The class is very childish, but the class is very easy. Simon is a cool teacher, but the lady really does not know as much as she should to teach. Be prepared to have to teach yourself the material, but she makes the midterms simple, and the quizzes are pathetically easy. Also, class is not as boring as you would think because you just bulshit with her the whole time.

Lisa comes to class with a smile and is excited to teach. The class is divided into groups (student-choice) that work together on two important assignments. Individually, you have a lot of assignments, but they are easy and she grades mostly based on completion. I really appreciated the way Blackboard was integrated with the class which saved the time and paper I would normally use printing assignments. She also updates grades frequently. As with any class with group projects, meet at least once a week and get work done between meetings.

simon is great! she has a great attitude and actually enjoys teaching. you learn a lot, but the class itself is pretty easy. the lectures are repetitive of the readings; there are easy open book quizzes online; all activity assignments online can be done as many times as you want so you can turn in an 100% score every time; and there are NO MIDTERMS!!! The only thing that sucks is that you work on a marketing plan with a group of like 4 or 5 people that takes up a lot of time...and it comes out to only like 8% of your grade or something like that. The final is pretty easy though, it is just like all the online quizzes. now that i have summed up the entire class...take her!!

Lots of busy work both in class and out of class. But for the most part easy online stuff. Journal, quizzes, presentation, marketing plan, textbook activities. Tries to be funny but fails. Definitely makes her point of view clear, and doesn't like to be corrected if wrong, or care about how her views make someone else feels.

Lisa Simon is a cool lady. She's super nice and just kinda quirky. She likes to have discussions in class which can be helpful/funny/a waste of time/interesting. She assigns some busy work which is annoying. Her projects are decently time consuming if you want an A. Pick a good group as you stay with the same group all quarter for 3 projects. The online quizzes are frustrating but they force you to keep up and a lot of the questions show up on her exams. Overall, taking Lisa Simon is an okay experience. The 346 class just kinda sucks, but she is probably the best alternative.

Great teacher. She makes everything really easy to understand (although reading the book already is easy). Go to class because she tends to show really interesting things! She says she doesnt take attendance but she gives out "extra credit" on days when it seems that a lot of people are skipping.

This class was rather frustrating due to an excessive amount of busy work. There is a chapter reading and quiz due almost every class period, several "learning activities," two midterms, one cumulative final, a case study/presentation, and two marketing research projects. The case study and two projects are done with the same group all quarter so lock down a good group. Professor Simon is fairly nitpicky so check rubrics before submitting assignments. That all being said, she is pretty entertaining during lectures so going to class isn't too bad. She is a nice lady and knows her stuff but the time commitment for this class is, again, frustrating. Definitely an easy B though...

this teacher is absolutely RUDE. if she doesnt like you, she will purposely mark your presentations and assignments down. and when you ask her to prove what you did wrong, she cant. she is absolutely childish and treats the class like 2nd graders. DO NOT TAKE SIMON. SHE IS RUDE, ARROGANT, AND AN INSTIGATOR. I will be reporting her to the marketing department.

Simon is the worst professor I've had so far at Poly. She is the most subjective grader you will ever meet, so if you can I would get on her good side as soon as you can. Or just be a girl. She single handedly made me hate marketing because of her teaching. The lectures are pointless since everything is in the book, and the midterms are deceivingly difficult, you have to go very in depth with the text. Just don't take her, you'll hate her. Gives no reason for marking down students, especially on oral presentations so if you aren't a teachers pet or a female, you're screwed.

Simon is a professor that seems better suited to teach high school. While she is knowledgable about the subject, she is very condescending and likes to antagonize the class. Also, another hobby is her trying to win our approval by being the "cool" professor that says inappropriate and unrelated things during lecture to get a rise out of the class. Her grading on assignments is pretty subjective, and make sure you get a good group because 90% of the class is group work. Overall I hated the class but not the subject.

Straight to the meat: 346 was mostly a self-taught class. Simon didn't provide really in depth classroom lectures for our chapters, so we really had to read our textbook. She pulled questions directly from the text, so be sure to actually read (especially the case studies and examples in the book). We had weekly online quizzes on Connect, but she said she won't have future classes do that so that's cool too... There were 2 exams: 1 midterm and one cumulative final with 2 short essay questions. The final recycled questions from the midterm. We worked on a quarter-long Marketing Plan project in groups, so find a good group because she's a harsh grader. There was also a case study assignment that you work on with your same group. Bottom line: Do your reading although its a pretty wordy book. Smile at her. Or, be a girl (as aforementioned). But on the real I did end up learning a lot about marketing and it's nice seeing how everything we learned in class is translated into the real world.

