Jin is a pretty bad professor. She has a heavily accented, high pitched voice, so she can be quite hard to understand. Additionally, she does not convey the material very well and I often walked out of lecture completely confused. The class consisted of homework, one midterm and a final. On the midterm, the class average was 50% and the highest grade was a 70%, but she curves heavily. The 70% would be considered an A and so on. I went to her office hours multiple times but she would simply rework the problem I asked about instead of stepping back and explaining the concepts thoroughly. I did manage to get an A in this class but I studied a LOT. Jin did not make it easier to learn the material.

Jin was good in office hours. Lecture was much harder to understand. I found some of her asides during lecture worthwhile; for example, one day she talked about how the structure of promotions in engineering works. Go to office hours; she is happy to clarify things from class (because you won't understand it from class). On the whole, I'd greatly prefer her over Agbo.

Jin is an easy A. A little homework assignment once a week and the tests are based only on the medium difficulty problems. Her lecture is confusing, so just read the book and do the examples and the class will be easy.

She really wants people in her class to learn the information, so in that way, she is really interested in her material. Unfortunately, she has a rather thick chinese accent, which makes her english sometimes a little hard to decipher. Her final also kicked the crap out of all the people in the class. I think the average on the final was a 60+%.

How the hell did this foreign bafoon even get to be a professor?! She's never available for office hours, you can't understand a word that comes out of her mouth, she talks a mile a minute, constantly screws up her notes in lecture, and is probably the worst professor I've ever had. Everything I've learned in this class has been from going home and working from the book, which sucks too. This class is pretty important, so I suggest you learn the material from someone else. I usually don't write this evaluations but I'm being nice and saving everyone a haunting quarter with an evil teacher.

I don\'t rip on professors. This is not a professor. At best this is an equal opportunity hire, at worst it is a blatant disregard for student needs and a complete failure by the EE department. She can\'t speak, can\'t teach, can\'t keep track of what she\'s writing, can\'t test equivalent to the material she\'s teaching, and hasn\'t changed in the years she\'s been doing this. I think she\'s probably a reasonable engineer, after all, she has published work that seems interesting, but she is NOT a teacher, educator, professor, or any other term for someone supposed to relay information. If you take her, you need to know two things: 1 - you must teach yourself, 2 - you will pass (I didn\'t score better than 58 on anything and got a B). The curves were insane with only 3 earned A\'s over the 3 tests for all her sections combined.

If you need to take EE 306 do not take this professor unless you have to. She is a nice person, but she completely fails at being a professor. If you take this class you must know that you will be basically teaching yourself everything. She has a pretty thick Chinese accent so if you are deterred by this, do not take her. However, if you do take this class you will pass with at least a C- if you turn in every homework and take every test. This is really the only good thing about the class. In class she is completely sporadic in the amount of information she gives on a topic. It seems that throughout the quarter she spent the least time on the important stuff, which she later tested on, and the most time on mundane things she never tested on. The one good thing about her is that she always had office hours, which most people went to because they could not do the homework. But yet again she even failed at office hours. Her version of helping you with homework is to print out the solutions and hand them to you. You can ask her a question about specific problems, but she basically points you back to the solutions. Her tests suck but she always curves them due to everyone performing horribly. The average for the midterms in my class were around a 66 and a 51. All in all, DO NOT TAKE HER!

The majority of Electrical Engineering Professors have awful accents, but Jin's is the absolute worst. If you have walked through any EE hallway or any building where she is teaching, you would know her voice from the distinct, high-pitched squeal. You can make out every third word if you try really hard or are of Asian decent and are used to it. I recommend going to class to sign in on her stupid attendance sheet, turning in your homework, and then going home to teach yourself out of the book. Her voice alone makes me want to quit EE.

I'm not too sure why everyone is ripping on Jin. She's definitely not the worst in the department, but not the best. That being said, she did a half-decent job doing 306. Sometimes she would sound like gibberish, but she openly acknowledged that she has a thick accent and that if you need for her to repeat something, don't be afraid to do so. With that, she has a difficult time understanding student's questions, so you may need to ask more than once in different ways. Her only midterm was pretty hard (not brutal though), and her final was about the same difficulty of her midterm. In office hours she will literally give you the solutions if you showed her that you tried. It's not an easy class, but neither is EE in general. C across the board here.

