class or any class at all. Do NOT take her!

Dr. Joshi seems to know what she is doing. She comes to class prepared and offers good suggestions to help students learn. Her sense of humor is rather non-existent, but she is nice and understands (and can convey)her subject.

Great Teacher. From beginning of class to end I was always engaged which isn't always easy. Very good teaching style, kinda different. Very logical and VERY thorough.

She gives a lot of handouts and practice problems. Once we started learning about mechanism she lets you have a note card on the tests. She is a bit up tight in lab, and doesn't have a good sense of humor, but she knows her chemistry and explain things well.

NOT a very good teacher. Dr. Joshi does not pick out the topics that are hard for students to understand. She basically copies the reactions out of the book and gives you handouts. A good teacher understands the areas of organic chemistry that students have a hard time grasping, and explain them more in depth. Also, she has a hard time figuring out the problems she gives her own students. I expect a college teachers to be able to answer questions without having to use solutions manuals. Another reason Joshi is a bad instructor is that she will give really easy tests, but grade them unfairly to make her averages lower. Make sure you make your mechanism arrows EXACTLY perfect because if they are even a mm off, she will mark you down. She does not test your intelligence or ability to think, she tests your ability to memorize material (which is quite difficult in organic chemistry). I hope I NEVER have to take this instructor again because this class was a waste of time (if you really wanted to, you could skip class and learn everything on your own, it would probably be more efficient). Good Luck.

Dr. Joshi is hard to warm up to, but can be nice, but does not answer questions well at all!!! Most of the time, I would get the "I dont know" answer. The class is hard, as it should be, but could have been better if she answered the questions asked. I did like that she had worksheets and time in class to do them, but sometimes she didnt know the answer to her worksheet questions. I had to use another teacher to help me in this class, without his help I would never have passed! I failed the first test, then went to get help from the other teacher. So if you have to take her be prepared to get another teacher to help you!

Taking this instructor is like being in a Twilight Zone episode. You just can