Lisa can be a tough grader when it comes to the marketing assignments but her online quizzes are pretty straight forward and can boost your grade. Students complain constantly about the difficultly of the midterm and final but if you read the book carefully and put in some studying hours, you will be successful in this class. The best advice I can offer is to get a motivated group so you can do well on the marketing plan (its a large part of the final grade).

Simon was the first teacher to ever treat a class like a business, which was great for me to experience. I really enjoyed this class, and Professor Simon as a teacher. It is very obvious that she loves teaching, and loves helping students who care about learning the material, not just getting a decent grade. While I could have done better grade wise, I have never left a class with an overall understanding of the material more than in 346.

Lisa Simon is the worst ever. The work load is insane, the expectations are unrealistic, and she's evil. THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD AT CAL POLY. I hate the sound of her voice, I hate going to class twice a week, and I hate the way she teaches. I could go on for hours about all of the things wrong with her and this course, which I would love to do, but instead I will focus on DETERRING YOU FROM TAKING THIS COURSE BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY. Do not take this course if there is any way at all possible that you can get away with it. It is dreadful, everyone hates it, and the workload is insane. Turned me off of marketing for good. THIS CLASS IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT. If you want to spend an absurd amount of time on an INTRODUCTORY MARKETING class and end up with a B+ then feel free to take this. The amount of work that this class requires is actually ridiculous. This is supposed to be an introductory class that gives me a sense of what marketing is like, I know for a fact that there is no way in hell all of the other marketing classes are this difficult. The only point of this class is to make you struggle to get an A and then not give it to you in the end. Also Simon is so fucking annoying.

THIS CLASS IS BULLSHIT. First of all how can a "professor" who has taught for 30 years know anything about how teach marketing for our current generation. This class is outdated and a joke, and you would probably be better off taking at Cuesta, maybe even your high school. I'd rather shove forks in my eyes than sit through another one of Simon's lectures. YOU WILL NOT GET AN A IN THIS CLASS EVEN IF MARK ZUCKERBERG WROTE YOUR GOD DAMN MARKETING PLAN. On the real though, it's disappointing that Cal Poly offers this class as an introductory class for students considering marketing majors, as this class will steer anyone away from the topic.

She is easily the worst teacher I have ever had. the whole class is 1 project, and 2 tests. She grades extremely hard and picks favorites. She literally admitted to our team that because she thought we didn't pay attention in lecture that she doesn't think we deserve to do well on the project. She should be fired immediately. 100% not joking, she does not need to be in that class since the ONLY directions on the project are given to you in the form of prior assignments, using them as templates, and some of them received poor grades. Oh and as per usual when a teacher is bad, she reads straight off her powerpoint which is straight from the book. She even ignores important questions. AND all the stuff about her talking to you as a kid is 100% true. So if you like sucking up to a teacher and listening to a horribly winey voice then take this class.

Professor Simon is the most annoying, condescending, and horrifyingly rude person I have ever met. Its as if she thinks she is teaching a kindergarten class. She stops class to glare at students that come in 1 minute late, if a phone rings she reprimands the student in front of the class and threatens to take their phone away, and she often tells students that the questions they ask are stupid. Her constant scoffing, glaring, overuse of annoying and immature catchphrases, catty and hurtful remarks and complete lack of compassion make the class unbearable. As a business student that plans on concentrating in marketing I was genuinely excited for this class. I think the marketing plan project is interesting and useful knowledge. However, if I had known anything about Professor Simon I NEVER would have taken her class. I spent all of my time and energy on this class and barely managed to get a B due to her inconsistent grading, unclear instructions, and lack of compassion for her students. She could not care less about the well-being of the students in her class and was never willing to help or listen. Also, the way the marketing plan is graded is completely unfair, there is a section due once a week that is "reviewed" by 2 mentors and then "graded" by Simon, she is supposed to disregard the mentors notes and grade each groups section based off of her own thoughts but halfway through the quarter a mentor informed us that they were essentially the ones that give the grades because she just copies the grade they assigned it. So not only does this mean she is incredibly lazy and not honest with her students but the grading process is completely unfair. One mentor graded extremely hard and gave her groups Fs on sections that another mentor would've given them a B for. Overall, negatively impacting many students grades. The work load is manageable, however the whole process is unfair and completely flawed. The tests are impossible because you are expected to know the whole textbook for the final and all the other random trash she spits out in class. Her lectures are worthless, but she takes attendance if she notices people aren't there so you have to go and have her waste two hours of your life. If you want to stay sane, AVOID her at all costs.