I took this professor in Fall 15, If you have a hard time understanding broken English, take another professor like Braun. Otherwise, if you are accustomed to that English, you are at an advantage! Her lectures are great--during lecture I would not understand it, but when I look back at those lecture notes, I would be able to complete homework. It is like learning without realizing you learned something. That being said, EE306 is more focused on physics than your typically EE307 EE112 EE211 EE212 etc. I would say it was like a half physics half circuits to break down the course. That being said, make sure you understand the class (FETs, diodes, BJTs), otherwise the strug life will be real in 307 and 308 and the rest of your senior year. Her midterm averaged at a low B/ high C... however, I have seen that previous class or other class averages fall between 50s and 60s typically. Don't worry about the grading, she does class ranking which is pretty much a curve around 2.7-2.9, trying to evenly distribute the class into each letter grade. If you try and she sees that you try, you will not fail, typically she does not give out Fs, maybe 1. That being said, if you put in the effort, and she sees that, you will get a passing grade. I would recommend this professor. She is also helpful in office hours. Also has some nice philosophy about life, but that is a different story.

It amazes me that this professor has been able to teach here for 7+ years without ever learning how to speak english. If you're good at teaching yourself from the textbook then go ahead and take this class, because you really don't have to show up to her lectures. Whenever you do show up, it will most definitely feel like a waste of your time. If you get stuck with her for 306 it's not the end of the world; the textbook is actually decently written and easy to follow. Her tests are not very hard, and she has a policy of giving you a D at the very least as long as you show up every Wednesday and turn in every homework assignment (one assignment per week). You could literally fail every test and still pass the class as long as you do these two things. Good luck.

Jin is truly one of the worst EE teachers when it comes to the whole teaching thing. Her lectures are poorly organized and she jumps all over the place. She will write an example on the board, do a halfassed attempt and solving it, mumble some inaudible words, and then circle an answer which came from nowehere. She is pretty difficult to understand due to her accent but I can get over that. When asked how to prepare for the midterm she says look at notes, which werent helpful. In addition, the reading and homework she assigns is tailored to a different professor so that's not too helpful. Just don't get her.

I took this off quarter and so I had to take 8 am Jin. A V O I D. She tries and is a really nice lady, but her accent is really hard to understand. I figured I'd be able to deal but it made learning semiconductors 1000x more difficult. She is not a professor you want early in the morning or late in the day. Reading the book is the only way I learned anything in this class.

Jin's not a bad teacher. She presents the material at a fairly brisk pace so it's easy to get lost during lecture. However, she uploads all her lecture notes so you can go over them yourself, which is definitely something you'll want to do. Both midterms and the final were fair; the final was actually very easy. She adjusts the curve so that the course average is a B- so it's pretty hard to fail. I'd say she's one of the better EE teachers you'll come across.

Jin is excellent if you're looking for a professor that gets through all the material during each lecture. I personally found Braun's way of teaching way too slow and enjoy the pace of Jin's lectures. It's not for everyone though. Regarding her accent, it's not the worst but it's not the best. Took me a few classes to understand. Her tangents and metaphors during lectures are awesome.

Jin is the nicest person. She'll reschedule office hours, grades really fairly, and is always willing to answer questions in class. Unfortunately she isn't able to really explain the material that well in class or in office hours. Her accent is really thick and she has a poor grasp of English which makes it hard for her to explain concepts and hard for her to understand what the questions are. Also her lectures are just examples from the book and are not in any particular order. Because of this, even though the tests were easy questions, the average on both tests were in the D-F range so there was a massive curve. If you are willing to learn entirely from the book, take her class. Also before taking EE335 review PHYS133, it will help a lot!

Jin is a very understanding professor. She sometimes gives out time extension (without penalty) to students if they can\'t turn in their homework on time. Her handouts are very clear and helpful. You can use them as cheat sheets on her tests. Not a bad professor.

Jin is very hard to learn from, but she is still a good professor. She is one of the smartest professors in the department, but she has trouble conveying her material to the students. Her handouts and notes are very good and the book follows pretty closely with her lectures in case you can't understand her. There is a curve because nobody could do very well on the tests. She is very fast at math, so she makes her tests too long for the average student to complete. It's nothing to really worry about because the curve will save everyone in the end and she doesn't fail anyone that didn't miss class.

