Eddy is probably one of the most successful individuals to ever teach at Cal Poly. This guy has practiced law for over thirty years and seems to know everything about everything. He is super-duper friendly and challenges his students. What you should know before signing up for this class... It will not be easy. You will actually learn something. You will be required to use your brain. Don't take him if you want to sleep through 404, if that is the case take Perello. He will help you in every aspect of your life and career. He isn't there to smash facts into your head, he teaches ways to think and analyze. The grading will be fair. Not easy, but fair. He will listen to your concerns and the smartest students will do well, not the ones that bullshit the best. Overall, I think he is possibly one of the best people I have ever met, inside or outside the classroom. Take him if you want to become a better person. If not, drop out of school now, what the hell are you doing here.

Eddy was an amazing teacher. If you give a rats ass about anything you'll find the majority of the material interesting. He's a really nice guy, easy to talk to, and very helpful. Tests aren't really hard but you will have to study, they're fair though. Overall this was my favorite class I've had at poly. Just do yourself a favor and participate instead of sitting there like a dumbass with no opinion on anything.

Eddy is an awesome guy. He is so inspiring and motivational. I encourage all of my friends to take this class. His humor is really cute and he will tell you when he is making a joke. Be prepared to rough it through really hard tests, but hey, it is a 400 level class. You will walk away a better person after taking this class, good luck getting in.

This was a great class! Not only did I learn a lot, but the topics of discussion were interesting. Quijano was really good about getting class participation out of a lot of different people for discussion. A lot of the other 404 classes I think would be a lot easier, as this class had a lot of written assignments for homework, and some tough (but fair) tests. There was also a BIG written and oral presentation project he does each quarter on a different topic (ours was on rebuilding New Orleans), which none of the other 404 classes do as far as I know. I had a great time and I think the effort you put in really reflects the grade you get out of this class. Sometimes you should take the good professors and learn something rather than take the easy classes. I really enjoyed this class.

Quijano's 404 class was much harder than the other 404 classes. There were 2 midterms and a final. However, there was a huge presentation and report to do! He only gave 2 A's. The directions were not very clear and a lot of groups did the wrong thing. 404 is a lot like 207- so if you like business law than you are in luck. If not--well, it will be a long quarter. It started off really interesting and fun-then it turned into 207. It isn't that bad of a class- and Quijano did the very best he could. He is an excellent professor and earned the respect of his class. Overall, if you are ready for more work-then take Quijano.

I love Quijano! He is a very nice guy and you can tell he loves what he does. His tests are not that bad, they are all multiple choice, and if you do the homework he will give you credit even if you write it on the wrong subject. The final consists of multiple choice, short answer, and essay. He really enjoys when students PARTICIPATE. There is a group project which isn't that bad if you get a good group and you should ask him questions about the project, it will help your grade in the end.

Terrible person and instructor. Quijano does not teach anything. All he does is display the Powerpoint slides and then ask the students to talk about the material. I am willing to participate in the class discussions but the teacher should present the material and participate in the discussions himself. His grading is very UNFAIR. There is a heavily weighted group project for which he provides minimal and vague directions yet grades very strictly. He has favorites, most of whom are his female students ... possible correlation. Quijano is, by far, the WORST teacher I had at Cal Poly.

Eddy does a great job in this class. The grading is pretty straight forward. Most of your grade is divided equally amoung the midterm, final, and group project with some additional points for homework (of which there is very little) and participation. There are also some extra credit opportunities, be sure to take advantage of them. As long as you read the book and show up for the lecutures this class is really easy. I had a great group for the project and it didn't take us that long to get everything. This is a great class to take if are taking a lot of other classes and you need something to balance your schedule with.

This guy is great! I must admit that in the beginning i did not like this class because it was heavily based on discussion(i'm not one to raise my hand). However, as soon as i was willing to participate in class, it was a lot better. The class is based on a midterm, final, participation/hw, and a group presentation and report. The teacher is willing to help you and met with my group on his day off to go over the project. This is a good thing to do to make sure you are on the right track. My only regret is not doing the extra credit, it would have raised my grade from an A- to and A. I haven't ever had a better professor, or a better person teach me at Cal Poly.

Quijano is a really good guy, and he tries really hard to make the class interesting and it isn't an easy task to achieve. The tests are easy, the reading is necessary to pass the quizzes, but it is usually short and the quizzes aren't tricky, very straight forward. Go over the slides, take a few good notes, and ignore he repeated use of the same slide again and again which never really seems to culminate into anything...If I could do it again, I would take this class.

quijano is hands down one of my favorite professors at poly. hes such a cute, nice older guy thats really easy to listen to and is surprisingly really funny! you watch south park clips and youtube videos all quarter to try to make it more interesting. you can tell hes passionate about the subject and really knows his shit, which is another bonus in case you really want to learn this stuff. you definitely do need to study for both tests (midterm and noncumulative final), but other than those all you do is write three one-page "case studies." anyways definitely take quijano if you get the chance!

Great guy, very understanding. I really learned a lot from his class. The only problem is that he is a lawyer and teaches like a lawyer. He will talk for 2 hours straight, while no one is following along. His famous line is "you don't have to be from Havard or Yale to understand this", referring to something WAY too difficult to understand, making us feel even more retarded than before. Its a hard class, but I think after this first quarter of teaching 414 he will have his stuff together. FYI, he is an important guy (former managing partner at a law firm)... He is best friends with the top guy at the IRS and close buddies with the President of the bar association. If you want to network with a powerful individual, Eddy is the guy to get to know.

This was a hard class, but he definitely taught it well. His experience as a tax lawyer helped expose a different side of accounting and tax than we are used to seeing and this through a lot of people in the class off. However, I think it improved the quality of education. He definitely knows his stuff and teaches well, but since the subject matter is so complex you will have to do the assigned reading(preferably before the lecture) if you want to learn it. Also, I think he curved pretty generously because I had a mid-range B before the final and ended up with an A-.

I think eddy is a great guy and a good professor. I couldn't give him an out right 4.0 because I think he fails to recognize what needs clarification and what doesn't. He would often over clarify simple concepts and brush over complex material. He always stressed reading the book, but even he admits it isn't any good. I think he is just a little bit green as a professor, but he will be a great one with a few more quarters under his belt. The material and the tests get progressively (some say exponentially) harder. Great class, I recommend it.

Eddy is a great guy. He really knows his stuff and can pretty much explain anything about the subject matter to you. His class was difficult, but I definitely learned more than I have from most of my other business classes. The class consisted of homework (which was either analyzing court cases or completing homework problems), midterms, and a final. He also offers extra credit points if you present a court case brief in class (5 points which helps your grade A LOT!). I definitely recommend Quijano for any business class you take but be prepared to work hard.

Hard exams, teaches the tax law since he was a tax lawyer. Knows his shit, but is understanding if you don't get it. Great prof to see during office hours and is concerned about each studet's ability to grasp the concepts in the class. If you do the reading and assisgnments you will do fine, otherwise you'll get a C like me. He is an asset to the Business department and Cal Poly is lucky to have him.

I still have yet to find someone who didn’t think he was one of the best professors at Poly. Extremely intelligent and pushes you to learn more than just a surface deep understanding of concepts. Challenges you to be inquisitive and really pushes students to struggle through the material to find clarity instead of just presenting the answers. Very successful man who will make you hit the floor laughing with his jokes, if they aren’t over your head…which definitely happens!