I know that most polyratings can be be seen as dramatic or by students who slacked off the whole year and feel entitled to a good grade, but as an honest rating from a student who worked harder in this intro marketing class than any other class taken at cal poly you will not learn anything from this class. It is set up with mentors, who by the way graded all of our marketing strategies for her, and you will thank them for their existence because they will teach you the small amount of material you will actually learn. I'm so disappointed that Cal Poly believes that this standard of teaching and grading is acceptable. There are no clear objectives ever put in place of this course, and there is an obvious amount of favoritism of students (which happens in many classes, but this favoritism affected grades which is unacceptable). Marketing is such a key aspect to business and honestly anything you pursue in life will have some aspect of marketing, like marketing yourself when you are competing for a job. In my opinion a subject as important as Marketing shouldn't be taught by someone who clearly isn't equipped to teach such an essential course.

Professor Simon is super interesting and fun. I had some of the best times in her class. We had one group project which had little assignments due each week during activity, one midterm and one final exam. I got an A on the project but a B in the class so you're not totally screwed if you don't test well but this does require a lot of effort. I didn't do well on the midterm or final but I felt like I had still learned a lot at the end because of the project. Didn't miss a single lecture because they were so interesting to me (although to be fair you kinda had to show up bc she would give out assignments for your groups sometimes and if you missed class you missed points for the day). I made some good friends out of this class and felt like I had accomplished something on the business-ey side of things

Pros: Hands-on practice marketing a new product Opportunity to create professional reports Online quizzes are easy points Student mentors guide your marketing group and answer questions Chance to compete for money, if your end-of-quarter pitch is good enough Simon will answer your questions if direct Tough grading is a motivator to try harder Cons: A LOT of work; the first 8 or 9 weeks is creating parts of the marketing plan, which is a lot of research and writing Tough grading; Simon is harshly critical of students' work (this is a motivator to do better though); usually grades improve as time goes on Working in groups (this was a con for me because the groups were assigned and I ended up doing most of the work, which was already a lot for 5 people to do) There is still a lot of text material to cover (2-3 chapters a week) Midterm was very hard, Final was much easier Simon can be a bit childish during class, which has annoyed some people Suggestions: If you take this course, know it is a lot of work, but I personally got a lot out of the experience. Lisa Simon is nice. It is not her fault the marketing project is what students have to do all quarter. It's demanding, and if you have a shitty group it sucks, but she's a good person and she has it weighed fairly where you can be successful and still have room for air. Lisa is not very good at answering questions...You do have mentors though- so thank goodness for them! Lisa is a bit perverted, but she does a decent job. You have quizzes do every week that are on quizlet. The midterm and final are on quizlet too. The main challenge is the marketing plan, but meet with your mentors and eventually you get a hang of what's expected. Take this class. It's fair.

