Hey Cal Poly... long time no see...

In recent weeks, confusion and concern have abounded about whether Polyratings' would return. Status reports and reasons about what's going on have been lacking.

For that, we apologize and offer the following:

A 2006 Mustang Daily article said Polyratings "might shut down in the near future" if we couldn't get the resources—volunteers to help with maintaining the site's content— to keep the site running.

Despite this desire for more assistance going mostly unfilled, Polyratings functioned for over three years since that article was published. Only recently did issues arise.

These issues were technical in nature, relating to the software platform that underpins Polyratings; they had nothing to do with the hardware problems or lack of resources, save one: time.

For Polyratings to remain a viable, useful site for the Cal Poly student community, Cal Poly students need to remain engaged in its cultivation and development.

For many, that will be continuing to use the site every quarter to find out what their peers think of various professors.

For others, that means writing great reviews to help other students out.

But our continued role as the great resource for students rests on at least a few students consistently contributing their time to keep Polyratings' information about the campus we all love current and responding to concerns of the campus in a way only Cal Poly students can. Polyratings is long overdue for a bit of "spring cleaning" in this area.

The coordination around setting up this type of sustainability has been lacking, and that's something we intend to fix. If you'd like to help, use the comments page to give us a shout.

As for the technical issues, we have obviously solved them! There have been various rumors circulating that the site was relaunched at other domains. These reports are completely false.

Again, we're sorry for the hiatus. It's good to be back.