What can you really expect from someone who had a 4.00 GPA from TsingHua University (aka the Stanford equivalent in China)? That's where Jin's from, and that's right, it will be a tough quarter for you if you decide to take 335 with her. EE335 is "supposed" to be tough class, because not everyone is into the EM stuffs because of the maths involved. Jin lectures really fast and zooms through materials quickly. She expects you to learn on your own outside of class and devote a lot of time outside of class just for this class. The exams were really tough and the average was pretty bad (close to failing actually). Even the best performers scored around 80%. If you really show effort that you tried, she will pass you with a C-, but you REALLY have to show her that you tried your very best. This class wasn't too bad for me because all these stuffs were just a review since I studied them during high school (that's right, these exact same stuffs were taught in high school in Hong Kong). Good luck!

I have never been so lost in a class before. She talked so fast, and yet explained so little. That said, her tests are reasonable with the exception of some unsolvable problems here and there, but you should expect that from the EE department by now. LEARNING IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY in this class, so make the effort to gain a fundamental understanding of maxwells equations, the smith chart, and transmission line fundamentals, and you'll do fine. She does have the awful tendency to incorporate random tangents into sentences containing useful information. So you need to learn to filter out phrases such as: "...that's why the Japanese children can't escape" or anything to do with fiber optics. Jin is very informative on her lectures, but sometimes goes to fast on certain topics near the end of the year, leading to confusion and panic. She really needs to give a second midterm so that the gap between the final and single midterm she gives is surmountable in case one does badly in the only midterm given. Thus, I propose a second midterm is necessary, which will also decrease the amount the final is worth from 50% to less. Yes, the final in her class for EE 335 is 50% which is normal given the year you are in and therefore shut up about the amount the final is worth. A second midterm can consolidate both the chapter 1 and 2 material given before learning chapter 3 for the final. My suggestion to you is to take her due to her leniency she gives to her students in certain matters, and to be entertained sometimes by her stories.

Dr. Jin is a very nice lab instructor to have. she is patient and will try her best to explain the materials to you. However, once in a while she will get annoyed if you ask uneducated or repeated questions. When that happens, just walk away quietly and ask someone else. Situations like that happened to me before because I had Dr. Agbo for lecture. Dr. Agbo go over the lab in the lab while Dr. Jin go over the lab in her lecture. Therefore my lab partner and I never understood the lab. I would recommend take her both for lecture and the lab if you can. overall, good teacher to have.

first off, she might be hard to understand because of her thick accent and mouth running at 200mph. hard grader on lab reports. lab data is to be turned in at the end of lab but reports are due within a week before next lab. lab final was a practical out of 10 pts. For the practical, everyone signs for for a time slot as it was individual. then everyone picks a random number which corresponds to a certain set of procedure she has, NOT the lab number in the lab manual. You may or may not get lucky with your picking (some procedures were just the first lab PSPICE) but all the procedures are fairly short. You get one hour to set up the circuit and take the appropriate measurements. lab final is open everything (including internet) except communication. points are deducted if you ask the professor for hints

Grades labs VERY harshly and is difficult to understand. I registered and was enrolled in a class with a different professor and didn't realize he was replaced by Jin until the night before the lab. Average crappy EE professor. She actually knows her stuff decently well, but her accent annoys most people. Her ability to convey material was fairly average - we all know how bad the EE department is in general. Grading is pretty fair. The labs are mostly pretty simple to do, but take some time to understand the concepts and theory. She doesn't grade labs easily - you really have to do them and get correct numbers to get full credit. Her final was selecting a random number to redo a part of an experiment. Practice calibrating the network analyzer correctly, because it's probably the most important thing you'll do all quarter.

man this lady speaks fast and high. and with a thick accent. really concentrate to understand what she is saying and you might just learn something. she graded heavily for the lab reports, but since everyone was sucking pretty bad in the class it worked itself out. she is really nice and will help you out if you ask, but she may not give you an answer right away. if you continue to struggle she will point you in the right direction. not a bad teacher.