You will spend a lot of hours outside of the classroom specifically for your Marketing Plan Project, but it's only necessary. Lisa is a very picky grader when it comes to the Marketing Plan, but it's only to produce the best final results! Professor Simon expects you to spend a lot of time on her class. You will not be able to do well on the quarter long project or the tests without putting in much more time than what you expect, and more than I think than what was fair. Her lecture is not helpful and you should spend time studying online quizlets instead of the notes. The project has a bad timeline and will create more work than necessary. I made outlines of the assigned chapters voluntarily and found that her lecture added little to the book. You should make chapter outlines because her lecture and powerpoints are not suited for note taking. Her slides are full of information, but she never gives enough time to write anything down. You need to create chapter outlines, or you will not have good notes. She does not highlight the important info that will be on the test. The test is closer to the online quizzes than her lectures. You will be better off looking up quizlet flashcards, than studying your notes from class. The questions included things we did NOT talk about in class. The exam will ask questions about minute one sentence information from the book. Myself, a B+ to A student, got a high C on the first exam. All of my group and most of the class got a C or worse on the first exam. Her lectures will NOT prepare you, quizlets found online will. My second complaint is that the quarter long project requires too much time and effort and without sufficient support. My group was one of the highest performers for the weekly deliverables and we usually got B's on everything. Only once did we get a low A. She gives you database tools, but these are NOT enough. My group ended up having to make up information about the cost of distribution, manufacturing, and marketing. She and her student assistants do NOT give enough help or information on these topics and others. We asked our student assistant and she only told us to google it and keep looking which we had already done for hours as a group. Finally, the project timeline is off. You decide the price of your product, then 3 weeks later find out the cost to produce it. My group product had a very small margin of profit because we were unaware of the cost. Additionally, you set how you will market the product then 2 weeks later figure out the cost. Most of the groups had to go back and edit so many of their previous plans and ended up with double the workload. The project timeline should be moved around. Expect to spend a decent amount on the deliverables every week and then more for when you have to completely change your previous plans.

This class consists of 1 midterm, 1 final, and a s*!# ton of 500 word marketing strategy papers that you do with a group. If you get a bad group and not everyone pulls their weight you are inevitably screwed. The material for the midterm and final itself isn't hard, however since it is multiple choice it looks like nearly every answer is correct. Professor Simon really cares about her students and will do everything in her power to make sure you succeed if you reach out to her. Down side: you can't miss class or you miss out on points that will really help your grade in the end/her class can be painfully (and I emphasize painfully) boring at times.

Professor Simon requires a marketing group project (NO you DO NOT get to choose your group, so good luck), one midterm, one final, and online quizzes. The final is worth 300 points, and your project is worth a total of 390 points, but you will be spending soooo much more time on the project than studying. The midterm and final were both pretty tricky, definitely study well for them, regardless of how well you're doing on the weekly project assignments. The tests are just as, if not more important in your grade. Use your project advisors and ask them as many questions as you can come up with and have them review your project before you turn it in - that's their job, use them as a resource as often as possible. If you have problems with your team (as I did, often) tell the professor or ask your advisor for advice. You should not be doing all the work, and if you have teammates who are throwing it all on your shoulders, don't let them get away with it, stand up for yourself. Good luck getting a different professor, because Simon teaches most of them, and the other professor has classes that fill up fast. You're likely to be stuck with Simon, so prepare yourself. Participate in class and don't look like you're asleep, she gets a little bit frustrated if the class is unresponsive during lecture. Also you'll notice she says "yeah baby" a lot, which may make you cringe, but just go with it.

It's an inconsistent--albeit somewhat fun--mess. In fact, I'd say it's about as consistent as a nice carpet with large patches made out of legos. Some assignments and chapters are so easy I processed them half asleep while other aspects are the academic equivalent of breaking bricks with your flaccid penis. Information ranges from "smile when talking to a customer" to random minutiae of inventory logistics with no middle ground. This leads to such a bizarrely steep learning curve that Disney was able to film the infamous mass suicide of lemmings by putting them on said curve. The marketing plan is deceptively unfair in terms of the process and resulting grades. Critical feedback relies on the mentors who have the quality consistency of a new iPhone--I take that back that's an insult to iPhones. Ironically sharing the same general trend as cal poly teachers, most mentors are disorganized, unresponsive, and ineffective at good communication save for a couple of mentors who are exceptionally great. Feedback can range from a nebulous "it's okay" to such oddly specific nitpicking I'm often unsure of what I'm supposed to learn. It's not uncommon to get docked points for doing what you're told while being genuinely praised for rushed, uninspired work. The root of this is Simon herself. Her standards flip flop around so much it makes World War 2 era Italy jealous. She'll show you what are supposed the model example of an assignment beforehand yet harshly grade assignments which are similar to--or arguably surpass--said example. She's knowledgeable and good humored, yet very neurotic at times. She expects students to function almost at the same levels as career marketers while also treating students like children with her attitude towards attendance and laptops in class. She tries to justify how marketing is a deep and integral subject while dumbing down many topics and poorly rehashing certain ideas that were done better in econ and accounting classes. Simon herself is very likable and there are some topics which are simultaneously accessible and interesting. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have any good moments in this class but it's overshadowed by the negatives. Bus 346 is the equivalent of a delicious hot dog in a ratchet ass bun.

