ENGL 134

Freshman

General Ed
Jan 2006
Forces the student to do a lot of writing, but the class is called Writing Composition after all. Mrs. Matzke cares for all of the students in her class, and wants them to actually improve their writing over the quarter. Grading (on the essays) is tough, but it's nothing a few revisions can't fix. I recommend Mrs. Matzke.

Mrs. Matzke is an awesome professor. I took her during my first quarter of my freshman year and had my world rocked. I always got A's on my essays and didn't give 134 a second thought. I worked my ass off in this class and pulled a B. If you're looking for an easy class, this isn't the class for you. The class itself was horrible, I hated it. But Matzke is a good professor. The class might be hard, and you resent it all quarter long, but you DO learn a lot and DO come out of the class a better writer. She doesn't give pop quizzes unless she feels the majority of the class hasn't been doing the short readings for about a week, and even when she does, they're easy if you actually read the 5 page story. You write 3 main essays, all of which you are required to redo. You have to go to the writing lab and turn in a revised essay. You can only revise it each one once though, but trust me, it's for your benefit! The other small papers you can redo until you get the grade you want. Matzke is a good professor; you learn a lot, become a better writer, but the class does suck. If you want to learn how to write TAKE AURORA MATZKE!