This class is NOT as bad as people say it is. Yes, it is draining and the textbook is practically pointless. However, if you learn to laugh your way through the quarter it is definitely manageable. Go to office hours and she will look at your assignments before submission. The group you get affects your entire experience and grade in the class. This lady straight sucks. She puts you into these dumb groups for the project and if you have a bad one you will get a bad grade in the class. The project is graded in such an unfair manner. Another groups project had just as many markings on it and she gave them a whole letter grade higher. One person in my group legit didn't do and we told her that. She responded with "that's what it is like working in a group" and proceeded to give him the same grade as us. The kid should fail the class but he will likely get a grade very close to mine. She thinks a peer eval that is worth 5% of your grade makes up for the fact that he didn't help us on the project that is worth 50% of your grade. Absolutely wack in my opinion. In the end, I worked hard for my grade and I'm proud to say I got a B in a class where the grading is arbitrary and the teacher is wack.

I have never filled out a PolyRating before because I think it's biased and unprofessional. However, this was my worst experience with a professor, or any authoritative figure, in my entire life and therefore, deserves to be shared so people do not have to go through the same experience as I did. The majority of this class is based on creating a marketing plan that has deliverables due each week with a group of four to six people. One day a week is lecture, the second day is "workshop" to work on the project and various team elements. While I believe the project to be an exemplary model of the "Learn by Doing" philosophy, Lisa Simon approaches it very wrong. Professor Simon missed our first two days of class because she was at a marketing conference with a small group of students... okay, understandable. She then missed the workshop day during Week 2. The groups are formed during the very first week of class and Professor Simon uses your StrengthsQuest strengths to form the teams... whatever that means. My team comprised of two of the original members when we met during workshop day of Week 1 because (I'm guessing) the other members dropped the course. The peer mentors who "run" workshop and work with individual teams all quarter long assigned three people randomly to my group without any consultation with Professor Simon. I played with the cards I was dealt and we created a team contract to be followed throughout the entirety of the quarter and for the criteria for the two peer evaluations to be filled out mid-quarter and at the end of the quarter. Our class was instructed that we had to turn an existing product and twist a component to make it a "social good." We had a deliverable due the next workshop day (one week) that needed to outline what our product was specifically and why it was important, but we had not even met our professor yet. There was no structure to the class, no room to ask questions, and no way to get feedback. Fast forward to twelve hours before its due and my team still has not decided on a product and is ignoring all of my GroupMe messages. Out of frustration and not wanting to experience a crappy group for the rest of the quarter (I know we have all been there), I emailed Professor Simon about my issues and asking for guidance. She never responded to my email. The next day in class, I expressed my concerns to my group members in person and I was YELLED AT in the middle of class for "tattling" on them. The mentors did nothing to stop it. This happened on numerous occasions. I emailed my mentor and Professor Simon about my struggles and dissatisfaction with my group repeatedly. I was told it was a just a part of working in the real world. I beg to differ. If you do not do your work AT ALL and are flat out rude/condescending, you usually get fired or at least have some repercussions for your actions. I told Professor Simon that being a part of this group was hurting my mental health as I had several panic attacks and all-nighters picking up the slack for my other members. She told me, "I'm not switching you now, it's too far into the quarter." I EMAILED HER DURING THE SECOND WEEK OF SCHOOL BEFORE THE FIRST DELIVERABLE WAS EVEN DUE, BUT SHE NEVER EMAILED ME BACK. It's not even that my group was un-participating, but they were rude, ignored my messages, didn't even log onto Google Docs once for some assignments, hardly showed up to meetings, were argumentative about work that they never contributed to, and said nasty, disrespectful things to me. Whatever. I buckled my bootstraps and I took the project in stride. Picking up all the slack for three out of my four other group members. At the end of the day, one other girl and I only missed five points off the final marketing plan (I say us two because we did 80% of the work). On the day of the final (which is cumulative/based off the textbook and doesn't make any sense because there's a midterm and MOST OF THE CLASS DOES NOT EVEN FOCUS ON THE BOOK), Professor Simon says she is going to post all of our final grades besides the final while we take the test and not to email her being whiny about the grades we "earned." She said, "I will delete any emails I receive pertaining to grades." Well, guess what. I check my grade after I finish my final, and I missed ten points on my participation grade which is solely based on the project contribution which I did the entire project. What a joke and I cannot even email to ask her what I did wrong because SHE WILL JUST DELETE MY EMAIL ANYWAYS. On top of my terrible experience, I witnessed Professor Simon being utterly crass and disrespectful to students on various occasions. She mocks students names, calls out students in class for being one minute late, discourages students from asking questions in class, aggressively talks over students when asking a question/answering hers, etc. If these kinds of things do not affect your learning environment or you do not care, then Professor Simon is an okay option. However, I think she is very poor representation of OCOB, Cal Poly, and the state's budget.

Simon can be a bit boring during lecture, but the quizzes are easy and online. The tests you should probably study for, midterm and final. The biggest assignment is the marketing project, and for this I suggest you get together with your group and literally block out a whole two hours extra each week, as if it is another class period so that you can work on it consistently every week. We worked on ours Mondays at 6, got most of it done before it was due and could revise it in class. She usually has some awesome TAs, definitely utilize them to look over your work and ask them questions about the assignments. Even if your group isn't super productive, try to allocate work. Just make sure to have everyone editing and looking over things so you have multiple sources of input. Simon is definitely a personality, fun to talk to. Be nice to her, she can be a great resource for information and networking because she is the head of marketing in the college of business.

She is really really annoying and her lectures are extremely pointless. She embarrasses herself throughout the 2 hour lecture. There is 1 midterm and a final that are multiple choice and fairly easy.

Just a really bad professor. Needs to work on lectures that do not only apply to the project.

Went in expecting to have Stern Neill and class was switched to Lisa Simon. Everyone was somewhat pissed but I ended up enjoying her class. She is disorganized and at times treated us like little kids...However, she fully believes in the learn by doing teaching style and frankly I wouldn't have asked to learn the course material in a different way. We actually compiled a 70-page report on a major firm (which is a great subject to discuss during a job interview by the way) and we did this on our own through a large amount of time. The class is a lot of work but what 400 level class isn't. The people who complain about Simon most likely are mad because they didn't get an A in a class they expected to do very little work in to produce a good grade. Bottom line... work your butt off, get to know Simon and you will learn a lot and more than likely get an A in 418

Simon is the most frustrating professor of all time. If you fulfill every "A" grade requirement on the rubrics you can expect anywhere from a C to a D on the assignment because she will take points off for completely subjective reasons. If you can read her mind you'll get an A, but if you can't then she will tell you to go fuck yourself via grades. Do not take her class unless you're ready to stick your nose up her ass

I've never felt so strongly about a professor that I'd do something like write a review on PolyRatings. However, I care about my fellow Mustangs so it's important that you all are informed about Lisa Simon. Simon is the worst professor I have ever had, and probably will ever have. My friend was in her BUS 346 (Principles of Marketing) class for one day and dropped because she hated her so much. I was stuck with Simon for 10 weeks. In that time, I learned that the only way to succeed was to completely kiss her ass (she plays favorites like it's a game), which I did not do because she doesn't deserve it. She is completely unclear on all of her instructions and the rubrics are poorly outlined. It's like she's vague on purpose so she can mark you down if she doesn't like you. She goes off-topic and talks about trivial subjects/current events that gets the students riled up so that they'll talk to her. There was one lecture where she constantly brought up the weather instead of helping us with our project. She would check the weather every 5 minutes to see if the temperature had changed. The material, group work, and projects in this class are definitely hands-on so you learn a lot. But you learn ON YOUR OWN or with your group because Lisa Simon will not help you. Expect to be spoken to like a five-year old and be unfairly graded. She's a subjective grader who only takes the following criteria into consideration when scoring assignments: "Do I like this person?" "Are commas and apostrophes in the right place?" and "Did they use the word 'cheap'? Because I hate that." You cn be marked down anywhere from 3 to 20% for not fulfilling the aforementioned checklist or using terminology that she doesn't like ("cheap" "sufficient" "normally distributed" etc.) On one of my assignments, I got marked down 26% but she only included two comments as feedback. I had included a test subject's last name on accident (should be redacted to maintain anonymity) and I didn't elaborate on my concluding statement, even though I had already written TWO PAGES leading up to it. I worked my ass off to get a B. Get to know her pet peeves inside and out and avoid them like the plague. You won't pass this class without doing so. If you're thinking about taking any of her courses, do yourself a favor and DO NOT ENROLL IN HER CLASS IF YOU VALUE YOUR GRADES OR WANT TO KEEP YOUR SANITY.

DO NOT TAKE SIMON she is incredibly annoying and condescending. Her assignments are incredibly vague and when you ask her clarifying questions she never answers you in a meaningful way, she just says some bs until you realize you won't ever get an actual answer and give up. Her lectures are useless and the reading assignments are mediocre at best. She somehow has teacher of the year plaques from the early 00's but has clearly given up since then. Overall I learned almost nothing this quarter in her class. This class isn't easy either so it really has no redeeming values. If I got stuck taking a shitty teacher it would have been nice to at least get an easy A or B.

DANGER: Awful human being. Lisa is the worst teacher I have ever had at Poly. Not only does she only treat us like 6 year olds, she expects us to follow her to the ends of the earth without question. Going to class is a waste of time as she only reads off the slides. Her grading system is atrocious as she only reads the first few pages of your assignment and bases your grade off that. She only provides a couple of comments as to why you got the grade you did, which make no fucking sense. Don't take this woman.

Did well in the class only because of knowledge i had from BUS 346. Really there was nothing new in this class and I learned nothing that 346 didn't already teach me. But i liked her as a prof. She has this very maternal attitude about her that is annoying, yet supportive. Take her!

This class is so tedious. Yes, I got a good grade in the class. It's just because I reread her instructions a thousand times to make sure I got done everything EXACTLY right. Does it matter the quality? I'm not super sure. Does it matter what font size you used? YES OMG!!! Anyway, I did get some valuable skills in developing a real-world marketing strategy and feel grateful for that, but not at the expensive of the amount of mental break downs I had for this class. If you're in this class, pray you have a good group.

I took this class online and it was A TON of work. Three group projects with flaky members, weekly posts where you have to post and comment on other peoples...I got 100% twice and I had to post 2987529835 times to get that. There are quizzes that you have an hour to do that are pretty easy without the book but with the book you should get 100% on them all. The final was in person and I got an 82. Just study all of the quizzes and her study guide, the final was not tricky you just had to learn the material. Shes a nice lady but I just don\'t think this class is necessarily made to be taken online.

Prof Simon is the most condescending and pretentious piece of work I've ever had the displeasure of taking for a business class. Although I am not the brunt of her snotty remarks most of the time, it makes me sick how she treats us as if we are mentally delayed or third graders (example: she'll flip the lights on and off if we are "too loud"). I'm sick and tired of her looking down her nose at us and talking all slow and simple as if we are stupid. She's horrid; flashes her PHD around like she's some sort of superior being, and it really nauseates me. Prof Simon, get off your snotty high-horse and learn to relate to human beings. This is why I respect Metcalf way over Simon: Metcalf doesn't waive her superior qualifications over us: that is the true foundation of a respectable professor.

The biggest warning sign I should've listened to: "I'm not here to teach you" written on her syllabus. Save yourself the trouble of listening to her be the queen of her domain 4 hours a week and take a different International Business class.

Her grading process is subjective and indicative not of the level of knowledge you portray, but of how many commas you forgot to put in a sentence. She will mark off points on your test for no apparent reason at all. If she doesn't like you she will subjectively fuck your grade. There is complete discrepancy between who gets good grades and who doesn't. As a good student I have been abhorred that she is allowed to be a teacher at Cal Poly.

I am currently enrolled in this course and holy shit do not even think of taking his teacher if you are trying to fulfill your international business requirement. I am currently sitting in this class drilling my head into a wall due to how she is whining consistently and marking students absent just for being 5 seconds late for class. The best part tho is she doesn't even have a participation grade stated in her rubric! She treats you like a 5th grader starting each class off by screaming at the top of her lungs like she just snorted 50mg of adderall and I'm not trying to listen to that at 8am. Teach me the material, don't act like my mom. If the only thing you want to take away from this class is to be the king of busy work by all means enroll, because her assignments are tedious and uninteresting and don't explain the subject matter at all.
